Got a new mod collection recently and one of them lets you just walk through companions and it’s the greatest shit ever. Don’t understand why Bethesda still doesn’t do this.
I had Serana resurrect an npc that was carrying a quest item before I could loot him. It turned to ash and the quest marker on the ash pile straight up fell through the floor in classic Bethesda jank fashion and I had to reload the area.
Really wish that i could do that in vanilla. I love vampiric grip, its my favorite spell, but since it can't be used without being a vampire lord i can only really use it in one of my playthroughs.
I just started playing Skyrim. I had Lydia with me. She was useful for killing enemies and protecting me. I got back to Whiterun and was informed she's dead and I got an inheritance and letter. I feel bad and also will it affect any future quest or storyline? RIP Lydia 😔
(Un)Fun fact: you are the one who most likely killed her, because enemies stop attacking your followers once they are downed (occasionally they will kill them by other means but usually it's you)
Fun fact: you are the one who most likely killed her, because enemies stop attacking your followers once they are downed (occasionally they will kill them by other means but usually it's you)
OMG WHAT.
Thank you for the clarification there that's good to know.
Also, you need to reevaluate what a FUN fact is. 😑
Yeah, you gotta watch out for area/splash damage, or just plain friendly fire, especially when your followers are down. I felt sooo bad the first time I killed Lydia.
On the flip side, if you get “healing hands” you can heal your followers after accidentally striking them, so, balance?
If she didn't die (of which you would have been notified and you'd find her in the hall of dead) then I believe they return automatically to their home location (Breezehome for Lydia)
Well then she's dead for good (unless you really like her and feel like using the console to revive her, in which case open console, click on her dead body and enter "Resurrect 1" - that 1 is there so that she keeps the items she had on her)
She gave her life to protect me. And in return, apparently I just struck her down without a thought exactly when she needed me, and I just left her rotting in a field or mine. Brutal
First time in got cicero i was like HELL YEAH! Until i went to the black realm mission were you NEED to hear those plants... i send him back to home to take care of mother 😂
He is a great companion but talk like a parrot on steroids
Serana once pushed my off the edge of a mountain because she wanted to stand in my exact spot. I was busy watching and waiting for a dragon to come close enough to hit and she pushed me off the mountain. I dropped her as soon as her quests were done. She’s a neat character but the worst follower.
I have married Jenassa and all. All followers get in your way, but Serana has extra actions she does when you're just standing there or remaining in a small area, so she will walk in front of you during conversations and other actions - Jenassa will not do that.
Some followers have additional actions that others don’t, causing them to engage with the environment differently. Like Serana will mix potions, but others won’t.
Serana's AI does things other followers do not - Serana will hang around, sit down, mix potions, lean on tables, etc. She will also wander around if you stand in place, which is why she gets in front of you during conversations with other NPCs. Even Frea from Dragonborn doesn't do extra stuff like this (that I've noticed)
Yeah, that's why I use the mod called "I'm walkin' here!" It covers followers, thralls, summons, and pets. Lets you walk right through them. Game is so frustrating without it.
"Vampires need to be dealt with. Hunted, rooted out, destroyed. Once there was a group dedicated to a similar cause. They called themselves the Dawnguard. That was a long time ago, but the idea was, and is, a good one. That's why I'm bringing it back.“
i fucking hate follower and i hate ppl who mod them they know the pain of followers BUT THEN they add line blaming you for walking into them when they are the one in the way
i am legit standing still and one of them walk into me and pushes me away THEN FUCKING BLAMES ME FOR BEING IN THERE WAY WHAT THE FUCK!!!
As much as I love the lore and the world, the followers are one of many things that are always just so immersion breaking in this game. I had Lydia stand right next to me and take the full force of the Greybeards' voice when I went to High Hrothgar, something that only I should have been able to do. I've had her stand in doorways where I couldn't leave. I've purposefully avoided pressure plates in dungeons and her just bee line right over top of them like I wasn't sneaking or something and get me or herself impaled on a spike wall. It just, man... I want to go back and play thru this game again but every time I do something breaks and I just quit.
I got a mod spell called Mage Grip, and it greatly improved situations where my followers were blocking my way. It worked like Telekinesis, but could work on anything less big than a Dragon. The number of times I yeeted someone because they were my way in a narrow cave entrance.....
Followers and pets. It's one of the main reasons I hate having them and every time I'm like "okay I'm going to try." They always piss me off or get in my way. So I tell them to kick rocks.
