Kamilla was so smart in her exit interviews even if sometimes too obvious that she isnt giving anything.. too bad they set her up with Kyle being there too
I think all three winners and Cirie are cooked, so I don’t think Kamilla needs to worry. I do think Rizo does though since he probably missed out on the chance to pregame.
Shes better at it now, but not as good as the veteran Australians. Same for physical challenges, she actually showed up in several physical challenges, and even once beat all the athletic Australian players in an endurance challenge, but a world player won that challenge (either parvati or the french Canadian, both insanely built for endurance)
Cirie has made several deep runs. The problem is that she isn't likely to win individual immunity, so unless she finds an idol, there will come a time after the final 7 that the others go, "So I guess it is now time to send Cirie to jury, right?"
If everyone knows they can take her out, is she really that big of a threat anymore? I legit wonder if Cirie could win a game now without the help of it essentially being a lifetime achievement award.
She’s a threat in that if she makes it to the end she will win. She’s also a threat in that the new era folks will fan girl over her. Like genuinely there’s probably at least one person on the cast willing to give her the lifetime achievement award.
But also she’s kind of a trophy. Saying you took out Cirie is a resume builder
This is my thought too. She's a great ally to have, but you can take her out literally whenever you want because it's pretty much a guarantee that she won't be winning a challenge or finding an idol. It'll be pretty easy to take her out in the 7-5 range before fire making.
Yea, Cirie is dead at the end game with the current meta. She won't win immunity (unless she defies the odds and ends her 5 season streak), and she isn't great at fire. Being the one to take her out at F4 is going to be big too. She has shown to be largely loyal to her allies, never being a wildcard or backstabbing ruthlessly without needing to - though her power is also making you think she's still with you even as she slides the knife in. So, it isn't unthinkable that she could make it far, but I guess it's potentially the Sandra effect coming in, you are scared if you give her enough room she's going to make you regret doing so.
I love Cirie, and was a 10 year old kid I was rooting for her and now in my 30s, I still love her as much as the day she said she was scared of leaves at Casaya - but she's somehow both the biggest goat and the GOAT at the same time. Only area she can hope for is for someone dumb enough to bring her to the final 3. We saw Sugar hand Bob the win on Gabon doing the same, so it is not impossible, just improbable.
If Kamilla is on a tribe without Kyle, and if they lose immunity while Kyle is still in the game, she could be sniped as collateral like Natalie and Amber in WAW
Remember her exit interview with Rob where she said she had no idea why people thought she was planning and scheming all the time? And she was just lying around doing nothing. Cut to 50's announcement, and Rob says he thought she was being a dud but now he understands it was just threat management.
How did they set her up with Kyle there? There are way higher players/threats on the cast than Kamilla. Its not like she's a big name.
I would be shocked if Kyle outlasts Kamilla, so them being together will likely not even be a thing
They filmed IMMEDIATELY after the cast just watched her get Final 4 and secure the win for her ally. If she's at an early tribal, that's a very easy thing to point to and say "we should get rid of her"
Exactly. They just saw KYLE winning. They also saw Kyle protecting Kamilla the whole post-merge. Its not like Kamilla played hard as she did on pre-merge. Kamilla is one of the smallest names of season 50 and she doesnt have the target that Kyle, Dee and Savannah have
I could see Kyle lasting longer than Kamila. He is better at challenges and is way more loyal than Kamila(To his core allies at least). I think Kamila is either an early boot or an end gamer, versus Kyle who is probably going to finish middle of the pack.
I think he can do okay. He is a well respected winner but was actually loyal to his core allies( Joe, Kamila, and Eva), just not his secondary people. He can actually get along with anyone (Which a lot of people on this cast can't), and is tremendously talented at the game. I do worry that he could be a big target in the end game, but I think he has a good shot at making merge, and would probably be middle of the pack on a must win power rank.
I really want both to do well. I know people hate 48 but Kyle and kamilla duo was one of the lone bright spots of the season. I’m mad they put both of them on there simply because it’s fresh in people’s mind.
