Savannah said in the EW feature article that she received a message before flying out for 50 letting her know that her win had already been leaked. So it would have been in the pre-pregame.
It's in the article from this week. Apparently it got out (unclear how) to the other players that Savannah won 49 before she had a chance to decide whether to reveal it and she was being asked about it on the plane.
In the S49 finale official podcast review episode, Savannah said she was going to own it on the island. They were all going to look at her and Rizzo and wonder how the hell they made it to 50. Trying to act dumb was not going to pass with this crew.
I get why Joe is there, for the casual audience. I think swapping Kyle and Tiffany for Maryanne and Andy would’ve been the move tbh. Keeps it at three winners, and it spreads out the New Era players’ original seasons a bit more so that it’s less likely someone is voted out because of who else made the cast with them.
Opting for the guy that gave them sweet and cuddly sound bites and clips over the architect of Operation Italy tells you everything you need to know about the priorities of production in the new era.
she's 100% right. joe was very well-liked, loyal & sociable on his season, and honestly, he wasn't dumb, even though people like to discredit his game. everyone wanted to be joe's best friend, which makes him incredibly dangerous. fortunately for him, this ssn has so many massive players that he probably wont be targeted as much as he would amongst a cast with smaller names.
Right, I love that she’s not gunning for a big dog. She understands that the real threats on these seasons are the UTR ones who are loyal, well-liked, and incredibly hard to take out.
God this season will be so fun if the boot list is front loaded with new players. I mostly didn’t have a problem with the WAW boot list but I badly want this season to favor players from older seasons.
I want players like Colby, Stephenie, and/or Aubry to make it far because they were on some of the hardest seasons ever and they can tell Jeff that the New Era is easy compared to Australian Outback, Guatemala, and Kaoh Rong

That'd be Aubry, Chrissy, Christian, Angelina, Mike White, Devens, Ozzy and Cirie. If they're really out saying the 26 day version is too easy comparatively, that'd likely mean something. Especially Mike White who Jeff actually seems to listen to (Mike infamously got Jeff to kill off Fire Tokens)
I think the producers will probably make them talk about how hard the 26 day game is just so they could prove to us fans that we are wrong. We gotta wait for their post-game interviews to get their real opinions..
Or it can be some old-school player saying how harder the older seasons were but the editors edit it around to make it us believe that the new era is harder than the older seasons. Shades of "I think Coolsville sucks" from one of the live action Scooby-Doo movies

26 days is not being done because it's "easier" or "harder". It's a cost saving move for production. They're spending 66% of what they did previously to make the same show. They can't feasibly justify increasing the current filming budget by 150%, ever again. That would require a network investment into the show of tens of millions of dollars. There's likely no going back.
The show’s budget doesn’t decrease linearly with the number of days spent shooting. They save significant money, certainly, but things like editing, post production, etc. don’t necessarily decrease.
The general consensus is that the 26-day version (which has the contestants running on a significantly lower daily calorie intake) isn't any easier than the 39-day version. It's just shorter.
Now, if they give them an old-school amount of food (which they might, because it was put to a public vote), then yeah, it will be a lot easier for everyone.
I could see a world where Savannah, Rizzo, Kyle, Dee...maybe even Q and Charlie are all seen as the biggest threats. And that leaves the old schoolers with a big numbers advantage. This might be a very different result than 40.
I think we're giving too much credence to this particular piece of content. Not sure these are reliable answers as much as prompts to make funny sound bytes.

Cirie is no longer someone you vote out first. You vote out her in the merge because she isn’t going to win immunity unless we go get a purely mental or social immunity challenge again.
Cirie is the perfect ally. She is extremely loyal to her allies and you can always take her out in the end. I expect a similar trajectory once again this season.
Because you can get Cirie out whenever. She's not winning immunity. Final 5 and 4 people DQ and she'd still find a way to not win it. No need to take out Cirie earlier because she's free late game and increases your own immunity odds.
Corollary to this is, she can also get you out at any time. I've only seen one season where the executed plan actually was "let's just bring Cirie to the end because we can beat her easily," and that wasn't even Survivor, it was BB25.

I'd guess that if any of these targets are going to be relevant in the game, they'd be most relevant very early on before alliances/relationships have had a chance to form. So, vote counts received from starting tribemates: Q 2, Colby 1, Rizo 1, Charlie 1.

