People who act like any fucking souls like game (yes, even LotF 2014) is even close to the same level of purposefull ragebait as games like getting over it or altf4 are definitely a special breed
Bed of Chaos comes to mind. But even the worst souls bosses aren't meant to piss you off, they sometimes just accidentally suck. Anyone who faces them and unironically says "it's hard for the sake of hard" doesn't know what "hard" actually is and simply isn't a fan of changing their way of thinking
my first foray into ds1 filtered me and enraged me.
then i played god eater and code vein, came back and everything fell into place.
I had some exposure therapy to correct my perspective and even if i get frustrated by a boss or runback, i'm fine. I can channel that into a neck crack, edge of chainsaw from chainsaw man and then winning the fight.
I was taught that the first attempt (even the first few attempts) is always recon where your goal is to learn the boss, not beat it. It's a lot less frustrating with that expectation.
I mean I went into Dark Souls expecting it to be like I Wanna Be The Guy levels of fucking with the player just to be mean, because that's what the internet in 2017 wanted me to think it was, so I understand having that as a first impression.
But after actually playing the games, you should understand they (mostly) weren't designed with deliberate cruelty to the player in mind. They just make it a point not to give you unearned victories. It's not ragebait to make a game require your full attention and patience. It's just an engaging challenge.
It sounds to me like he was introduced to Dark Souls as "the hardest game ever made, like if Super Meatboy and Kaizo Mario had a baby that was an action RPG. The game made to piss you off, crush your balls, and crown you the king of gaming if you manage to survive it" and he just wanted to be part of that culture. The culture that I don't think Fromsoft ever really intended for Dark Souls.
Had a friend years ago who freaked out hen he learned I'd beaten Dark Souls, going on about how some random dude at the game department of Wal-Mart had been saying "it's the hardest game ever", claiming Miyazaki had told players that they would die a million times before beating the game, and a whole bunch of other stupidity. I tried to explain to him that no, it wasn't that hard and it was perfectly doable but no, it was always brushed off with "You're so good at games you just think it's easy."
It took years to talk the dude into actually giving the game a shot. I warned him about the skeletons at the start of DS1 and told him if he was having trouble early on to talk to me and I could give him some advice, but the next time I found him he was just bitching about the skeletons and saying he threw the game out in the trash. He got really angry at me telling him he was overreacting. Insanely so, and he absolutely refused to admit it, demanding I play him in chess because if he beat me then that meant he was smart and just
I get angry but its usually a im having fun angry. I never blame the game. Most the hard from soft bosses are well telegraphed and just take time to learn. One if my friend has a friend who told him he dont like dying in video games. Like bro dying in most games isnt even a big deal. Why should the game just let you win? At that point are you even having fun? I just don't get it man. To each thier own i guess though. I really hope your friend is able to see why we love these games eventually. Ill admit when I first played dark souls 3 I thought these games were overhyped, but after time I got real bored of gaming and thats when I returned and found my love for fromsoft games. Your friend might come around.
I think that soulslikes are supposed to be rage inducing, they should have troll moments, like two wheel skeletons in ds1 in very narrow hall which looks like something important but actually dead end or one particular chest in Eleum Loyce in ds2. But getting mad just dying twice at Vordt? Feeble cursed maidenless soul.
Reminds me of that dude who said soulslike suckew because they are "tortureporn" for masochist, and as soon as you finished 1 extremely hard boss you have to fight another extremely hard one.
Talk about overexagerating. Dark souls isn’t there to ragebait you.
Sounds like hes annoying as fuck to play games with
Smells like bitch in here

The only boss in recent memory for me that made me legitimately angry was the valiant gargoyles because they are illogically shitty to deal with.

that’s the kind of person who’s never faced accountability in their life
Sounds like performative masculinity. 😑
Dude has anger issues and is ironically too mad to admit it.
Sounds like someone who will never know peace nor find satisfaction unless he changes something in his life.
tbh i also kinda get pissed if i dont first try a boss but how is that the games fault 😭

Guy's a fucking loser, why would you play DS3?
better than ds2

>dies twice
i can't even muster the sekiro joke, bro hasn't had a hard day in his life

Dude should never play something like Cat Mario
Some people are just like that

God it was infuriating.
This sounds like a good time to whip out the old reliable:
Git gud

Bro intentionally died to Vordt just as an excuse to get mad 😭😭
