• The only reason to play them in order is to experience the history in order as time passes between each game.

But each game exists well enough on their own that they are playable without knowing "what happened" beforehand and if its important they usually info drop.

The controls before 3 are also bad. Not unplayable but there are significantly better QOL improvements the further you go in games

  • Some folks enjoy them. You might, too. But there's no need to play them all (or in order). Sometimes there are returning characters, but the plots are never built on "what happened in the prior game", it's just lore and back history.

  • Like everyone else said there’s no NEED to play them in order. They are their own stand alone games, but it’s definitely one of those games where if you play the newer ones first you’ll hate the older ones purely due to game mechanics.

RF 2 honestly was a blast story wise and was my introduction to the series. Then I did RF3 and was amazed with the QOL jump. I tried RF1 and couldn’t finish after being spoiled LIKE WDYM I CANT PICK UP MORE THAN 1 ITEM