I think if she says Joe hates her no one would believe that ,but if she says her relationship with Joe is neutral and underplays it reasonably that would work.
You’re right lol. My hate is a lil forced cause he’s a type of player that really gets on my nerves quickly, but also he only had good relationships with them because he didn’t think they were playing the game as hard as him. It was only when he got to the F3 and Eva + Kyle both revealed their deceptions that he realized he’d been duped. Considering his FTC performance too, I highly suspect he wasn’t expecting his allies to have played behind his back at all and didn’t really know how to adjust his description of his game.
It’s also come out post-season that the majority of his alliance wanted to bring him and Eva to the end as they were the perceived goats that they could beat. The editing of the whole season really strayed from a lot of the players’ actual perceptions of the game. I think it’s partially why I dislike Joe, simply because I could see all the glaring flaws in his game while he was edited to be the golden boy for the fair majority of the season, up until maybe F6-F5 when they finally started to unravel K+K duo’s narrative of undermining Joe and Eva behind their back. I have nothing against him as a person, but as a Survivor contestant, he just grates on me as many players who tout the honour and integrity bull usually do.
Ultimately, this is a “put up or shut up” moment. Good players still have the capability to overcome what others perceive of them and their relationships pre-season. Parvati was a large threat going into HvV, especially with Amanda and Cirie over on Heroes tribe. Tony and Sarah were both threats going into WAW.
I think they are on in a hard spot regardless, so I don't think it's too big a deal.. I expect all the newbies to be targets and the older players to be aligned in the beginning stage.
I don't think kamilla gets cast without a connection to him and him on the season. (Same with Tiffany and Q) She was not that interesting independent of their secret alliance.
Unlike most contestants, Joe seemed to be exactly himself on the show. I think he was probably exactly the good guy we think he is, which also sadly made him a bad player.
He actually played a pretty great "good guy" game, maybe top 5. He just unfortunately got played a few crucial times by a close ally who was much sneakier and didn't seem sneaky.
But Joe had everyone wanting to work with him, and the few that didn't couldn't convince the others to turn on Joe. He had an incredibly public duo and they both got to the end. That alone is pretty insane.
He backstabbed people when he needed to.
Basically if he's able to manage the jury better I think he had a good shot at winning. That's absolutely not nothing, but he is better than a lot of redditors give him credit for
Thank you! He plays honor and loyalty better than most, and he does it from a majority position. It’s easy for players like Mike to be the good guys, because it’s often paired with being an underdog. I think Joe did have more win equity than he gets credit for, but I also think Eva probably beats him in most F3 combinations.
He needed to acknowledge his own disloyalty/hypocrisy in final tribal and I think the jury could have been swayed. Like "hey I know y'all were annoyed by the honor thing, but I hope you can understand it was a strategy. I do of course care about those things but in this game you have to be disloyal sometimes. I used that framing as a tool and it kept my core alliance together since people were afraid to cross us. When it seemed like my allies were starting to turn I got them out first.
Yes Kyle may have got the best of me a couple times but his whole game is impossible without me. I was the backbone of the alliance and no votes happened without coming through me first."
I think something like that could have really given him a fighting chance.
I agree, but it’s like Coach in SoPa - it would require a fundamentally different person with a different perspective. I strongly suspect the two of them will link up for a similar honor-style alliance.
Yep and that's why Survivor is interesting despite there being 50 seasons. Different people end up playing the game in different ways. And then you get seasons like 48 that mirror past seasons, but there are still all these differences that make it interesting to talk about.
Like who had a better shot to actually win once getting to FTC - Coach, or Joe? That's an interesting question.
I think from his perspective (or at least what we saw) he was taking out David and Shauhin who he thought were being disloyal. But because K&K manipulated him and Eva, he can't really make a winning pitch out of "oops I got tricked." The jury, IIRC, was really looking for someone to do something and that's what K&K pulled off. So I think in that case it was a lose-lose for him. If he properly sussed out K&K at the David boot he might have won.
Good point. I think it's unlikely he was winning especially after the Shauhin vote where Shauhin was never actually coming for him.
