Picked this up for virtually free. Needs all new brake lines ran and some wiring issues. What can anyone tell me about these? Good? Bad? Only has 85k on it.
No I mean as a senior in high school I probably spent about as much along with my friend group to rent the thing as you paid for it outright. Get a chauffeur license and you can make your money back in no time!
Lmao that would be funny and that’s exactly what I’d use it for. I have kids so they are excited to ride in it after the brakes are fixed. Drove it an hour home with shitty brakes and I got tons of looks.
Standard panther platform issues... AC compressor going over time, leaking airbag suspension (easily swapped over to coil/spring), plastic intake manifold might crack eventually if it wasn't replaced, HVAC blend door actuators were flakey on some years. Some years the AC water drain drips on the frame and rusts. Electrically lots of people have issues with the lights behind the window switch burning out.
Sounds like a lot, but lots of them make it past 200K.
The suspension has already been switched over to coil springs in the rear. So no more air ride. As far as the other things, they seem very minor/common to any car.
I’m in western pa. So not a huge amount. It’ll be parked for the winter anyways. There are a lot of spots where the paint is bubbling and the rust makes are starting to come through the paint though.
Coachbuilder here: the town car is amazing. I have yet to come across another coachbuilder that does quality work. Almost always replace ALL WIRING. Add insulation, probably going to find a ton of rust behind bars and seats.
You’re absolutely right. There’s a ton of rust back there. A lot more than I expected to be honest. It seems to hold moisture for some reason and I still can’t figure out why. Is replacing all the wiring necessary? This thing has a ton of it. I know it has a bad ground wire for the fuel pump and some of the lights don’t work. Fuses and relays are all good.
The frequency with which I find that the blower motors have wiring that is too small for the current draw of the motors is far too high. Most of these limos are built without an electrical engineer and most people don't realize that longer runs of wire require a lower gauge of wire to achieve the same job. Many of the electrical connections are not done very well.
It reminds me of spending too much money to go to my senior prom 20 years ago.
Like I said, this was practically free. So it’s no money wasted really. Sat for 2 years. Spent around $200 to get it running. Drives amazing.

Thought about it but absolutely not. Need a cdl with class b and passenger endorsement. Plus business insurance. Cheaper to just joyride lol.
Now I’m cracking up just picturing some guy in a limo pulling into a spot at sonic to get a burger 😂

I want one for camping

Also any of the limo specific stuff.

Yeah they're quite reliable. It's a big v8 that's not under much stress.
One last one, if you live somewhere with a lot of snow the front fenders are prone to bubbling and rust under the paint.

Makes me think, how do you even get a limo on a lift ?

Looks beautiful. Good luck with your purchase.
If you could fix that up you’d be the coolest cat in town.
My boss went to her prom in one of these.
lol ya ya I know it’s old. But it seems pretty solid still.
I dig it!!!!!!!
Go glamping
85,000 miles is nothing for these cars. It’ll easily do thrice that.
Looks more like something you'd take a 5 hour nap in than something you'd ride around town in.
Limos are so stupid and impractical
Tell me you can’t afford or drive a limo without actually telling me….
Bruh limos once were a luxury thing now it’s just cheesy way of transportation for bachelor party’s.
Bachelor parties? Haha I’m using this to grocery shop bruh.
Sounds like you are a jealous poor person.
Didn’t realize the people on this sub actually love limos. That’s even funnier though.
If you can't trust Skibidi Rizzler 96, who can you trust?
