Vi E ability is as follows according to league of legends fandom: "Relentless Force can  critically strike for (75% +  40%) AD bonus physical damage against the primary target. Secondary targets take the same damage but do not count as being critically struck."

What is deference between X amount of damage if they count as critical strike? Or am i misunderstanding the above sentence?

  • Not 100% here but critical strike matters in how they code damage for items like infinity edge and randuins omen and that’s it. Use this wiki btw, as this is the official wiki and the up to date one. https://wiki.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/Vi It would probably feel janky and sometimes op and sometimes mediocre if the shockwave also crit.

  • This is a distinction with no difference in most cases. Other targets will take the crit damage, it just won't count as a crit on them. This would probably only affect using the new Fiendhunter Bolts item.

Incorrect there are items like randuins and IE that might apply the damage multiplier if the bonus damage counts as a crit

Based on the wording, I would expect IE damage modifier to be carried over to the splash targets.

Randuin's should not reduce E crit splash damage but would reduce E crit primary target damage.

If it was worded as the splash damage will also crit ig it would just put a crit modifier on top of it.

What do you think the word "same" means?

  • FYI, fandom wiki is deprecated. Use the official wiki: https://wiki.leagueoflegends.com/

It's an ability that enhances an auto attack. These kinds of abilities always clarify whether the enhanced auto still interacts with crit, and how. Vi's E has special rules regarding the crit damage and the cone AOE, but other abilities like Darius W simply say "This damage is affected by critical strike modifiers".

  • It can crit for 75% extra damage or 105% if you have IE.

    And be reduced by randuins!

  • Some items amp critical damage and some items reduce critical damage so it matters only in the case that those items are in play

  • There’s a bunch of maths I’m not getting into, but basically a critical strike means you do double damage (100% increase), it has been changed several times now, as it’s been 1.50 and 1.75 before.

This means a hit of 100 damage does 150 (50% increase or 1.5) but recently it changed to 100% increase.

Wiki says infinity edge increases crit damage additively, so this goes from 100% to 140% (2.4)

Anyway, this means Vi’s E is doing 75% of that damage as crit + another 40% from her AD.

TL ; DR: is a lot of damage.