But I still think had he made a pitch similar to the one I made here, he might have come close. I think Shauhin has said he wanted to vote for Joe, and David I could see voting Joe if Joe owns up to that stuff. Not sure about all the other jurors but that gives Joe 3 votes. It's very possible he could eek out a win especially if Eva keeps her two votes.
He needed a Taj to help him orchestrate getting people out and then get out at the last moment.
And arguably, he had two, and the current format of the game doesn’t let you get to a Final 2 with just you and your bestie, so Kyle, who was playing a Taj role beat the JT of that season.
The thing is they got to the end because their alliance thought they could beat them in front of a jury. If he was better at managing his social relationships in a way that would present himself as a threat in the end, more would have turned on him. Eva kinda hit the ceiling for a good guy game who wasn’t targeted with her great FTC performance.
Maybe you could say Joe played a good game at not getting voted out, but you can't when it comes to the jury. Remember how Kamilla made a comment about jury management that one tribal council? She was referring to Joe. The jury's reactions to him talking about honor and integrity made it clear that they weren't fans of Joe.
I’ve seen several people say that Joe is a bad strategic player, and I just don’t see it. I think a lot of people conflate strong strategic gameplay with being cut-throat and manipulative (these do often go hand in hand); but it’s absolutely possible IMO to play a loyal and straightforward game like Joe did and still be a good player. He advanced through the game as a part of a solid alliance, and he managed to make the final three despite having a very public strong partnership, which should have made him a huge target. I wouldn’t say that he’s an elite strategic mastermind, but he played a solid strategic game.
Joe got to FTC with 0 win equity, but with his reputation and integrity intact. So, if his goal was to win, he did a bad job. If his goal was to represent honor and his way of playing, he did just fine.
Lol he’s not a bad player he has a shit ton of natural talent for the game. He completely dominated survivor 48. If he knew how to perform at final tribal he could’ve at least gotten Eva’s votes
I thought Genevieve downplayed her strategic abilities a lot on exit interviews. She didn't do any post season interviews or social media posts either. Probably intentional.
One thing about this season that i think is a plus due to the overall questionable at times/underwhelming cast in some places is that everyone at least has some sort of threat level. I feel like there isn’t a huge power imbalance like there is with people like in game changers for example.
Like you could target Christian for being a fan fav, but Devin’s is a big threat, but then Genevieve was so sneaky, but then Kyle and Kamilla were a secret duo, but then Aubry and Chrissy and Charlie all got second place and maybe feel “robbed” so they’re ready to win, but Jenna Lewis and and Steph and Colby are like legends with great stories, but then Tiffany is so wtf we can’t let her become the new Sarah/parvati, but when who are the 49ers? But also omg Cirie is here!
This has always been my thing since the cast got announced, it is VERY balanced. You have some winners but they're newer ones, some legends but mostly ones who have shown that they can be messy, Cirie who is great socially and strategically but has a reputation for being bad at comps and thus an easy endgame boot, Savannah and Rizo who are unknown factors but also don't have the pregame threat level of having a bunch of connections, and a bunch of decently solid recent players with notable storylines of being some manner of threat and/or being notably chaotic players.
The only person who doesn't rly fit ANY of those categories is arguably Tiffany, and even then I think she's generally well-regarded, plus that lack of threat level might be the very thing that gets her targeted over others (think Ethan in WaW going over BRob and Parvati).
Secret alliance 2.0 baby! Out with the Kyle, in with the Joe!
This could bite me in arse 2 months from now, but Kamilla is my favorite in this cast, because she really walks the walk about her eagerness to play, much similarly to why I really like Rick.
I like Joe and Kamilla. They are top tier players. Joe is authentic, and while some of his moves are questionable, he is overall a great player. Kamilla is very smart and strategic. I was rooting for her since day 1. But Kyle outsmarted all of them. They earned their spot in 50. I wish Rachell and Andy were there too.
I skipped 48 because I had a lot on and I heard the negative reviews… any thoughts on how I best catch up on these relationships? Just watch post merge perhaps?
