Start with short sessions to get used to the feeling, build it up slowly. Don't expect to be able to sleep a full night in it on the first go. Even 2 hours will take time. Leave yourself some slack too, don't strap everything down as tight as it can go, that way you have a little bit of movement for if/when muscle cramps hit. And finally, for long sessions, make sure you had enough to drink so you're not dehydrated and have plenty of the right minerals to avoid cramping.
First make sure you have a good matress because the lack of it is going to make it significantly worse. Second, start small so full setup but like set up a goal for an hour, this is the standart lenght of restraint in psychiatric unit i think you know how i know this- if not lets say my life is a bit shitty so far when it comes to my messy brain, then you can build on top of it but i fall asleep after an hour so idk. And i have tthe full reinforced 10 point setup, its even here multiple times in this subreddit.
I just ordered the complete 2222RE its supposed to arrived this week. I have been training to sleep in it by using leather restraints to position me the same way a segufix would every night. So far I've slept better then I normally do, but I have sensory issues and enjoy the compression/restrained feeling. I imagine I will sleep like a baby in actual Segufix.
Practice, build up to it, see what works and doesn't for your body. You can always adjust the setup to make it more comfortable for you and you'll work out over time!
I would just first install everything, and do a perfect setup, for the best comfort.
Then just test it, without intention to sleep.
So you learn how you like it or what can be improved.
Then with the knowledge what the maximum restraint will be, you can start step by step.
This , yeah.
What is comfortable for a few minutes can be different than what is comfortable for a few hours. , need to work-out the way to setup best for yourself.
This sounds like a cool project :) How are you going to use Segufix? With a partner, or alone? If alone, are you gonna set up the restraints so that they are inescapable with a time controlled lock, or are planning on leaving a key nearby so you can free yourself at will?
As others have already mentioned, this is all about practice and getting used to wearing the restraints. The more you use Segufix, the easier it gets. However, from my experience you need to use it a lot, and i mean every night for several weeks or even months. And in the beginning, this can be a real challenge, and requires a lot of dedication and discipline
First, You need to have a strict bed time regimen where you go to bed at the same time each night. Remember, you also need to factor in that strapping yourself down in a full set can be quite time consuming. I personally need approximately 30 minutes in order to strap myself in correctly. So you need to dedicate extra time to this project.
(That is using a full set in an inescapable/no backing out-setting where my wrists are locked and controlled using icelocks. If you have someone to assist you, or you plan on keeping your hands free then its probably quicker)
You also need to factor in that for the first few nights, you will probably not sleep at all. Or only get very limited sleep at best. So if you have a busy schedule, or otherwise need to wake up early then this can be tricky.
You also need to wear a diaper as its really impractical if you have to unlock yourself every time you need to use the bathroom at night, and then having to strap yourself back in.
I also recommend having a table or a nightstand with basic necessities next to the bed. For example water.
I wish you the best of lucks :) And i am really interested in hearing how this goes :) I personally tried to train myself to sleep in Segufix, but i had to back out after a few nights because it became to much of a hurdle.
