Hey folks!

Let me ask: is there really absolutely no chance that some firmware update could make it possible for the Snowsky Echo Mini to have gapless playback?

I saw a few discussions here in the community and went to do some research using Gemini I know it’s AI, but bear with me.), and even though some people said there’s no chance of it happening, I couldn’t find any precise confirmation from FiiO saying it will never happen, and I also couldn’t find any technical explanation for why gapless playback would be impossible on the Echo Mini.

Is it really impossible?

They’ve been pretty active with firmware updates recently.

Isn’t there some hope that gapless playback might be coming?

  • Why should we bear with you when you didn’t use a primary source in your research and resorted to using an AI chat bot? This topic has already been discussed and FiiO has already answered it. Maybe we shouldn’t off load every single ounce of thinking to AI chatbots.

I don’t think a forum with an entry barrier as annoying as ticking a checkbox (that often doesn’t work and won’t redirect to the forum discussion), and then pointing to an 80-page discussion with no context, works as a primary source. Especially when the supposed source is just a user called FiiO Kang, and there’s no explanation from the person who posted it saying that this person is actually a FiiO employee.

I think you should be more willing to explain and provide context for the sources you’re citing. I had already seen that thread, but I didn’t understand it because it felt like important context was missing.

That’s why I went to Gemini to see if there was any other source or research that could confirm, with absolute certainty, an official statement from FiiO saying it wasn’t possible. And I didn’t find anything. That’s why I came here.

So yeah, take it easy and relax, man.

  • Yes it’s impossible since the hardware doesn’t allow it

  • From what I understand it's something Fiio has addressed and said they won't be pursuing.

On the plus side, there's a ton of products they're releasing in 2026. Maybe theres hope for gapless playback on a newer system

  • The hardware cannot handle it, there are links to the discussions about it on another post.

  • Hardware does not support it. End of story.

    Gemini lol
