Is it common for people in Ireland to make friends online? I've heard it in the past that some friends from home have made friends online - just wondering how common it is that Irish people make friends on the likes of Instagram without having met the person before in real life?
I see a lot of posts on Irish Reddit threads where people are trying to make new friends, has this worked? Or is there a chance to meet new people through just sending a DM on Instagram if you know you both have similar interests? Obviously sliding into a randomers DMs can come off as flirting or whatever, but has it happened to anyone that something else has come out of it?
Responding to the Reddit threads has been a waste of time. I've lost count how many times I've reached out to people on here to never even get a response.
I'm actually convinced people don't want to make friends they just wanna feel satisfied that they tried.
Yes it's possible. I met some people online I still hang around with today. You have to be intentional though. Reddit, meetup.com, BFF. Ultimately it's a gateway to meet up and see if you vibe with the person.
Edit: Instagram DMs would be weird though, to me anyways.
I made so many friends online but always short lived . As soon as I think they are my friends I always get a "I'm getting feelings for you" kinda message and then realise it's friends looking for benefits. I'm social but some mistake it for something else 😢
