There was a dearth of learning materials - and out of sheer luck, a student at 四川大学 (曾老师 bless her heart) was doing a thesis on Sichuanese and part of that was teaching an optional Sichuanese course for the foreign languages of Mandarin program
I am not a native speaker. I went to live in Sichuan for a year and once I realised that amongst each other everyone there speaks Sichuanese, I really wanted to learn it
