The Spurs are for real, but every other team ahead of the Suns has had the benefit of any easy schedule. The 2nd half of the season will change for them so it will be interesting to see how things shake up.

I haven’t said fuck the Lakers today, so fuck the Lakers
if you forget to say it one day you will say it in your sleep. your body does this automatically.
I usually wake up hearing myself say ..ck the lakers!
So we we have the 6th remaining hardest schedule in the league?
Yea
I think we have 6th easiest
No sixth hardest, weve had 12th hardest so far. Just seems a bad schedule for us this season.
Does strength of schedule account for back to backs and things of that sort?
OKC -> Houston was tuff
Nope, its just the record of the teams we faced/face. Its not actually that useful during a season. It more insightful looking back on when everything has played out.
how the fuck can we have a tough rank so far and tough remaining rank, while other teams have softer schedules so far and still softer ranks ROS?
Ya that makes no sense
Could be wrong here, but I would say there are variables in there to consider; b2b, road games, level of opponent. For example you could land a 30 if you’re at home with not many b2bs versing “lower ranked” teams. Converse could be true, also.
But it’s what sets these parameters that are questionable
Suns play the lakers and thunder 5 times also Houston 4 times
Because these are all imaginary and lack subtext. Lakers have 3 games left against OKC and 3 games left against Denver compared to the 2 we have against OKC and 1 against Denver. We have 2 games left against Spurs while Lakers have 1... except we beat Spurs 2-0 and Lakers are 1-2 against Spurs so far this season. When you average out all the remaining games you get Lakers have a 0.17 "easier" strength of schedule but make no mistake they got some losses left on their schedule lol.
Strength of schedule is an okay metric to glance at every now and then but it really doesn't mean anything until you dig in and see how teams are actually doing.
Okc has the hardest schedule for the rest of the season so no
To be specific i wasmt saying ALL othsr teams
I don’t know how SOS is calculated… but I don’t see how this is possible
Well we have to play the west more than the east
It seems weird that the lakers would have the 25th and 13th SOS, and we have 12 and 6. We have the same exact schedule as them except for one game (OKC in the cup) and games against each other. I don't think I can get behind this.
They must be accounting for refs bias…
Only thing I can think of is back to backs: how many and quality of teams
Theyre gonna play the knicks and pistons a few times here in a bit and then that sos remaining will go down
They didn't play their first eastern conference team until 12/29. They are going to start rolling through the east hopefully.
Suns have 2 games vs Knicks, Pistons, Celtics so those raise the remaining SOS
In the West, they have 2 games each vs Spurs, OKC, and Lakers(they count as hard)
so a lot of hard games left against teams with high record will keep this hard SOS. Adding Lakers and OKC games from the NBA cup tourney has made the prior games SOS hard.
We seem to have the Spurs and Lakers’ numbers so I’m not worried about them.
We’re not locked in there with them, they’re locked in here with us.
May I use this for a post? I'll make sure to credit you.
Go for it!
Thank you! Also can you tell me where you extrapolated the data from by chance? :)
I used AI to pull the information but the primary source was from Power Rankings Guru and then I also used Tankathon as an additional reference/check but specifically for the remaining SOS.
how does it get harder wth
I don't get it. I was looking at the Laker's schedule recently and they basically have 1 quality win against the top teams. Their wins are like nothing but trash teams and a few decent ones vs like us, MIN, and the Heat. That's literally it. When is their schedule supposed to get harder? I just don't get it
How do we have an even harder schedule remaining? That makes no sense
For people mentioned our weirdly difficult sos, a few things to keep in mind. We are in the west which means we play more games against western teams, which on average are more difficult. That puts is more likely to be in the top 15.
I would throw the Rockets in there too. KD is still ballin but when was the last time he played a season without an injury?
Cliche, but this team is scrappy as hell and i believe they can compete with anyone. It’s good to put some emphasis on strength of schedule, but the NBA is a pro league no matter what team you play and so far, the Suns have shown they can play with the best of them.
Steel sharpens steel? Getting the full team healthy for a 2nd half of the season will be fun to watch.
gonna be some retooling in the West for sure
Strength of schedule in theory always changes... A team can go all throughout their sked and will play all 30 teams and depending if all the teams at that point in time were winning, we'd always get a "hard" Sked because SOS always changes depending on the opponents win loss record...
Also schedulers can't make it "harder" For us based on Win loss record because they can't predict it at different points of the season... They however can control how many back to backs a team gets and how far they have to travel for road games so there's that.
IMO, the "harder" It is the better... It keeps us sharp :-) we've been winning "hard games" All season long anyway.
by being in the final 8 of the in season tournament, it bought them an extra game against OKC and the Lakers. Both of which we lost. That partially explains the high ranking of games played thus far