Blocking doors, pushing, so damn annoying. I've foosied many a follower for this.
Worse than this though is dragon age inquisition, where the party won't stand still, so distracting. And Mass Effect, where I've died on a toned campaign because I hot blocked in, and there's no way to make them move! 🤬
I had to restart a playthrough bc I had invited my wife to follow me and she stepped right in front of me mid swing of my battle axe. One-shot Aela :’)
Needless to say she never left the house after that
I do that often. Especially when she's in a corridor hiding and shooting icicles at people instead of moving up.
Also, when I return home and go up to the tower, I use fus-ro-dah to yeet her off of the tower for fun.
Just don't do it too much in a short time, though. She goes into hostile mode and that's a really bad thing to deal with.
Well, that is one way to get Serana to move. 🤣
LMAO Skyrim physics said “say less.”
Literally say less, you dont have to shout at her! 👁👄👁
Got a new mod collection recently and one of them lets you just walk through companions and it’s the greatest shit ever. Don’t understand why Bethesda still doesn’t do this.
I hate when Serana resurrects a dead NPC when i was about to loot it.
I had Serana resurrect an npc that was carrying a quest item before I could loot him. It turned to ash and the quest marker on the ash pile straight up fell through the floor in classic Bethesda jank fashion and I had to reload the area.
😂 "Why didn't you finish the quest, Dovahkiin?"
"The quest marker fell through the fucking floor."
That's annoying. Previous save never helped i'm assuming?
I just had her wait around the corner the next time so she wouldn’t have the chance to fuck me over again
You can actually give then a decent sword while looting them and they'll use it if they have nothing else.
Or the resurrected NPC stands and blocks a narrow door or entry way.
Sometimes yeah haha I also have a mod which improves telekinesis so I pick up my followers and yeet them.
I did that to Neloth once too, and he didn't mind. Honestly I think he respected how bold I was to yeet him across his own mushroom.
Is it the Push, Pull, Repulse mod?? I love using it to yeet people off cliffs
I use Improved Telekinesis, actually!
You got to tell me which modd that is.
I use Improved Telekinesis!
Now that'd be a way to take out Grellod the Kind!
Telekinesis drown her in the canal.
Really wish that i could do that in vanilla. I love vampiric grip, its my favorite spell, but since it can't be used without being a vampire lord i can only really use it in one of my playthroughs.
She just wanted to push the buttons too:(
I just started playing Skyrim. I had Lydia with me. She was useful for killing enemies and protecting me. I got back to Whiterun and was informed she's dead and I got an inheritance and letter. I feel bad and also will it affect any future quest or storyline? RIP Lydia 😔
It won't. Rip Lydia 😔🙏🏻
Thank you for your thoughts during this difficult time.
Just thought, wherever Lydia is now, she's just lying there, dead, alone, maybe naked.
I don't know where she died. I completely forgot about her actually until my return to Whiterun
(Un)Fun fact: you are the one who most likely killed her, because enemies stop attacking your followers once they are downed (occasionally they will kill them by other means but usually it's you)
Edit: added (Un)
OMG WHAT.
Thank you for the clarification there that's good to know.
Also, you need to reevaluate what a FUN fact is. 😑
Fixed it for ya
Yeah, you gotta watch out for area/splash damage, or just plain friendly fire, especially when your followers are down. I felt sooo bad the first time I killed Lydia.
On the flip side, if you get “healing hands” you can heal your followers after accidentally striking them, so, balance?
Hey thanks and that sound's useful. Problem with Lydia, I have no idea where she is? I don't even remember her disappearing. 😩
Yeah, if you’re hearing from the courier, it might’ve been a minute.
If you have that companion perk from Hermaeus Mora any magic or shouts won't hurt your followers. They'll still get yeeted, but they'll be alive
If she didn't die (of which you would have been notified and you'd find her in the hall of dead) then I believe they return automatically to their home location (Breezehome for Lydia)
Alternatively help yourself with console commands
Oh she's big time dead. I had someone at Whiterun waiting for me to tell me she's dead and gave me some gold and a letter.
Well then she's dead for good (unless you really like her and feel like using the console to revive her, in which case open console, click on her dead body and enter "Resurrect 1" - that 1 is there so that she keeps the items she had on her)
Average first Skyrim play through: Lydia dies and you have no idea where she is
She gave her life to protect me. And in return, apparently I just struck her down without a thought exactly when she needed me, and I just left her rotting in a field or mine. Brutal
The body storage cell usually is where everyone ends up, dead and itemless.
