Heeey, my partner applied and got an offer for a city job that is basically administrative work no driving of city vehicles or anything. Does anyone know if they drug test (for weed) for this specific type of position? From what I’ve seen it was ruled out in 2020 ish to test for this recreational substance, but we want to make sure bc this is a great opportunity 🫶😌☺️

  • They will still test, even if your positions don't require driving a city-issued vehicle. You'll need to provide proof of prescriptions for certain medications as well (stimulants, benzos, etc.)

    What about w e e d?

I had a job where I had to drive city vehicle and didn't get tested once

You mean pre-employment or just never randomly after you were hired?

We found this online for the city of Richmond, and the way it reads it doesn’t seem like it but idk they don’t want to ask bc that seems a little suspicious lol RES. 2020-R030

I became employed by COR over a year after the resolution was adopted and I'm still pretty certain they tested for THC (as in, I think it was included in disclosure/consent paperwork I signed when the testing was done at one of the approved labs the city provided.) I've never worked in a lab but I assume they use multi-panel tests which often include THC, and that's a function of the individual lab vs the City.

I would operate under the assumption that it will appear even if the res. implies that testing + for weed won't disqualify you from employment. That's what it will read on paper, anyway.

Not to be a weenie, but you worked in an admin type position and not public safety? We found this online and it seems like they don’t test as of 2020- RES. 2020-R030

  • Just quit long enough to pass the test. Cmon now, if it’s a good job it’s worth it

Problem is if you ever have any kind of incident driving a vehicle while employed you're getting drug tested immediately

Yeah, it takes 30 days to get it out of your system and if a test is within that time, that’s not enough time to get it out of the body. And just fyi they have quit :p

It takes more time to get out of your urine. I had to stop for a job to I would recommend to stop at least 2 months in

It depends on a lot of things. How much water you drink, how much you exercise, your body fat percentage, whether you’re smoking herb or concentrates or using edibles.

There are cleanser drinks that work pretty well. You can buy them online.

hell you can just buy one at the vape store or GNC

Lots of hydration and cardio can get it out faster

Depends a lot on your weight and how much you partake. W e e d (lol) is stored inside of fat cells. If you’re heavy set and a daily smoker, no amount of hydration or exercise is getting it out in under 30 days.

A few years back I was in this situation and I did a “cleanse” from this company Toxin Rid. It cost a couple hundred bucks and I had to take these pills and chug water every hour and pee a ton for a few days, but it did work. I was too sketched out to try the fake pee. May be worth a shot?

If your partner doesn't have a high body fat content, they can easily pass a lab test in two weeks. They just need to do a lot of cardio each day until the last day and a half before the test, eat a fatty meal the night before, drink a loooot of water the day of the test, then time vitamin B complex tablet right so that there's enough color in the urine for the test to not get thrown out but not so much that it looks neon.

  • I’m a city employee (since 2022) - they do drug test for everything including THC as part of the employment screening

    Urine or mouth swab test?

Are you in public safety, or a desk job w no interaction w the public?

Animal control, was hired as an ACO but now work in admin. Had to get drug tested for any accidents/incidents in the field when I was on duty, and then again for my promotion to admin. We also get random testing too

  • I don’t know if they do, but I would act as if they do if it were me and my new job. Lots of places are excluding THC from testing, but some places aren’t.

  • Hired recently. No drug test.

  • Op when you do find out the answer please come back and post again lol, half these answers are totally conflicting

  • Go spend the money on a medical card. They don't know where you're getting the stuff.

  • Why not just stop smoking w e e d when you're looking for a j o b?

I’ve already talked about this in other comments- they have, but if a test is required there may not be enough to have it out of their system. The job search started when the T break started so a quick turnaround.

I didn’t finish the rest of the thread to see if someone else mentioned….

Go online, spend the however much it is to get a “Medicinal” card. I’m pretty sure they hand those make pretend hall passes out immediately after the “telehealth appointment.” They can’t contest it when it’s “allowed” by the state to have it. Yes I know how gray area this can be, but it’s a fighting chance at least.

Interested in end result of situation

  • They do drug test for weed. Allegedly if you have a medical card you’ll be alright. Allegedly.

  • It depends on whether or not the particular department has any dealings with govt at a higher level. General rule of thumb is if they interact with the federal govt on any sort of regular basis, they’re gonna test for THC.

  • Medical card protects you for state jobs. Youngkin actually signed off on that.

  • My fiancée was tested when he took a state job over the summer.  He’s in finance, so no law enforcement and no driving.

  • Just ask them, it's easier and if they don't, no worries

Idk, as a city employee my benefits are amazing and I get so much paid time off. Paid mental health days, vacation time, sick time, plus all the standard and additional holidays. The family leave package is also really decent

Hey now, it's 3.7 hours! So don't spend that extra .2 hours in one place

But seriously, just to clarify for anyone reading since many places use PTO to refer to all of the time that is taken off but paid, combining sick and vacation: you get 3.7 hours of vacation and 3.7 hours of sick per pay period. An even 4 hours would be nice, but knowing your sick time doesn't destroy your vacation (unless you use all your sick time and need to use vacation for sick leave) is great.

My dude, that’s vacation only, sick time is separate. Also that’s…plenty imo?

That’s….a completely average amount of paid time off

    Well it’s terrible

shit thats better than my job. we only accrue one a month and only get 14 days a year total for i think 5 years🙄

My mom retired from the city. She loved her job and made a lot of connections with various names of Richmond.

  • Work at the city and no they don’t drug test

  • Been at the city 10 years, I was texted back then. New employees (6months) wasn’t tested. We drive city vehicles.

  • Didn't THC just get reclassed? If you have a valid Rx you can be in the military now. I don't think it matters anymore.

It was not reclassified. Basically the EO was to get the necessary studies completed to eventually move it to schedule III, instead of schedule I.

  • I have a friend who was hired in the last two years, administrative role, and they weren't tested.

  • 100% chance they will test

  • if they what test? for what?

I dunno why you’re getting downvoted. This is an underrated comment cause why tf does OP think you can’t say drug or weed hahaha it’s Reddit 😂

    I fixed it 4 u dood lmao

Literally thought it was funny, that’s why lol if I wanted to be cryptic I would put sum like w 3 € |} hehe

  • No it’s an admin job, they only test for jobs that require a CDL
