I think she's got an ego and arrogance that isn't making her look good on the show. The whole "why wasn't I picked" added with the whole "disco is my era, I'll show you why it's mine" and the flop performance just made her look dumb

I have been getting severe whiplash over Athena. Episode 1.. the mother of Miami can't sew.. okay, no problem, not every seasoned queen sews. Episode 2.. she can't sing.. okay, you don't have to sing to be a good drag queen, that's just for tv anyways. But the performance? That I can't overlook
im gonna be honest i didnt like that look at all. it was too much red and it swallowed her. and then going "i dont have no backrolls" while the camera is actively cutting to her backrolls... 😭

Yeah, people forget that aside from lipsyncing and stamping a great mug, Morphine sucked in Drag Race. It's like the Dion legacy in RPDR at this point to be terrible in Drag Race lol.

Love Morphine but aside from great confessionals and lipsyncs, she wasn't super stellar in the challenges. I would say she more so lightly jogged rather than ran.
Sometimes a queen goes into drag race with a reputation, and they get into their heads very quickly. I hope she's able to get out of it, but as is, I don't think she's long for this season.
She's insanely beautiful and personally I live for the diva attitude she has. She's fun to watch. My pre-season predictions had her as a shoe-in for the top 4 but I don't know if I'm convinced anymore because I think she's getting the 'delusional' edit, and so now I'm just waiting for her to either crumble or finally get her moment in the sun where she impresses everyone. Regardless of what ends up happening, I'm enjoying her a lot.
She is very average for the reputation she had coming into the competition. Is she good tv? Yes…but she is getting the delusional edit of Q and Loosey from recent seasons and Q’s fashion and comedy are leagues better than Athena’s.

I think she fits de Loosey Laduca spot each season has… Very professional, probably more experienced than the rest of the cast, but not so great for Drag Race. They present themselves as ambitious and with grandure, and producers see this as the jackpot for a story line. Let’s get her to be close to winning, or underperform, so she can’t understand way and tortures herself, so we can get more views 🤷🏻♂️
She is an amazing TV character and for that reason I enjoy her enormously. I think she's very beloved and easy to love. She is a bit dramatic and thats her personality and she wears it confidently and well. Its inspiring actually.

I don't know why I like her so much. I'm usually not big on the Alexis Michelle types, but I find her very believable and authentic for some reason, even if she hasn't turned it out to the level that she's selling yet.
Whenever a queen walks in that all the other contestants know and say they are intimidated by, it can only go one of two ways. Either they dominate the season and confirm they are who they say they are (Chad Michaels, Sasha Colby) or they flop hard.
So far, I would place Athena in the latter category.

I actually think Athena is getting the complete opposite of Sasha's edit. Sasha was respected by the queens and production showed her as the mother and icon she is. Whereas, Athena two episodes in has been shaded by her fellow queens several times and production has gone out of their way to portray her as delusional, bothered, and as a bit of a villain.
The edit she is getting so far is making she's probably not going to win.

I think it's a case of what might be amazing in a club doesn't always translate to being amazing on Drag Race. But she's pretty good TV, so that will probably be enough for awhile.
Episode 1 - loved her. Thought she made a solid design; a little soured by her not helping Juicy (altho how much help could she reasonably give beyond moral support?)
Episode 2 - I can understand her being plucked about not being picked. And understanding wanting some preference for the genre. It’s. It’s not fair but how the cookie crumbles. I was turned off by how she seemingly took it out on her teammates who were in the same predicament as her. She tried to choreograph, but she wasn’t really a good leader (she wasn’t designated for sure but she assumed it IMO when she tried to take rein) and also wouldn’t allow DD to contribute, which was unbecoming. Kinda shocked she want in the bottom two (perhaps because Mango would have dug her grave).
Overall: I am not sure why the show is trying to humble her via this edit but I believe she’ll be able to get it out of the mud.
I saw someone say that she might be expecting to receive the Sasha Colby experience, and when she wasn't getting it, she's kinda crashing out. She's getting the Alexis Michelle special instead, which is very entertaining in my book.

She's getting the Loosey treatment instead of Sasha Colby.
I think it's a case of what might be amazing in a club doesn't always translate to being amazing on Drag Race. But she's pretty good TV, so that will probably be enough for awhile.
Episode 1 - loved her. Thought she made a solid design; a little soured by her not helping Juicy (altho how much help could she reasonably give beyond moral support?)
Episode 2 - I can understand her being plucked about not being picked. And understanding wanting some preference for the genre. It’s. It’s not fair but how the cookie crumbles. I was turned off by how she seemingly took it out on her teammates who were in the same predicament as her. She tried to choreograph, but she wasn’t really a good leader (she wasn’t designated for sure but she assumed it IMO when she tried to take rein) and also wouldn’t allow DD to contribute, which was unbecoming. Kinda shocked she want in the bottom two (perhaps because Mango would have dug her grave).
Overall: I am not sure why the show is trying to humble her via this edit but I believe she’ll be able to get it out of the mud.

I saw someone say that she might be expecting to receive the Sasha Colby experience, and when she wasn't getting it, she's kinda crashing out. She's getting the Alexis Michelle special instead, which is very entertaining in my book.
She should have been a leader to the disco group, but instead she brought the group down with her negative energy.

She’s a bit much lol I agree with Nini saying it’s always the Athena Dion show. The last two episodes she has had a crazy amount of screen time
She’s great television. She has the same level of delusion as Alexis Michelle, is confrontational like Derrick Barry, and has the charm of Alyssa Edwards. RuPaul knows what she’s good and didn’t place her in the bottom because she’ll deliver in that area.