I straight up refuse to ever have a follower unless the quest or mission forces me to have one. My only real companion is my horse.
I hate this. Like, I would get one but… I’d hate it.
Umamusume
Calo
Me too, Cicero though sometimes, when I want to hang out with clowns. But he gets on my nerve sometimes.
First time in got cicero i was like HELL YEAH! Until i went to the black realm mission were you NEED to hear those plants... i send him back to home to take care of mother 😂
He is a great companion but talk like a parrot on steroids
In contrast, literally the first thing I do in every single playthrough is go and get Barbas.
I'm the opposite because I love followers' shenanigans and would be bored without them. Had them from day 1, for 3 years now.
https://youtu.be/GUl9_5kK9ts
I did not recall that video having such explicit horse penis.
Of course. Who hasn't?
Rip Lydia. It was a mistake.
I just did this today. Was getting my ass kicked in a dungeon and I accidentally shouted in her direction.
Serana is the most likely follower to get in the way lol
Serana once pushed my off the edge of a mountain because she wanted to stand in my exact spot. I was busy watching and waiting for a dragon to come close enough to hit and she pushed me off the mountain. I dropped her as soon as her quests were done. She’s a neat character but the worst follower.
Never played with Jenassa I see. For an archer she sure is dumb about moving to be in front of my loaded bow.
I have married Jenassa and all. All followers get in your way, but Serana has extra actions she does when you're just standing there or remaining in a small area, so she will walk in front of you during conversations and other actions - Jenassa will not do that.
Not a genuine follower, but Barbas is more into he way than anyone.
Yeah Barbas' movements are very erratic
Do different followers have different AI regarding this or is it just confirmation bias?
Some followers have additional actions that others don’t, causing them to engage with the environment differently. Like Serana will mix potions, but others won’t.
Oh that actually makes sense
Serana's AI does things other followers do not - Serana will hang around, sit down, mix potions, lean on tables, etc. She will also wander around if you stand in place, which is why she gets in front of you during conversations with other NPCs. Even Frea from Dragonborn doesn't do extra stuff like this (that I've noticed)
I usually don't take a follower, so I don't often have this problem 🤣
Exactly. I learned to this on the dog quest. I was done with anyone coming along. Grab 100 weight bonus in pickpocket and I'm good
For me, it's because I hate when followers die. Best way to keep them alive is to leave them home. 😆
I mean, generally I just politely ask if they can "wait over there".
Yes...I roast them. ("Them" is usually Lydia)
Yeah, that's why I use the mod called "I'm walkin' here!" It covers followers, thralls, summons, and pets. Lets you walk right through them. Game is so frustrating without it.
No, they don't. Mostly because I don't use followers because of things like that, or them walking on traps I've carefully avoided.
I find myself doing this at least once per session! 😁
Isin't taking people optional though?
I like to hit my follower with my shield if I have one. For some reason I live the sound it makes.
I'm completely convinced that unrelenting force was designed for this in mind
Omg so relatable the same exact puzzle with serena blocking my way I got so pissed off just a few days ago my god!!!
That vampire deserves everything it gets.
Found Isran's Reddit account
"Vampires need to be dealt with. Hunted, rooted out, destroyed. Once there was a group dedicated to a similar cause. They called themselves the Dawnguard. That was a long time ago, but the idea was, and is, a good one. That's why I'm bringing it back.“

i am legit standing still and one of them walk into me and pushes me away THEN FUCKING BLAMES ME FOR BEING IN THERE WAY WHAT THE FUCK!!!
ahem sorry i got a bit heated here
yup, it's bad enough when you get one or two, just think when you have four or more.
This is MY story!
Yeah thats why Lydia is the 1st nuisance i kill
As much as I love the lore and the world, the followers are one of many things that are always just so immersion breaking in this game. I had Lydia stand right next to me and take the full force of the Greybeards' voice when I went to High Hrothgar, something that only I should have been able to do. Wait this is the female Fus Ro Dah? Damn. It has significantly less "oomph".
Conversely, I've never heard the male one.
You never watched the trailer or youtube videos? Really?
Nothing that ever uses the male shout. Or if I have heard it it just never clocked in my mind.
I didn't start playing Skyrim until 2020, either. So i never watched any trailers or anything.
Hmm. Most would look back at the trailer even if they played late. 2011 was the release but I was only able to play on 2016.
