Forgive my ignorance but I’m in UK and not sure if we get sleepy wrens here (altho we have a small bird called a wren but maybe it’s different type); what’s the deal with these sleepy wrens?
Are they hibernating or is this just for one night only?
How come so many of them are sleeping in peoples stuff (no nests?). They look totally adorable and I’m kinda jealous tbh.
I think they're Carolina wrens. It's a one-night only thing - birds make nests for reproduction, they don't make them to sleep in. They tend to roost in trees or whatever overnight. These wrens seem to like tucking their heads into a corner at night.
Yeah, Carolina wrens in particular have a habit of roosting for the night in sheltered little corners of human structures so they get spotted pretending to be little pinecones and they're just TOO CUTE
I feel like this applies to quite a few things in my head now - some random knowledge acquired from Reddit, without local context! I’m glad I happened upon it tho.
So cute! But you know, we need to start cleaning off our porch-hostels.
idk, maybe they like the sheer curtain decor
It's basically an ensuite snack bar if the seamstress is still present

Thanks so much! I had never come across this phenomenon before I found this thread and was kinda confused. They’re so cute!

Agreed, they are totes adorbs borbs.
I've only learned about it from being on bird subs. I'm Canadian and I've never seen one in real life, but I've seen lots of pictures now!
