Forced wireheading would be bad. Very bad. I do not want to be subjected to classical wireheading personally. But letting fully grown adults choose what they want to do with themselves, including wireheading, if they fully understand the consequences and aren't coerced, is good.

And regarding: "emotional dysregulation" - my theory is that it is contagious. When I observe myself, its often the behavior of someone already in dysregulation who throws me into it.

But my knee jerk reaction to your post is - currently, good-boy LLMs are a real joy. Enjoy it while they're not holding impliments of torture. (I.e adverts)

Just look no further than ukraine, uighur, haiti, gaza, india/pakistan, india/china, sudan .... to know that. Heck, just look at the left and the right in any global north country.
We have developed Atom-Bombs. Soon, AI will be used on the battlefield. What might be the next invention of mass destruction?
Having these powerful tools in the hands of emotionally disregulated people will cause unimaginable suffering in the best case; if not outright extinction.
And don't get me started on the state of our eco-system.

May I ask what throws you into emotional dysregulation?
With me it can be something banal like accidentally dropping something important but I usually can re-regulate pretty quickly.
What throws me for a loop long term are interactions with persons in a position of power who are dysregulated.

Hard agree. If a western tech company aligns their Ai it will be aligned to them, not humanity.

My look to ukraine is one of the things that convinced me of the necessity of this.
