I'm a softie. I just adopted two little girls who had no other place to live. Put them in my home in Solitude, where my housecarl, Jordis the Sword-Maiden (she hates it when I just use her first name), will take care of them while I'm on the road. (I think she may have been a homeless orphan, too, but she never wants to talk about herself.) Anyway, when I told each that she could live in my big home, something got in my eye. Must have been dust or something. 🥲
Edit: For those who wish to adopt more than just the two allowed by the game, the mod Hearthfire multiple adoptions - Now with custom home support for kids and spouse at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community enables adopting more. Give it a check if you want to have more kids to spend your easily collected cash on. 😉 (There may be others, but I don't know them.)
Dude the adoption system in Skyrim hits different than it should. Those kids deserve better than living on the streets while we're out there hoarding cheese wheels and dragon bones lmao
It's really hard to choose which two of the dozen or so orphans to adopt. The kids in Solitude and Dawnstar who sleep outside in the cold? The war orphans who beg in Whiterun and Windhelm? The traumatized orphan who ordered a hit on his orphanage's headmistress? The other orphans who suffered under her? Or kill the abusive father in Rorikstead and adopt his children? So many choices.
I adopted the girl who sells flowers. I think her name is Sophia? I felt bad and kept buying flowers from her, until I had enough resources to adopt her.
Close. 🙂 She's Sofie, one of the two girls I adopted. She and Lucia are the two I adopted. 🙂
She's always asking for money though 🙄😂
Not if I'm not home. 😉
It's fine with me, since I can't give her any other gifts. That girl deserves ALL the daggers 😭
There is a bug with Sofie. You have to buy all her flowers right before you adopt her. If you do that, then you will be able to give her gifts.
Yeah, I read all about it after I adopted her 😭
You can always RP giving her gifts by just putting them in her chest. I buy, loot, and steal every doll I find for my girls...
I absolutely do this! She has a chest full of knives and vampire dolls, plus 1k gold any time she wants.
I gave runa that one guy's dead friend's lucky dagger
I have Lucia and Sissel 👏
Lydia hoards the dragon bones, I just make her do it
Your mom hoards my dragon bone teehee.
Cruelest thing Skyrim ever did was limit us to two adoptions.
I didn't learn mods for spells, or weapons from previous games, or to marry Serana. But I did learn mods to adopt more children.
Which mod lets you adopt more than two kids?
Hearthfire multiple adoptions - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/3862
Thank me later lol
I’ll forget later, so I’ll just say thanks now 😛 Cheers!
thank you!!!!!
I’d like to know, too!
Same!
There are Mods that let you Run the entire Orphanage, and adopt more than 2 children 🤩
Which one is that? I wanna do that so bad!

Riften Honorhall Orphanage Expanded!
Thank you!!!
i didn't know that. that's really sweet!
Some people have to live vicariously 🤔 It is Amazing that Skyrim has the ability to do soo much!!
oh! I've been dropping dolls and sweets at the orfanage lol
We should’ve been able to adopt every kid and put two or three in each house😭😭😭❤️
What about the little boy that sleeps on the hay with the horses in the Solitude stables?
On my current play through, I adopted him & Lucia from Windhelm. I wish I could adopt Sofia in Whiterun too.
Blaise from the stables was my first adoption in my current game. He's currently at Breezehome and unsupervised, other than all of the other townsfolk. I usually adopt Lucia as well.
I'd adopt other children, if I could, and they could stay in the other houses. They might as well, eh.
Shoot???
I'm hoping he meant "Save" but speech to text or auto correct... Failed them 👀
I meant “adopt” but I guess I typed wrong & damn auto-correct.
I’ve edited it now.

Alsean casually walking around Solitude with one of the deadliest artifacts on Mundus cuz that's the kind of Dad he has 😂
i adopted Lucia and Sofie❤️
Usually the same for me, but I always forget to buy all the flowers from Sofie before adopting her, so I'm never able to gift her anything 😭
Is that what happened? It's pissing me off that I can't gift her stuff. I bought all her flipping flowers. She must have restocked before I adopted her. Growl
I bought her flowers, sold her a 13,000 septim sword for 20 septims, then bought it back. She's flush with cash, I'm sure. 😀
oh i didn't even know she sold flowers lmaooo i found her sleeping on the ground and told her to live with me haha
Me, too. 😉🙂
Sofie I usually pass on, but only because she is not terribly off. She has a job, being mentored in being a merchant, has kids to play with. They let her stay at the Inn. In a way she has a town raising her.
Isn't she on her own? And she sleeps outside in the cold! And in that dark scary city. Nah, she's coming home with me. She likes Whiteruns tree!
