• Doan has been such a brilliant pick up. Between his effort on the ice and his comments about wanting to be the solution and stay in Buffalo & the energy in the building... what an absolute breath of fresh air!!

It’s pretty funny he’s probably Adams best move and even that couldn’t save his job

Kevyn Adams, typical “Trades Won” merchant

He honestly kinda set up a stud team lol

And was right the entire time

Right message wrong messenger kinda thing 😂

Very much that situation. From everything read and seen, Adam said lost the room partly through a combination of promoting people to early and through the way he rose to his role. In the role as it was he wasn't terrible (if anything has shown to be above average) the one the culture and everything was so driven by the way he got there it didn't really matter.

Does he get his name on the cup when we win?

That’s a good question. It’s probably up to the organization, but given he got fired so early in the year, that would be a fairly generous move by the team.

if 80% of the players he signed he deserves it

If we win the cup this year I expect my name to be on the cup cause the only way it’s happening is from my exteme dedication as a fan. I’ll just buy a replica and put my name on it

They get like 52 names I believe. I could see them adding it

You can't take 5 years to be right

except that's usually how long a rebuild takes? you're getting like 2-3 NHLers at best per draft, and each draft still needs time to develop.

Lets say you draft a 1C, 1LW, 2RW, 3C, 1LHD and 2RHD. That's a great foundation for a rebuild but in no way is that happening in one or two drafts. And then you still need to get lucky on trades and the occasional depth FA pickup--and no matter how good of a GM you got some of those will be busts

I disliked KA too, but hockey isn't like football where you can turn it around in 2-3 years

That's reaching. That's building a whole team, not rebuilding. They haven't gotten better in that five years, they got worse.

Hockey is like football, it is a 2-3 year turnaround, especially when the playoffs have more than half the teams in and a lot of teams are 2-3 wins from being in or out.

And he was 0/2 in the team making the playoffs in seasons we expected to have a chance.

Some have argued that 0/2 is too short. I'm not certain myself, but I understand the argument.

I will say, the roster seemed somewhat promising this summer, and once the team got healthier, that's proven to be the case. (eg like 109 pt pace with Benson in the lineup)

We needed to get that hurricane outta the front office before 05-06 night

The play and style is the key. He is giving the team a bump like how Foligno did when he first came up, north/south power player brings the contact at every chance he gets. If he was playing that style with 10 points it would still help a team that has been soft to play against for two decades,

But since he has been consistently getting points and chances, and also is throwing in enough skill goals and plays to be trusted on the power play, it opens up a ton of space on offense for everyone to get that extra split second you need.

We haven’t had this exact player type in forever, but damn is it nice to have 6’2 version of Benson style compete and harass.

  • At the trade I straight up did not think Doan was capable of this. With the great underlyings and his age, I expected a guy like McLeod as his ceiling, and more likely a bottom six energy guy/pk guy who would put in 25-30 points without PP time. Turns out he’s the best forechecker/backchecker (with scoring talent) I’ve seen on the Sabres since… mike peca?

Month or two ago I guessed a 55-60 point season as he looked awesome. Now I think he has 65 in him in future seasons. He’s still young enough.

I was hoping for a good 3rd line wing at best. He’s been absolutely incredible.

Based on age, pedigree, and metrics, I was thinking we had low-key picked up a potential 20G, 45-50P guy, but he’s surpassing even my expectations.

    Why stop at 65?

40g 40a in a year or two. LFG

Yeah sorry. Doan is a ton of fun but he's not in league with drury or peca. Maybe 05-09 derek roy

    Did Roy hit people?

He was a great fore and backchecker

More on his way. 05-06 Roy was nowhere near 07-09 Roy.

Let's pump the brakes a little.. he has been very good for half a season and exceeding all his past years.

Let's see it for longer than that and I start believing. But he has passed the eye test.

    He’s really young

Yup, strong start for him. He has been moving up the lineup and does not look out of place on the first line. Him and tommer are hitting it off. Find a nice winger to replace Krebs and we got a first line

him and Tommer have been working out in the offseason for 2 or 3 years now...they were team USA teammates as well...so yes thompson is very comfortable with him and i bet he got in the coaches ear that they can work together

  • I legit thought he was the throw-in and that Kesselring was the prize. Kess has been hurt too much to really tell, but Doan is a diamond already.

He was. He certainly had good traits, but at his age and production, this is a ++ on any reasonable expectations for this season.

the X factor was his upbringing and how he was taught be a player...i had a feeling he would embrace the whole thing..

  • He’s added a level of physicality this team needed. Way too much soft skilled play. His style gets the people going and he’s a beauty. He got an opportunity and ran with it

  • For me personally, Doan has gone from "just an add-in on the Kesselring trade" to "my favorite player on the team" in a matter of half a season. I haven't gotten it yet, but I plan on getting a Doan jersey when I have the money for it.

  • Everyone Loved Skinner at the trade and look how ya’ll ran him out of town
