• My spouse is Army and a Russian speaker and says марш бросок 🤷🏻‍♀️

марш бросок может быть и на технике

  • Рюкзакинг

  • There's no translation for rucking. You either use "ракинг" which is simply a cyrillic writing of this word or add "с утяжелением", "с дополнительным весом" to the context. "Я бегаю с утяжелением" – " I'm jogging with weights on" basically

бег с утяжелением, бег с весом, бег с грузом лучше всего подходят. русский это не язык легких терминов, как английский. но не удивлюсь если ракинг приживётся

Ну, хайкинг прижился, так что и ракинг вполне себе может...хотя для наших ушей, наверное, несколько странно звучит 😀

Есть ощущение, что "ракинг" скорее приживётся в киберспорте

  • In my classes, I’ve learned there isn’t a direct translation for hiking so I figure rucking might even be harder to translate. Especially when done on a treadmill.

Example: do you work out? Yes, I ruck on a treadmill (wear a weighted vest while walking on a steep incline on a treadmill)

Yeah, as far as I know there is no 1 word for that.

"Мой брат бегает с утяжелителями." Is a phrase that I have used before. But, that hasn't included the "steep incline" part.

It's not like english has a well esteblished word for it, it's just a new word made from "rucksack" . Niche groups who do this might have a special verb, but generally in russian you just describe an activity, so you sentense would be

Хожу на беговой дорожке с утяжелителями

  • Поход already implies you are hiking with a backpack. A short no-gear hike can simply be referred to as прогулка, or радиалка if it's a shortish there-and-back done from a camp on a stopover day during a large hike.

Марш-бросок is a specifically military term that usually implies other gear in addition to backpack, and likely some running.

For rucking in a city, as training, outside of the hiking context, I don't think we have a special word. It is thing though, like waking up and down the stairs in your apartment block to prepare for a summit.

  • There is such exercise but no special word. We just say "бег с утяжелителями" if weight bound to your hands and legs or "бег с рюкзаком в гору" about that specific exercise in military.

  • Идти на поход с тяжелым рюкзаком
