Jawbreakers just aren’t the same, personally. I can find those in a lot of places. I like the sweetart type center and the fact that if I give in and bite them, they don’t… break my jaw, basically XD
This is probably Juno and not Cassini (Cassini was never was in a position to take a polar shot like this)
But fun fact about the Cassini mission, it was technically feasible (though never seriously considered for a variety of reasons) to visit Uranus or even Neptune after its mission at Saturn was finished:
Came to say same thing. Google lens says it is Juno as well. Still got 9.7k upvotes proving the saying, don't believe everything you see on the internet.
I did requirements and specifications review for this mission (then a dual mission CRAF/Cassini), and I followed Cassini my whole career after I left JPL. Still it is one of the best things I've ever been part of.
"Uh by the way I just wanted to bring this up: when you were flying by Jupiter, I saw you take picture of her from underneath her pole; I just wanted to say I'm really not okay with that."
This has made me wonder. Are the poles of all the planets aligned the same way? Are all north poles 'up' and are all south poles 'down'? Are any 'on their side' with the poles facing zenith/nadir in relation to the sun? If so, why or why not?
Wow you've got the saturation cranked all the way up on this bad boy. It is very cool though. This is a composite of several images taken by Cassini as it flew by Jupiter on its way to Saturn, using it's Narrow Angle Imaging Science Subsystem. If you're actually looking at Jupiter's south pole, you're not going to see that much detail up around the edges, as everything will look a bit more "squished."
Seeing this makes me want a set of dishes that is solar system themed. The gas giants could be the dinner plates, with the rocky planets as the side dish plates. Sun as a serving platter. Mold the flatware ends to represent moons, comets and/or asteroids.
As a fiber artist this makes me want to craft a Jupiter inspired circular blanket, rug or even a shawl. What a tremendously inspiring view of a beautiful planet!
Mmmmm jawbreaker 🤤
Galactus' jaw?
Speaking of jawbreakers, why can’t I find gobstoppers anywhere anymore? I bought a bunch last year and this year they’re just gone.
Jawbreaker is the North American word for gobstopper. Go to a well stocked candy store and ask them?

Yummy 🤤
Cassini and the voyagers are incredible.

I can't believe we still don't have a mission to uranus and neptune.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing that
Looks like a dish called “Dosa”.
If that's the dosa you're getting, the cook needs to get a thicker hot plate that heats up evenly.
Or or more likely just clean the hotplate.
Blueberry burnt dosa
I believe you meant NASA's Juno spacecraft, as Cassini was Saturn's project.
Cassini did fly past jupiter and took a couple photos on the way to saturn but it definitely didn’t take one from this angle
I have no trust in your Jupiter photos after your post 4 months ago with so much saturation.
What a lovely, multilayered blurseday cake.
This is from Juno, not Cassini. Cassini was the probe that went to Saturn.

I bet it's magical to be part of something like that.
Why is it such shitty resolution
Maybe OP is a bot and therefore doesn't have eyes.
Clanker discrimination!
Why is it green?
Jesus, it's 2025!
You can't just ask planets why they're green!
Im pretty sure it's lightning storms!
Boo da ba dee, da ba dai, ba ba dee...
Photoshop
Have some respect, did Jupiter consent to having a photo of its bottom posted online?
Is this real life color?
My immediate thought is that’s Jupiter’s butt.
It's certainly a very... candid shot, hmph... cough
First Jupiter’s anus, then on to Uranus’ anus.
Does anyone have a link to the real photo?
taken by NASA’s Cassini...and then butchered by being resaved as a JPEG at least 4 times, yikes.
Are those ovals smaller storms?
Define small?
SmallER than the great big red storm we all know so well. Love your username BTW.
The great big red storm has actually shrunk significantly over the few centuries we’ve been observing it.
Are the others growing in size?

I just made a dosa like this.
Lol I just seriously salivated over this before doing a double take
I swear it a crispy dosa
And this is when the Juperf (flat Jupiter) movement began.
Eye see you 🫵👁️
Reminds me of a banded agate
Second outside ring is a snake eating its tail- just so you know.
I like this version of Jupiter better than the old one
I will personally join the brigade to retake Jupiter's South Pole from Cassini. This aggressive land grab shall not stand.
Random thought, the big red ring with the eye reminded me of the myth about Jormungandr, so big it eats its own tail.
Ouroboros
Just gonna get some of that metallic hydrogen.
Thought this was a car lighter from the 80’e
I need a full set of plates showing the south or North Pole of every planet
Looks like a forbidden jawbreaker.
what a great view! we should upskirt all the planets
So that’s what that looks like
The cross section of Jupiter would look like the most incredible layer cake.
Looks like a nice plate design ngl

This shows the image as originally posted by NASA
This is not a porn. It's terrifying.
Looks like a dosa to me...
Clearly you haven't seen a dosa
Or what a Tidally Locked Planet would look like from the equator.
Thank you
Jupiter’s Uranus?!
Just huge jetstreams.
Cosmic upskirt.
🐝-You-🫖-full!!
i love the great red spot just staring down at you like an eyeball
Yummy hummus
Is that the big red storm bottom left ? It came back
Mmm Hummus
That’s the portal
Is this picture moving?
Outer Wilds taught me that there’s something waiting for me at the poles, but those storms are bigger than our planet…
Marble
This reminds me of Death's End when the entire solar system is reduced to 2-D.
Suuuree
Where Hexagon?
New Wax Mage pressings go hard
it looks like dosa we make at home
Maybe it is an eye :O
Amazing
Ombre yarn cake.
Is this a “true color” image or has it been enhanced to show features?
Masala Dosa
I saw this in my feed (which, admittedly, is a lot of arts and crafts) and just presumed someone had needle-felted Jupiter!
Thought I was in my r/pottery for a second
Couldn’t find a lower resolution image - huh?
Huuuuh?! 😄

dosa
Considering its 300x the size of earth that color structure is impressive
As a fiber artist this makes me want to craft a Jupiter inspired circular blanket, rug or even a shawl. What a tremendously inspiring view of a beautiful planet!
How is the entire south pole lit up?
Wasn't Cassini Hyugens expedition to Saturn?
Jupiter’s Uranus
I feel like we’re not supposed to look up Jupiter’s pants but we have
I want this as a cake. But what flavor?
It's God's hemorrhoid
Looks more like Uranus 😋
Dosa ?
Looks like a Cinnabon roll
How do they know it’s the South Pole in space
When was this? Any more details? Beautiful. My 5 year old is obsessed with space and I hate when I cant explain him new pictures.
FLAT JUPITER THEORY.
Is "south" appropriate term if planet doesn't have magnetic field?
