My 3 senior kitties get regular vet checkups, like once yearly for regular bloodwork or twice yearly for my oldest (19) who has lots of chronic conditions. They get offered wet food 3+ times a day, in order to help out their kidneys (most cats will get some level of kidney disease as they age, and all 3 of mine have it now). They also each get some of my undivided attention everyday, whether it's through playtime, cat TV time (documentaries), or snuggle time.
Thank you so much for your advice! Over time, he stopped eating dry food; now I only give him wet food, but simply because he never wanted to eat the dry food again. We went to the vet this year, but only once. I'll see if I take him again soon. Congratulations on your kittens! 19 years old! Amazing! An inspiration to me.