48 is massively underrated here imo. It's a bit more old school feel with it being more relationship rather than blindside focused, but it still brings both
How great... too bad she's like the biggest threat behind Dee and Charlie on Kalo. That's unfortunate. Kamilla needed to come back later on if she wanted to play, but these people aren't going to give her the time of day. What a shame, because I really like Kamilla.
If you think about it, Joe theoretically holds a lot of cards, sure being a challenge beast could make him a target but aside from that, everyone (except maybe the 49ers) saw him being super loyal and that’ll be the perception of him so he could play a much sneakier game this time around if he wants,
He could lie and say he’s getting sticks for firewood but instead looks for idols or advantages and nobody would be suspicious
Plus having other visible challenge beast shields like Jonathan and Ozzy(I presume will still be)in the game helps and probably the two biggest social and strategic shields in Christian and Cirie
Maybe losing final tribal was a blessing in disguise
I believe this 100%. There was a moment on 48 when they were blatantly, genuinely aligned. On one of the swap tribes, there was a deep conversation between Kyle, Joe, and Kamilla about what this opportunity means in terms of being able to provide for their parents, and the hardships their parents went through. That's the type of bonding that really pulls people together. Even if they didn't vote the same way, I could see them having a genuine bond and possibly talking more game with each other than the edit showed.
Side note, but I always wondered what if the game would have gone differently for Mary if she had been on that swap tribe and been able to be part of that conversation, because her reasons for playing resonated so hard with everything Joe, Kyle, and Kamilla were saying. I wish *that* had been a 4-some that ran the game.
I’m curious to see her on 50 because my take on her from 48 is that she talks a much bigger game than she actually plays. Like I believe she thinks she’s super sneaky, I’m just not convinced it’s actually as big of a deal as she thinks - she just seems to buy her own hype way too much.
Joe was one of the most obvious picks in the New Era. Kamilla hiding that relationship in exit interviews in case she made the cut was just a savvy gamble on her part.
Kamilla was so smart in her exit interviews even if sometimes too obvious that she isnt giving anything.. too bad they set her up with Kyle being there too
(as much as I like him) I hope Kyle goes out early, will help Kamilla a lot. Jenna Lewis needs someone to tell her that he already won the million.
I think all three winners and Cirie are cooked, so I don’t think Kamilla needs to worry. I do think Rizo does though since he probably missed out on the chance to pregame.
I feel like Cirie makes a deep run unless she’s on a disaster tribe.
Yeah she’s a big threat, but everyone knows you can always take her out later.
for her sake i can hope she's fast as fuck at fire making, and hides it well.
I won’t spoil what happens. But fire ire making abilities does come up in Survivor Australia vs the world.
spoil away, i'm not gonna watch it.
Shes better at it now, but not as good as the veteran Australians. Same for physical challenges, she actually showed up in several physical challenges, and even once beat all the athletic Australian players in an endurance challenge, but a world player won that challenge (either parvati or the french Canadian, both insanely built for endurance)
She makes fire twice and loses both times. (First was a hero challenge during the tribe phase, and then final 4 was the other)
If anything it seemed like she’s a little worse at fire making than she was during Panama.
But it was filmed first so maybe it was a wake up call to practice.
I pray every night that she went home and did not stop practicing making fire until she learned how to do it instantly every time in a damn hurricane.
Please watch it! It’s so refreshing to see different gameplay and challenges.
It really is I’ve started to love the Australian version more. Their challenges are insane.
You are missing out. It was such a great season
Cirie has made several deep runs. The problem is that she isn't likely to win individual immunity, so unless she finds an idol, there will come a time after the final 7 that the others go, "So I guess it is now time to send Cirie to jury, right?"
There is a non-zero chance she finds allies willing to let her win.
Colby did it for Tina Mike white is rich Half the new era people are her fan girls/boys. Joe is Joe
It’s not likely but it is possible if the stars align
Unless she gets the Billie Eillish Memorial Boomerang Idol, so she comes back whenever she gets voted out.
