It is. We'll be eating the chili for a good week after the dogs are gone. Coulda also just slapped everything in the slow cooker and let it be, but browning the meat first and cooking the veggies in the bacon grease gives it a darker flavor
Also, this recipe, from a post on imgur years ago, is where I started my homemade chili game, and just using separate spices instead of the mix is a big jump in quality.
Didn't know there was a book, I owe this dude at least a book purchase, fair price to pay for a journey that now has people close their eyes and just sit and experience when they eat a spoonful of my chili.
This looks great.
Gotta say, I laughed when I went from pic 2 to 3 then back to 2. It was like, seizure, then ah yes quality with depth of field.
haha
Thank you for posting the progression pictures!

While it looks really good and I'd love to eat it. That is a lot of work for chili cheese hotdogs.

I just made a chili and put corn in it, never done it before, quite enjoyable. Lookin good bud.
I like hominy in there, makes it taste like you have corn tortillas already in the chili, for less carbs.
all day!

Imgur is EXACTLY where I found this book back in like, 2012. He encourages mixing your own. I definitely grabbed a chili mix though
