Agreed, end result is incredible, but if I was a collector I’d be on the fence about adding this to my collection. I’d probably rather everything be original, even if it’s ratty and torn.
If done correctly, restoration is a separate layer that can be easily removed. The destroyed original is still there, still destroyed, only preserved and masked by the restored bits.
This is a weird thing that we do as humans... we could literally recreate the exact same poster with modern ink but we all know there are going to be people out there that are like "it doesnt have the same feel" which you cant really discredit as its this nebulous term that applies only to those whom are saying it.
Not to discredit the artistry behind this, cause its wild and awesome... its just to me weird cause you know this wasnt cheap at all.
Beautiful. That looks like a very expensive process.
someone taking the time to restore a 40 year poster with the same care as a ancient manuscript is wild.
I like to think she’s listening to the music of whatever poster she’s restoring.

I gotta admit , I was hoping you found something like a McClintock mash-up, but og is a good choice.
Reconstruction maybe

I would like it after the first couple steps, flattened out and mounted to a nice canvas, then frame and preserve.

Me too, it would bother ne it had been fixed.
Acid free and... What?
It sounds like she says "reversible" but that doesn't really make sense to me.
EDIT: She says it at 0:34 (2:00 remaining.)
In the context of the video, I'm guessing she means that the changes are reversible, if you want it back in the original condition for some reason.
The skill and technique on display impresses me a lot, but the original poster looked way cooler when it included the wear imo
Just scan it in and fix it in Photoshop
But why???
