I recently saw someone post a journal in which they collect all of their ink samples, and I loved the idea. Which of these journals do you think would work best? I’ll just be showing the inks in Copperplate calligraphy and dip pen, no swatches.
The notebooks I have are a Life Vermillion, a Clairfontaine, and a Midori.
tbh i would go with whichever one is closest to the paper you normally use to see how it looks on there.....
If you just want to show the properties it depends as each paper has its pros and cons wrt sheen, shading etc.
If you want it for practical use then you use a notebook with paper that you use regularly. You can always use two notebooks as well, I have a nolty and old hobonichi that I do swatches in because that's the paper I use most.