Live by the Billie Eillish Boomerang idol, die by the Billie Eillish Boomerang idol
If everyone knows they can take her out, is she really that big of a threat anymore? I legit wonder if Cirie could win a game now without the help of it essentially being a lifetime achievement award.

I can't think of a single thing she has done that makes her a threat.
If Kamilla is on a tribe without Kyle, and if they lose immunity while Kyle is still in the game, she could be sniped as collateral like Natalie and Amber in WAW
They’re definitely making a point to split up people who debuted on seasons together. So the DvG, 46, and 48 people will all be split up.
I figured they would be, but that won't stop the rest of the tribe from using that against them!
I could see Kamilla throwing Kyle under the bus if they end up on a tribe together.
She needs to actively go after him, because that worked so well for Lex in All-Stars.
Cirie goes far, she doesn't win.
This is Cirie's magic. Everyone loves Cirie, everyone wants to work with Cirie. Everyone realizes that she can't go to the end.
This is both her magic power and her curse.
Will anyone other than Rizo know Savannah won?
No, but they’ll probably be able to figure it out.
Survivor fans would rather see Cirie win than themselves
Remember her exit interview with Rob where she said she had no idea why people thought she was planning and scheming all the time? And she was just lying around doing nothing. Cut to 50's announcement, and Rob says he thought she was being a dud but now he understands it was just threat management.
She even says that if she had known Kyle would be there too she would have turned it down!
She literally gave nothing in her exit interviews. I was so confused... Until about a week later when I found out she was on 50 😂
How did they set her up with Kyle there? There are way higher players/threats on the cast than Kamilla. Its not like she's a big name. I would be shocked if Kyle outlasts Kamilla, so them being together will likely not even be a thing

Honestly, I hope you're right!
The only flaw in this, I'm not sure Joe can hate anyone.
Joe hates people that hate, and he responds to them with an extremely stern handshake and a stare
He’s got that dad look. Glares into your soul with eyes that say “are you fucking kidding me right now”
Except if you like fully wronged him in some way, then he goes on the full warpath (and god help you then)
Lol more like if you didn't do anything to him at all and he somehow thinks you did
Not the paddington hard stare 💀
I hate that about him.
I think if she says Joe hates her no one would believe that ,but if she says her relationship with Joe is neutral and underplays it reasonably that would work.
Well he hates Star allegedly
Star does seem like she can be a lot. Good vibes but very loud
…
joe hates people that claim he went back on his word
True!
Joe hates anyone who plays a strategic game
He was pretty hypocritical about this and got roasted at FTC for it.
he had a good relationship with literally every actual strategic player on his season , your Joe hate is super forced
You’re right lol. My hate is a lil forced cause he’s a type of player that really gets on my nerves quickly, but also he only had good relationships with them because he didn’t think they were playing the game as hard as him. I feel bad for Kamilla and honestly Kyle. Having both of them on 50 will definitely make them targets.
I don’t. Kyle is a millionaire and Kamilla gets to be on an internationally televised reality show twice in 3 years. They are blessed.
Ultimately, this is a “put up or shut up” moment. Good players still have the capability to overcome what others perceive of them and their relationships pre-season. Everyone in 50 has a target on them.
Nobody is gunning for Angelina.
I don't think kamilla gets cast without a connection to him and him on the season. (Same with Tiffany and Q) She was not that interesting independent of their secret alliance.

Need to see how 50 plays out. He was able to play from a majority position in 48 because of how cards fell

Ooh interesting comparison!
Agree with this 💯
Who'd you rank as the other Top 5 "good guy" games?
Mike Holloway feels like a logical #1 given he won. Ethan too. Outside of that, Colby potentially?
Edit - holy shit I can't believe I forgot about JT
Tom Westman.

Joe is a good player who dominated his season socially.
But it was boring. So people shit talk him.
He clearly didn't. Eva got more votes than he did.
Depends on your goal.
Joe got to FTC with 0 win equity, but with his reputation and integrity intact. So, if his goal was to win, he did a bad job. If his goal was to represent honor and his way of playing, he did just fine.