Very smart of Christian to want to target people who are going to slide by in the background. So often those people ride the middle, flip flop and ultimately control the votes as the game hits a critical point after merge.
Knowing Q, I could just as easily see it being him desperately trying to come up with any way to open communication with her, so if he is ever in a position where he needs her vote, he can act like they are friends because he’s been talking to her about her personal life

Despite Cirie not being the best in challenges, I can’t recall too many times she was an active hindrance either. That includes the hyper physical tribe challenges on Survivor AU.
Cirie is not first voteoff material imo unless you're looking to "strengthen the tribe". She can't win immunities so she's someone who can be voted off later.
Gotta get rid of the people who can forge bonds and find idols quickly, those are the most dangerous.
Cirie has never found an idol or won an immunity challenge. She can sneak her way to FTC, but I think people notice her at that point. So she's always vulnerable at the merge, unlike people who win immunities (Savannah, Dee) or find idols (Devens) who people should be wary of imo.
Agree with Genevieve rational of why Joe would be a good target for her. I think Cirie targeting Kyle would be a mistake, I think he would want to work with her and they would have good mutual meat shield value to each other.
Aside from the Purple tribe which is... yikes. I had a feeling that Charlie would be in trouble with whichever tribe he was on, sort of like Cesternino in All-Stars. This doesn't bode well for him that he's already got people going after him on his tribe.

If I was on this season, my first two picks to vote off would be either Cirie or Q.
I would vote against Q is that he is such an agent of chaos, that you cant rely on him in an alliance, yet he will scheme with the bottom tier players.
If I was on the same tribe as Cirie, you know she probably wont be helping with Immunity Challenges, and she may the most sympathetic player if she makes it to FTC.
Been a fan of Survivor for years and it always baffles me when people (on any game show) see Cirie Fields and don’t immediately at least try and get rid of her. She’s a huge strategic threat who (probably) won’t be loyal to you in the long run and she sucks at challenges. She must be incredibly charming in person or something.

Despite Cirie not being the best in challenges, I can’t recall too many times she was an active hindrance either. That includes the hyper physical tribe challenges on Survivor AU.

Cirie is not first voteoff material imo unless you're looking to "strengthen the tribe". She can't win immunities so she's someone who can be voted off later.
Gotta get rid of the people who can forge bonds and find idols quickly, those are the most dangerous.
Honestly I’d argue Cirie is good to target early just because she is at her most dangerous in the late game
Cirie has never found an idol or won an immunity challenge. She can sneak her way to FTC, but I think people notice her at that point. So she's always vulnerable at the merge, unlike people who win immunities (Savannah, Dee) or find idols (Devens) who people should be wary of imo.
Agree with Genevieve rational of why Joe would be a good target for her. I think Cirie targeting Kyle would be a mistake, I think he would want to work with her and they would have good mutual meat shield value to each other.
Yeah, I’m super surprised about Cirie. Maybe there’s only room on the island for someone adorable and Cirie knows it and she can’t lie to Kyle. Lol

Aside from the Purple tribe which is... yikes. I had a feeling that Charlie would be in trouble with whichever tribe he was on, sort of like Cesternino in All-Stars. This doesn't bode well for him that he's already got people going after him on his tribe.

Agreed. The meta of immediate returnees is that they go far. Rupert in ASS, Amanda and James in FvF, Russell in HvV, Zeke and Michaela in GC. The only real exception is Shirin, but ppl had seen her season.

If I was on this season, my first two picks to vote off would be either Cirie or Q.
I would vote against Q is that he is such an agent of chaos, that you cant rely on him in an alliance, yet he will scheme with the bottom tier players.
If I was on the same tribe as Cirie, you know she probably wont be helping with Immunity Challenges, and she may the most sympathetic player if she makes it to FTC.
Been a fan of Survivor for years and it always baffles me when people (on any game show) see Cirie Fields and don’t immediately at least try and get rid of her. She’s a huge strategic threat who (probably) won’t be loyal to you in the long run and she sucks at challenges. She must be incredibly charming in person or something.
For some reason flies under the radar for a while. It's like: we can vote her out any time and there's bigger targets.
I don’t recall her playing a disloyal game. Quite the opposite, in fact. (I haven’t seen Panama though.)

They only saw the season 49 promo. So they saw him call himself RizGod. Chrissy mentions in the video, rumors were going around Savannah won and Savannah has also said in these pre game interviews she realized that and she knew she couldn’t hide her win even though she originally wanted to