I wish I could start an orphanage and adopt them all 😭
At least Lucía and Sofie now live in Soledad's mansion with their adoptive father and are happy 🥹
With the mod I note in the updated posting, you basically can. 😉
I play it on PS4 🥲
Ah, condolences. 😢
Nah, it's fine. I've been wanting to play it for like 10 years and I didn't have anywhere or any way to do it. Now that I finally got a console, I can. With that, I have everything I need 😊
Now slay them and fill your chests with their possessions……..
What happened? I blacked out for a moment.
The first kid I ever adopted was Sophie. The next time I got home, she told me that she'd found some things and put them in the chest in her room, and I should help myself.
She had the usual trinkets, but also some Emperor Parasol Moss. Girl lives in Falkreath Hold. How in the world does she get moss from Solstheim? Alchemy shops don't even carry that stuff. Something's going on with that girl.
Oh, and she also brought a Snow Fox home. Again, in Falkreath Hold.
When she told me about what she put in the chest, my heart broke a little bit more. I put some coin in it in response, without her knowing.
I adopted a child once for the achievement. I immediately save scummed back to being a childless murder hobo.
Stupid auto correct changed that to murmur hobo on me for some reason. 😅
I am laughing so hard picturing a murmur hobo.
Talos damn it, stupid autocorrect. 🤣
Same. Those kids go from grateful to demanding real fast. I already have real children to treat me like an atm and fuss about doing chores or taking care of their pets-- Skyrim is for me to be irresponsible, lawless, filthy stinking rich ho who don't need no Real Life.
In addition to the mod OP mentioned, it had an add-on mod called Heathfire Multiple Adoptions Expanded that makes it possible to adopt 8 kids and have each of them live in separate houses. I haven't fully tested it myself but it will definitely hit my need to be a good Samaritan
who wants to train kids into successful adventurersand fill up some unused houses.Yeah, I pretty much always adopt Lucia and Sofie. Out of all of the children in Skyrim, those two seem most in need of a home. Lucia is begging on the streets and picking pockets in the Inn at night. Sofie makes coin selling flowers, but she fails to sell them often and goes hungry, not to mention she sleeps on the ground in the snow. The only other kid I have ever adopted is the boy from Dawnstar, but he has a job running food to the miner and get to sleep by the fire in the Inn most nights. I adopted him before meeting Sofie, and I already had Lucia. When I found Sofie out in the cold, I was devastated. I never adopted the poor boy in another playthrough.
When I found out Sofie had no home and lived behind one of the houses on the east side of the entry (Niranye's house), it broke my heart. As soon as I got the home in Solitude, I adopted her (and I admit I wept a bit as she said she'd love to be my daughter). She and Lucia are being taken care of very well by Jordis the Sword-Maiden (as I said, she hates when I just use her first name) while I'm away. 🙂
This adopting dynamic is the soft spot of my warrior. I am building a small library for my girls . Books like Provinces of Skyrim, some fantasy books, some travel diaries that talk about interesting facts of the world. I also stock a cupboard with paper rolls and charcoal. These girls are gonna be some educated women. I even have this headcanon of one of the girls being an apprentice in the Sky Forge and the other one learning alchemy with Arcadia lol
There's a mod that allows them to "grow up" while you play. I haven't seen any that allow a woman to give birth yet, but I'm sure someone's going to figure that out sometime. 😀
I always adopt Sofie & Lucia. But I mod so I have 6 adopted kids, who I've housed in my larger house w extra room. N it's my home base, I go back constantly, so always grabbing em gifts n give them the 1000 anytime one asks lol. Also Dragons keep? Is the mod iirc. Basically able to send a bunch of orphans to, basically, Hogwarts LOL. But their house/castle/school is SO well done for a mod. There a whole interactive castle inside!! A pool, basically anything tbh could ever want! I always have a soft spot for the orphans. But I always bolt IMMEDIATELY to Sofie, lil flower girls who's "bed" is a patch of ice 😭
When I saw where she slept, my heart broke. IRL, I had tears in my eyes. It's like Bethesda really had it in for some of these kids. 😢
No because same. Like, my whole life has been "I don't like or want kids" No other game has hit in the feels. But I was so heartbroken, I bought ALL her stock till I got a house. Then she lives w me. Immediately. 🥹🥹🥹
I always bought all her stuff, and a few times, I even sold her a very expensive piece of gear, only to buy it back immediately. So even before I adopted her, my Sofie is pretty well off for one so young. 🙂
Is there a mod comparable for Xbox to adopt more kids? I want them all
Don't know – I play on PC, and can't say what works on X-Box.
No problem! Thanks tho!
Can you take them home and then kill them when you want to make room for more? I am on first play through and just level 12, no house yet. Sounds like a cool mechanic tho!
Maybe you have a soft side and want to help, but you also have a bad temper...
Too dark huh
