Does anyone else remember the absolute chaos of the 2018 Trevor Ariza trade?
For those who weren't around, the Suns, Grizz, and Wizards had a deal in place that fell apart because Memphis thought they were trading MarShon Brooks, while Phoenix thought they were getting Dillon. It was one of the most embarrassing "broken" trades in NBA history.
Now that Dillon Brooks is with Phoenix, it feels like the universe finally corrected itself. How do we feel about his fit on this current roster compared to the young version of him we almost had back in 2018?
Edit: Title was supposed to be Eight not Six
One of JJs best moves was to manage still pull off the Oubre part of the trade after the Brooks part fell through.
Oubre & Rubio were the start of the culture turnaround.
Holy fuck that was 8 years ago? Jfc
Feels like that lazy ass Ariza was just here
Damn you’re getting old!
Covid has completely messed with my perception of time lol. Legitimately feels like only a few seasons ago
It was 7!
....
Oh fuck.
JJ knew
Still my favorite Game of Zones episode.
Been doing that a lot lately. Eric Gordon’s “heart is in PHX” but ended up not coming here only to later come with KD.
Thad Young had been a trade target for PhX seemingly every year until last season when it actually happened.
Imagine if we end up getting Kevin love... remember when we turned down a kyrie trade?
Steph was offered to us once. I know it’ll never happen but continuing the trend of all timers playing a spell in PHX with Steph would be soooooool dope
I wouldn't say he was offered to us because Golden State nixed the trade after they drafted him. Still crazy to think how that would've turned out. 09-10 wouldn't have been as fun without Amar'e and we were on the front door of the dark ages so who knows what would've unfolded, but you'd like to think they wouldn't have screwed that up.
I didn't put 2 and 2 tigether till recently.
That James Jones had wanted Dillon for many years, and here we go he is here.
I remember hearing Washington thought Phoenix was getting Dillon too. Obviously Memphis got cold feet. This is why Washington and Phx did the trade without Memphis
I remember it like it was yesterday...
I reflected on this strangeness a while back, but didn’t put two and two together that it was for Dillon. Absolutely insane.
GROWN MAN!
Feels odd to share these random memories with people like you lot who I'll never meet in real life.
With love from Sydney, Australia.
Seems odd that you and I are an ocean and several time zones away from each other and yet we share the same experiences and memories. So much so that we do the same thing at the same time and probably say similar things at the same time to our mates.
With love from Phoenix, Arizona USA
I am glad we found this common ground and shared memories.
Greetings from Adelaide, South Australia.
Umm yah I recall
