Well, that is one way to get Serana to move. 🤣

    parent root

Got a new mod collection recently and one of them lets you just walk through companions and it’s the greatest shit ever. Don’t understand why Bethesda still doesn’t do this.

    parent root
  • 258 points vijura1807

I hate when Serana resurrects a dead NPC when i was about to loot it.

    parent
    90 points Bubba_Feetz

I had Serana resurrect an npc that was carrying a quest item before I could loot him. It turned to ash and the quest marker on the ash pile straight up fell through the floor in classic Bethesda jank fashion and I had to reload the area.

    parent root
    17 points ohmygawdjenny

😂 "Why didn't you finish the quest, Dovahkiin?"

"The quest marker fell through the fucking floor."

    parent root
    2 points vijura1807

That's annoying. Previous save never helped i'm assuming?

    parent root
    6 points Bubba_Feetz

I just had her wait around the corner the next time so she wouldn’t have the chance to fuck me over again

    parent root
    26 points HorzaDonwraith

You can actually give then a decent sword while looting them and they'll use it if they have nothing else.

    parent root
    9 points New-Sky1009

Or the resurrected NPC stands and blocks a narrow door or entry way.

    parent root
  • 256 points pandakatie

Sometimes yeah haha I also have a mod which improves telekinesis so I pick up my followers and yeet them.

I did that to Neloth once too, and he didn't mind.  Honestly I think he respected how bold I was to yeet him across his own mushroom.

    parent
    29 points vicvonqueso

Is it the Push, Pull, Repulse mod?? I love using it to yeet people off cliffs

    parent root
    3 points pandakatie

    I use Improved Telekinesis, actually!

    parent root
    14 points Ikbeneenboom

You got to tell me which modd that is.

    parent root
    3 points pandakatie

    I use Improved Telekinesis!

    parent root
    8 points GroovyGhoulArt

Now that'd be a way to take out Grellod the Kind!

    parent root
    3 points Actually-Mirage

Telekinesis drown her in the canal.

    parent root
    3 points Different_Heron9151

Really wish that i could do that in vanilla. I love vampiric grip, its my favorite spell, but since it can't be used without being a vampire lord i can only really use it in one of my playthroughs.

  • 35 points EzrasTalons

I just started playing Skyrim. I had Lydia with me. She was useful for killing enemies and protecting me. I got back to Whiterun and was informed she's dead and I got an inheritance and letter. I feel bad and also will it affect any future quest or storyline? RIP Lydia 😔

    parent
    28 points ZenoD96

    It won't. Rip Lydia 😔🙏🏻

    parent root
    13 points EzrasTalons

Thank you for your thoughts during this difficult time.

Just thought, wherever Lydia is now, she's just lying there, dead, alone, maybe naked.

I don't know where she died. I completely forgot about her actually until my return to Whiterun

    parent root
    21 points Wasdog17

(Un)Fun fact: you are the one who most likely killed her, because enemies stop attacking your followers once they are downed (occasionally they will kill them by other means but usually it's you)

    Edit: added (Un)

    parent root
    24 points EzrasTalons

Fun fact: you are the one who most likely killed her, because enemies stop attacking your followers once they are downed (occasionally they will kill them by other means but usually it's you)

    OMG WHAT.

Thank you for the clarification there that's good to know.

Also, you need to reevaluate what a FUN fact is. 😑

    parent root
    9 points Wasdog17

    Fixed it for ya

    parent root
    5 points nnevernnormal

Yeah, you gotta watch out for area/splash damage, or just plain friendly fire, especially when your followers are down. I felt sooo bad the first time I killed Lydia.

On the flip side, if you get “healing hands” you can heal your followers after accidentally striking them, so, balance?

    parent root
    1 points EzrasTalons

Hey thanks and that sound's useful. Problem with Lydia, I have no idea where she is? I don't even remember her disappearing. 😩

    parent root
    2 points nnevernnormal

Yeah, if you’re hearing from the courier, it might’ve been a minute.

    parent root
    8 points Rare-Entertainer-770

    parent root
    2 points kekamals

If you have that companion perk from Hermaeus Mora any magic or shouts won't hurt your followers. They'll still get yeeted, but they'll be alive

    parent root
    2 points Wasdog17

If she didn't die (of which you would have been notified and you'd find her in the hall of dead) then I believe they return automatically to their home location (Breezehome for Lydia)

Alternatively help yourself with console commands

    parent root
    1 points EzrasTalons

Oh she's big time dead. I had someone at Whiterun waiting for me to tell me she's dead and gave me some gold and a letter.

    parent root
    2 points Wasdog17

Well then she's dead for good (unless you really like her and feel like using the console to revive her, in which case open console, click on her dead body and enter "Resurrect 1" - that 1 is there so that she keeps the items she had on her)

    parent root
    5 points boat--boy

Average first Skyrim play through: Lydia dies and you have no idea where she is

    parent root
    4 points EzrasTalons

She gave her life to protect me. And in return, apparently I just struck her down without a thought exactly when she needed me, and I just left her rotting in a field or mine. Brutal

    parent root
    2 points Ambitious_Freedom440

The body storage cell usually is where everyone ends up, dead and itemless.

