I'm wondering if it'll be fine to transfer a Lasagna I made into a slow cooker and keep it "fresh" until following days lunch (about 11pm to 11am).
Is this even feasible? I've never used a slow cooker for an outside meal, nor for a pasta-pasta heavy meal. Coworkers tried my leftover lasagna and really wanted to try it fresh for our Christmas party
Nope
Why all that effort just fucking reheat it. That's what they do at restaurants
It tastes vastly different, is all. I'll just make it in the morning if I gotta
Idk it usually tastes vastly different in a great way after reheating in my experience
For real. I’m making lasagna for Christmas and I am intentionally making it tomorrow because I know it will taste better reheated on Christmas Day.
We've only got a microwave as of yesterday, at least. If you guys are reheating in the crackpot, I'll try that. I've never done it before
I've reheated ours in the crockpot before. Just put your servings in the crockpot and set it to high. Usually it can be heated through in 40 minutes to an hour. I suggest adding a little extra sauce on the bottom before putting the lasagna in to prevent it sticking to the bottom at all. You won't need much, just maybe a cup or cup and a half evenly spread on the crockpot bottom and lasagna placed on top. Bit 12 hrs even in warm would just dry out your meal. Just plan ahead to get it warming up about an hour before you want to eat. Ignore the downvotes. People are being ridiculous harsh when you're just trying to ask a question and figure out how to work with what you've got currently. Happy holidays and enjoy your lasagna.
This sounds harsh but it seems like you're not reheating it properly. It should be as good as, if not better the next day because you've let the ingredients marry overnight.
I should specify this is my very first time holding a crackpot. Work has a microwave only, hence why I got it. If reheating is a thing you can do with it, that's cool and I get where you're coming from
However if you mean the microwave even, I do not know a human on this planet who can get fresh cooked food to taste the same out the microwave as it did fresh. It is literally a different form of cooking and doesn't preserve textures or moisture the same. Maybe some fancy chef microwave, but this ones got the bare minimum
How are you reheating it? That could very well be your issue...
Well, work has a microwave. Not much I can do about that lol. Unless reheat in the crackpot? I've never used these before I just got it for free n figured I'd ask
Not a great idea in terms of food safety. The keep warm setting on most slow cookers stays at about 120 F — which is ok directly after cooking fully at regular temp for approximately 4 hours. After 4 hours, food needs to be discarded at that temperature. If you properly refrigerate it prior to 4 hours, then reheat, it is safe. Overnight would be an opportunity for disastrous amounts of bacteria and toxins to build up….which would make everyone quite sick. Of course, if you really dislike the folks eating…
Honestly, lasagna is best when made a day or 2 ahead and reheated. It lets the flavors meld better.
You can make it IN the crockpot. Layer everything and cook on high for four hours. I used to do this for work parties all the time. Started at 8Am and ready for lunch!
Ill try this as it seems like the best way to go about this. Really worried it'll turn out weird since I've never done it like this, but I will trust
I've made this recipe before, from the back of the package of Knorr soup mix. But even this recipe only cooks for four hours in the crockpot.
Yea cook in the pot it is. I'll probably just make my noodles and sauce tonight and try to get it all layered and in the pot during one of my breaks.
Good grief y'all. So many down votes to someone just trying to figure out how they can use their crockpot for their needs. Instead of being helpful y'all are just down voting and being snarky. What's wrong with y'all!? It costs nothing to be decent and kind to someone.
Just make it in the crock pot. We do it and it's great.
Do you have a suggested recipe, or can i just use my oven bake recipe and be alright? I've literally never touched a crockpot till now, and it's some old-fashioned one

I've done this one many times and it's definitely good.
I've never tried it but I'm guessing it could get soggy?
