Far too many abusers and manipulators use the guise of Dom to take advantage of naive / less experienced people interested in BDSM. And of that many, most aren't just fake Doms because they're ignorant - they know exactly what they're doing and will run away when they come across a sub that won't fall for their shit.
Safety and satisfaction, in that order, are paramount (regardless if you're a Dom, sub, or anything outside and in-between).
How do we know though? Any advice? I am new to this world, currently online only.. I have someone who messages.. but I don't know.. part of me wonders if he is making it up as he goes along, or if he has experienced all he says he has.
Okay so I'm a soft dom and I do not spend time around other doms much. I had no idea what a fake dom was but YUP now I freaking do. I thought at first it was just subs that were trying to be doms but weren't good at it. Sometimes I come across as submissive because I'm very concerned about the comfort of others. I was a little worried that I was the problem too ;u;
The problem with a lot of "fake doms" in this context is a lack of education and practice dealing with these personality types. I think you guys throwing accusations about abusers and sociopaths might be better served with a bit of temperance
