For a first attempt at a full animated film from Sri Lanka, the visuals look fairly polished and clearly aimed at a global audience. The character designs and overall style feel modern, and it seems to blend local identity with a universal fantasy/adventure tone.

But with all the attention around it being the country’s first animated film, do you think the story and characters will live up to the visuals? How important do you think projects like this are for smaller film industries, even if they’re not perfect?

Interested to hear your thoughts, promising milestone or still too early to tell?

  • Saw the trailer on YouTube. thought it was a game and I was very excited lol

  • Oh c’mon guys, stop the negativity. Stop viewing it from a hollywood point of view. It was obviously never going to be up to that quality, because it was never meant to be. It’s the first of its kind, and I think we should keep in mind that our tiny ass island went through (and is still going through) the worst economic crisis in its history. The fact that it even made it to theaters should be celebrated, considering the enormous costs it must have taken. Besides, this is way better than the bs we call Sri Lankan cinema now

  • I just saw the trailer. Not the best animation but I think it's a good attempt to try something new. Hope it turns out well.

  • Why does everyone say it's the first 🤔 We had Gajaman earlier tho

  • Everything is relatively good. Dubbing is kinda meh.

  • Not a fan of the art style, it gives those Ratatoing vibes.

Also, just watched the trailer, yeah it doesn’t look promising

If you expect a mitchells vs the machines type of movie u gotta wait atleast 10 more yrs bro. This is groundbreaking for our film industry. Appreciate it

  • I think that by focusing more, we can distribute Sinhala, Tamil, and English animations on Netflix. The number of Netflix users in Sri Lanka is higher than cinema theatre ticket sales. (A 2025 digital report suggests about 17.75 % of Sri Lankan internet users subscribe to Netflix, possible 1-2 million user)

  • the voices seem to be AI generated, and some parts of the animation as well

  • Bruh Sootin Martin looks better

  • The idea is Awesome but the character voice feels lot of flat

And it's singlish instead of Sinhala ?

  • Honestly, the animation is not the best, but it certainly has potential.

  • it looks cool but why the indian accent in dubbing???

That's the typical sri lankan accent lol

no bro it's so forced. something's off

no it's the average one here, we don't sound too different from indians if the groups we're comparing are from the same socioeconomic background

no. I don't care how much downvote I get. I'm telling facts. Indian linguistics are based on their languages. most of those languages do not contain ඇ, ඈ vowels, ත, ද and ට, ඩ and ස, ච and ක, ග, හ sounds are grouped into single letter and so many reasons why our pronounciation differs from indian accent. that's why the way we speak is more sublte than indian accent. does not matter whether we are close, south indian accent does not equal to sri lankan accent

you seem to be dealing with some internalized racism or superiority complex(or perhaps both)

but regardless, the accent is not the issue, it sounds sri lanka. but the voices themselves sound AI generated

wtf. it's simply linguistics ffs. we have more letters in our alphabet that's it

we have 66 letters iirc but hindi has 52 so it's not a huge difference. the voices in the video definitely sound sri lankan, but they sound off, as if AI generated.
