Ref with main character syndrome. But if I am forced to have a sober critique of the game then I hare to acknowledge that we cant give up double digit corners to a team who can only score on set pieces. So there suck it fair and balanced viewers.
Players looked tired today. How does the fixture list end up having the swans playing 3/4 away games over the festive period and Millwall playing 3/4 at home. Doesn't seem fair.
Despite it being a pretty poor performance we should have got a point. Still can't believe the referee gives a free kick there.
Disappointed with the result but happy enough with the performance. Millwall are a good team and it's well below freezing outside (maybe not in London but at least in South Wales!), to lose late on to an iffy free kick is gutting but we were the worse team. Some incredible saves by Vigoroux, was mostly pleased with how everyone played and it's been a very challenging run of fixtures. Onwards and upwards I reckon.
Didn’t catch the game but sounds as if Vigoroux was easily MOTM and the referee gave a soft free kick which lead to their winner - incompetent officiating at its finest but as usual, nothing will ever get done about it.
As much as this group has improved under Matos, they simply still concede too many soft and late goals which lead to vital points dropped. Needs addressing and urgently.
Bit of a break now until the next league game which is needed I think going off of Matos’ team selection today. West Brom at home in the cup id like to see some rotation to allow others a chance.
Despite the loss today, still optimistic as under Sheehan we’d have crumbled and lost by three or four. Matos needs to figure out and identify how now to take us to the level beyond that.
Late goals have been our problem ever since dropping down to the Championship. Very surprised nobody has picked up on this and tried to address it - hopefully Matos does.
I'd like to see a list of late goals conceded and have a good cry.
Spoke to one of the guys from the Indy they’ve been keeping a record and are doing something.
Vigs was doing yoga out there. Standing on his head
We need more leadership in defence I think. Cabango has gone downhill since Darling left, and I expected more from Burgess, he’s been far from premier league quality. They’ve both made quite a few errors leading to goals this season
You complain about the officials, but Burgess made more errors today then he did, but you didn't mention it. But I just re-read and you didn't even watch the game, so it's always amuses me.
Another incompetent bunch of English officials this shit needs investigating.
They hate us.. cuz they Anus
What about Burgess's incompetent defending/play today?
Not sure cams incompetence in a game requires investigation, sure he's had a off day but he's been overall decent this season can't say the same about the officials this season though can we 🤦
Burgess has had an off season. 'We' can. What specific thing did the ref do today that caused us not to win the game? He booked one of theirs, none of ours.
First half was all Millwall, Vigouroux saved us from being 2/3-0 down. So we made more mistakes than the officials did over the 90 minutes.
I don't mind people blaming officials if they are wrong under law, but fouls are always up to interpretation. Why would most one-eyed Swans fan think any foul against us is an acceptable decision.
My question always is, which team of officials would you want to take charge of games? If people want it to change, moaning on Reddit to an empty space isn't going to change anything. Maybe people should volunteer to officiate and help new referees to come through?
Harsh on Burgess imo he's not been great but far from bad, if you offered me Harry back or cam id keep cam every day of the week he's far better defensively and that's what I want from my CB.
The foul that Led to the winning goal imo was never a foul but I'd like to see the angles tomorrow from the extended highlights. I'm also more than happy to praise the officials when they have a good game unfortunately we don't see it very often, and by good game I don't mean award us everything and the opposition nothing. That's why I keep calling for VAR I want fair games with correct decision or at least a chance to get more decisions correct.
Does it matter if it was or wasn't a foul? It was the referee's interpretation at the time. VAR wouldn't have been used and it wasn't the referee's fault we couldn't defend the throw in.
Is this because you think VAR would work well? As people moan at that too. (Correctly so). What incorrect decisions did the referee give today? I mean factual ones, not ones based on interpretation.
Who should fit the bill for VAR? As currently it is the teams, which officials would do this? One per game? That would have a massive effect on the lower league games who don't have enough officials anyway. A mountain of questions.
Have you thought about taking up a course and helping future referees?
I agree with Matt. Too many fans making excuses by blaming the ref. Yes, the refs are not the greatest, but we need to move past that and focus on winning matches.
Our out of possession stuff has improved a lot under Matos, and we were good second half in that regard. Although we weren't helped by some strange subs, especially ending the game with Fulton and Stamenic on the pitch. This allowed Millwall to dictate the terms of the contest late on, despite us dominating proceedings from the start of the second half.
In possession we need to improve. Galbraith apart, not enough composure or fluency in our passing. Need to get Galbraith into midfield, so sorting out our right back position is a priority.
We also need intelligent wingers with end product. I think theres been too many times where our wingers just run at defenders and do nothing with it. Our wingers have terrible attacking stats compared to other wingers in the league
Anyone you'd recommend?
Depends on budget and I don’t have a comprehensive knowledge of right backs in our budget. There’s probably some decent cheap players kicking around in the Belgian and Scottish leagues too.
Bart van Rooij from FC Twente probably around £5m Harrison Ashby from Newcastle but he’s on loan to QPR I think. Hamza Choudhury from Leicester is solid enough and quite versatile, no idea how much he’d be, around £3m maybe?
I think he's taking the piss coz of how much they've talked about lissah rightfully so imo lads having a cracking season and we need a RB why waste money we don't have.
Bingo, glad someone here can see it 😂
Why are we like this
From my perspective we’re lacking leadership in defence hence all of the late goals
Fuuuuuuuuuck
Neil said after the match that Millwall wrestled back control from 70 minutes on. There wasn't much in it but he's not wrong. Our subs definitely helped them more than us. Ending the game with the pedestrian Stamenic alongside the equally pedestrian Fulton handed Millwall the initiative. Matos needs to commit fully to the intensive pressing game.
Some of you need to get over yourselves especially when one of you say you didn’t even see the match. Yes I agree that Vigoroux was definitely the MOTM but doesn’t that say a lot about the numerous saves he made. You really only turned up after you equalised and even then didn’t look like scoring again. Stop whingeing about the free kick being soft and complaining about the ref it happens to all the teams in this league and you no more than anybody else. You lost get over it.
I agree, without Vigouroux Millwall would have been out of sight before half time.
I am sure Swans had some soft free kicks too, Franco actually won one by his usual rolling around.