Agreed. But he didn’t play a winning game. And that’s okay.
Lol he’s not a bad player he has a shit ton of natural talent for the game. He completely dominated survivor 48. If he knew how to perform at final tribal he could’ve at least gotten Eva’s votes
So, he’s a great player other than knowing how to get final votes??
Does that make him the heroic Russell Hantz?
Jury management is a skill that he can improve upon in this season potentially
That's what they just said
I thought Genevieve downplayed her strategic abilities a lot on exit interviews. She didn't do any post season interviews or social media posts either. Probably intentional.
She was SUPER tight-lipped in her exit press. It was obvious she was in the running for 50
Wow lol I haven't seen this mentioned before, thanks for posting.
I love Kamilla and I'm so excited to see her back. I really, really hope she isn't an early boot because of her relationship with Kyle.
I read Kamilla as Kamala, didn't see what sub this was and was throughly confused by the article.
It was a pretty wild 5 seconds
Same!
“We did it, Joe”
🤣🤣
Dear God I miss them.

Same lol.
I dont mind what survivor did with this cast cause the old school players have such huge targets. This helps even it out
One thing about this season that i think is a plus due to the overall questionable at times/underwhelming cast in some places is that everyone at least has some sort of threat level.
I think all the pre-waw players will try to ensure that the season won't turn into waw/gc 2.0
Secret alliance 2.0 baby! Out with the Kyle, in with the Joe!
This could bite me in arse 2 months from now, but Kamilla is my favorite in this cast, because she really walks the walk about her eagerness to play, much similarly to why I really like Rick.
im so down for justice for kamilla. shes great.
Kamilla’s exit press was soooooo surface level. It was the first thing Rob brought up on the 50 cast previews
One thing about Kamilla, she likes secrets 😭
Joe as a winner pick looking better and better
Joe was an awesome player. Just didn't stick the landing is all.
Kamilla is so funny I love her
I really wanna see her go far in a season where she has more agency throughout the game
I skipped 48 because I had a lot on and I heard the negative reviews… any thoughts on how I best catch up on these relationships? Just watch post merge perhaps?
It’s probably better binged. It actually had some very strong moments, it just gets dragged out at times. And pre merge was solid
If you don’t want to watch at all, honestly even watching the final tribal council could give you a good idea where the 50 contestants stood
Definitely better so far on the binge - I’m enjoying it much more rewatching than I did while it was airing!
Thanks, appreciate your thoughts!
48 is massively underrated here imo. It's a bit more old school feel with it being more relationship rather than blindside focused, but it still brings both
I stopped watching when star gave eva an actual idol
if you binge it it shouldn’t be as boring imo. I havent binged it bc I watched it live but I think binging it would be better
How great... too bad she's like the biggest threat behind Dee and Charlie on Kalo. That's unfortunate. Kamilla needed to come back later on if she wanted to play, but these people aren't going to give her the time of day. What a shame, because I really like Kamilla.
I read this quickly and thought it was political for a second. Ha.
me too
If you think about it, Joe theoretically holds a lot of cards, sure being a challenge beast could make him a target but aside from that, everyone (except maybe the 49ers) saw him being super loyal and that’ll be the perception of him so he could play a much sneakier game this time around if he wants,
He could lie and say he’s getting sticks for firewood but instead looks for idols or advantages and nobody would be suspicious
She's such a weirdo. Every relationship she has is a secret
It's a secret
maybe she just really likes dirty little secret by all american rejects
Haha who doesn't?!
How early did they know that they're gonna be on 50?
Joe was one of the most obvious picks in the New Era. Kamilla hiding that relationship in exit interviews in case she made the cut was just a savvy gamble on her part.
Pretty soon after Season 48 finished airing.
Kamilla is an interesting case because she also made an interesting comment about not wanting to do this season if she knew that Kyle was on it too.
find a new slant girl
Soo she was just going to try and do the same thing again? Zzzzz
That sounds more of what she did with Kyle. They both downplayed their alliance in the exit press after S48.
