The cognitive dissonance needed to own a Mexican restaurant called Barrio whatever in the most Mexican neighborhood of the city and at the same time support white supremacy is beyond comprehension.
Barrio dogs was expensive anyways.. I only went once. Hearing about the ownership just makes it even more sweet. Lola’s Lumpia’s in that area on the other hand has amazing owners and great food.
The owner of Barrio Dog was an asshole who was always on a power trip. Classic case of little man syndrome. Happy this place shut down as it was a disgrace to the neighbor.
Does any restaurant these days last longer than two years? Fuckin hell, Landlords and Insurance, let us develop a bit of local character why don't you.
I was just there a few months ago. Def not closed, drinks were good when I went and a live band. Don't know the history but doesn't seem to track on the "being closed."
Its been closed for almost a year now. There was drama also around the owner being a proud boy supporter which could have hurt business as well
There were multiple owners, one of which I knew personally. They were one of the worst people I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting.
Oh, well, I’m suddenly less sad they’re not around.

There are loads of non-white white supremacists.
Which is its own kind of WTF.
See: MAGA trans people
“We are the immigrant, immigrant haters! We feed immigrants to Alligator (Alcatraz)!”
I like the big words, makes you sound smart. And me, nocho.😆
There you go. That'll do it to ya
It closed about a year ago
People are idiots. Result in their own downfalls.
If you’re in a buzz, you should, “ shut up and fly straight “ (not preference wise.😁)

They got political and alienated the base. Won't be missed.
The owner had a horrible attitude she would give people these nasty ass looks. That’s what happens when you start treating people poorly
Can’t make food and America great again at the same time
They were fake pretending to be into chicano culture while being hardcore proud boy supporters.
They were not fake pretending.
Apparently, the community was not fonda enough of it, to keep it in business...
Ownership was rude

This place is really good.
I agree. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good food for decent prices.
Nice! Will check it out.
I wanted to recommend it on here before but I’m too lazy.
Forgot to mention - sometimes they have some live music. Not too loud, of course. I like that in a place a lot of time.
Cool, like that too. Not much of that in San Diego.
Weird that we're getting downvoted for this mild convo.
Are we? Hahaha
Yeah when I responded you were at -1 and I was at 0.
I went to Fonda del Barrio a couple of weeks ago and the food was really good.
I liked Barrio Dog, but FdB is an excellent replacement.
Fonda Del Barrio is absolutely worth a trip. Great food, great drinks, super affordable. Love the value!
same thing that happened to Porky Land
Pretentious and expensive! Dogs were good, but over the top...price as well.
Who cares, barrio dogg fell off long ago…
Does any restaurant these days last longer than two years? Fuckin hell, Landlords and Insurance, let us develop a bit of local character why don't you.
Don't know if that'll happen anytime soon especially in San Diego sadly
You mean 7 Mares!?
The 7 seas restaurant

The “closed” conversation is about Barrio Dogg, not Fonda Del Barrio
Aah. Pic was deceiving, was going to say I was actually impressed by fonda but you never know owners these days
