Can anyone recommend any books to understand Maoism as an ideology more? I see a lot of history books about him but im not sure if they would contain as much in depth explanation of Maoism. Could I also have any Mao history book recs which aren’t completely biased?

Mao was a prolific writer. Sift through his catalog and pick something.
Mao wrote a lot of his own work you can read
Red star over china
If you are interested in philosophy and Mao contribution to dialectical materialism you can read his 5 major works on the topic: https://foreignlanguages.press/product/five-essays-on-philosophy-mao-zedong/
In the above site you can read or buy every essential maoist book widely available right now.
The best work on China during Mao originally written in English are William Hinton books. Out of them I recommend: 1. Fanshen 2. Iron oxen 3. Turning point in China
You should definitely consider the books of Mobo Gao as well and visit r/RevDem and r/communism where you'll find extensive lists of books.
Maoism is short for Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, so to understand Maoism means to see it as an addition or update to Leninism. For that reason i doubt history books would accurately tell what maoism, or even leninism, is. Even Enver Hoxha didn't really understand "Maoism" properly, despite writing against it.