I had friends who recommended the game. I think the only ES game trailer I've watched was the Elder Scrolls VI teaser trailer, lmao.
Elder Scrolls VI. Lol. I would probably be near retirement by the time that comes out.
I got a mod spell called Mage Grip, and it greatly improved situations where my followers were blocking my way. It worked like Telekinesis, but could work on anything less big than a Dragon. The number of times I yeeted someone because they were my way in a narrow cave entrance.....
I swear, it's always Serana that this stuff happens with, she's a menace
I normally leave my mule at the entrance of the cave to avoid this type stuff
Having this issue with Barbas all the time ugh he’s so annoying but i love him
Yes fricken bone dog kept getting in the way of a narrow passage I couldn’t move, dumb mutt
Oh yeah that quest where you go beep beep boop boop until it opens
Never. Never ever ever has my follower not gotten in my way and I've not been able to just, move around them with ease. So not really.
well u see no reason being i dont like using them for that reason
Gogh always summing a storm attronach in front of me casting a spell
Actually sneeze? Yer all the time I'm allergic to followers
Fucking doorways! Next elder scrolls we need a kick button. Just for companions! Wide ass heavy suited bitch
That seems to be the most popular use of the shout.
I always tell them to stay put, near the door, so I've never had any issues at all.
That and the constant “what do you need?” Whenever you stand remotely close to her
All too often, every player has at least gone through this once in their entire playthrough.
Yea
I had two separate gameplays where Lydia walked directly into my fire beam while casting and died
I swear Serana is the worst follower for getting in the way. She ruined my wedding AND Kodlak’s funeral in my current playthrough
Hence I no longer use much magic. I tend to kill them too much
Yes. Lydia gets an attitude with me. If only she knew how many times I have killed her and loaded her back to life. Sometimes just to prove a point.
"Stop touching shit and sit yo ass down"
Yep, I’ve shouted a follower out of the way a time or two😂
Followers and pets. It's one of the main reasons I hate having them and every time I'm like "okay I'm going to try." They always piss me off or get in my way. So I tell them to kick rocks.
Get the Fus out the way!
Mine stays stuck somewhere and I have to go back and find her. No i did not tell her to stay here. Another one of the many glitches. Oh well.
What's that audio going around? Not now kitten whiskers! Daddy is busy!
I make them stand on the lower platform and wait. Even then I get annoyed at looking at then and still fus ro dah them
haha I just did this mission and had to go across the room, tell her wait here, then go back over to do the puzzle. She’s so damn annoying
That’s how I end up killing them. 🙃
the way that i was doing this exact quest and she just wouldn’t move
Blocking doors, pushing, so damn annoying. I've foosied many a follower for this. Worse than this though is dragon age inquisition, where the party won't stand still, so distracting. And Mass Effect, where I've died on a toned campaign because I hot blocked in, and there's no way to make them move! 🤬
Don’t even know how many times I’ve had to do this to Serana
Only one that gets in the way is barbas. Bro keeps pushing me 😭
It's my go to. Theyre always in the way so I yeet them
This is the reason I avoid followers like a plague. They only get in the way and are rarely useful for me
I usually sprint into them to push them out of the way. This method also helps skip conversations.
Yep. I use mods and Inigo gets fus-ro-yeeted all over the place.
I forget about that shout so I'm just endlessly annoyed
Literally all the time. I rarely have companions with me, but when I do, they find themselves airborne more often than they'd like.
I stopped having followers for this exact reason.
i don't have follower i use Exploding Arrows
they all go away in the end
I had to restart a playthrough bc I had invited my wife to follow me and she stepped right in front of me mid swing of my battle axe. One-shot Aela :’)
Needless to say she never left the house after that
I do that often. Especially when she's in a corridor hiding and shooting icicles at people instead of moving up.

Just don't do it too much in a short time, though. She goes into hostile mode and that's a really bad thing to deal with.
All the time
this is why i never use followers 😭
Serna is a paid actor
Lydia! That’s the best way to get her out of doorways. 😆😆😂😂🤣🤣
That's quite rude of your
Playing modded with cheat room usually get mad silent kill my follower then resurrect them >.>
Every single time
This is why I sacrifice Lydia to Boethia... every single playthrough.
Ya gotta sack someone who deserves it, not the one sworn to carry your burdens :(
I do the same. Idk what it is about her. Something just screams sacrifice me to Boethia with her
I always wondered, was that a Hudson Hawk reference?