In contrast, literally the first thing I do in every single playthrough is go and get Barbas.

    parent root

  • 10 points beckychao

Serana is the most likely follower to get in the way lol

    parent
    3 points Ghost-Music

Serana once pushed my off the edge of a mountain because she wanted to stand in my exact spot. I was busy watching and waiting for a dragon to come close enough to hit and she pushed me off the mountain. I dropped her as soon as her quests were done. She’s a neat character but the worst follower.

    parent root
    6 points haywoodjabloughmee

Never played with Jenassa I see. For an archer she sure is dumb about moving to be in front of my loaded bow.

    parent root
    12 points beckychao

I have married Jenassa and all. All followers get in your way, but Serana has extra actions she does when you're just standing there or remaining in a small area, so she will walk in front of you during conversations and other actions - Jenassa will not do that.

    parent root
    2 points Firm-Scientist-4636

Not a genuine follower, but Barbas is more into he way than anyone.

    parent root
    1 points beckychao

Yeah Barbas' movements are very erratic

    parent root
    1 points vicvonqueso

Do different followers have different AI regarding this or is it just confirmation bias?

    parent root
    3 points nnevernnormal

Some followers have additional actions that others don’t, causing them to engage with the environment differently. Like Serana will mix potions, but others won’t.

    parent root
    2 points vicvonqueso

    Oh that actually makes sense

    parent root
    2 points beckychao

Serana's AI does things other followers do not - Serana will hang around, sit down, mix potions, lean on tables, etc. She will also wander around if you stand in place, which is why she gets in front of you during conversations with other NPCs. Even Frea from Dragonborn doesn't do extra stuff like this (that I've noticed)

    parent root
  • 8 points RevolTobor

    I usually don't take a follower, so I don't often have this problem 🤣

    parent
    3 points BackbackB

Exactly. I learned to this on the dog quest. I was done with anyone coming along. Grab 100 weight bonus in pickpocket and I'm good

    parent root
    1 points RevolTobor

For me, it's because I hate when followers die. Best way to keep them alive is to leave them home. 😆

    parent root
  • 5 points squirrely-badger

I mean, generally I just politely ask if they can "wait over there".

    parent

    parent
  • 3 points ZeldaCourage

Yeah, that's why I use the mod called "I'm walkin' here!" It covers followers, thralls, summons, and pets. Lets you walk right through them. Game is so frustrating without it.

    parent
  • 3 points Interesting-Ad4207

No, they don't. Mostly because I don't use followers because of things like that, or them walking on traps I've carefully avoided.

    parent
  • 2 points Spilt_Blood_

  • 1 points gerowen

As much as I love the lore and the world, the followers are one of many things that are always just so immersion breaking in this game. I had Lydia stand right next to me and take the full force of the Greybeards' voice when I went to High Hrothgar, something that only I should have been able to do. I've had her stand in doorways where I couldn't leave. I've purposefully avoided pressure plates in dungeons and her just bee line right over top of them like I wasn't sneaking or something and get me or herself impaled on a spike wall. It just, man... I want to go back and play thru this game again but every time I do something breaks and I just quit.

    parent root
    1 points No_Paramedic4667

    parent root
    1 points Firm-Scientist-4636

Nothing that ever uses the male shout. Or if I have heard it it just never clocked in my mind.

I didn't start playing Skyrim until 2020, either. So i never watched any trailers or anything.

    parent root
    1 points No_Paramedic4667

Hmm. Most would look back at the trailer even if they played late. 2011 was the release but I was only able to play on 2016.

    parent root

I had friends who recommended the game. I think the only ES game trailer I've watched was the Elder Scrolls VI teaser trailer, lmao.

Elder Scrolls VI. Lol. I would probably be near retirement by the time that comes out.

  • 1 points Perscitus0

I got a mod spell called Mage Grip, and it greatly improved situations where my followers were blocking my way. It worked like Telekinesis, but could work on anything less big than a Dragon. The number of times I yeeted someone because they were my way in a narrow cave entrance.....

    parent
  • 1 points LeonSKinnidy

I swear, it's always Serana that this stuff happens with, she's a menace

    parent

    parent
  • 1 points ToxinFoxen

I do that often. Especially when she's in a corridor hiding and shooting icicles at people instead of moving up.
Also, when I return home and go up to the tower, I use fus-ro-dah to yeet her off of the tower for fun.

Just don't do it too much in a short time, though. She goes into hostile mode and that's a really bad thing to deal with.
