You could speak perfectly for the rest of your life saying just doar. Nu am decât 5 lei." But "Nu pot frate. Am doar 5 lei." Works as well. Just generally a native speaker might say the first.
You can also use "decât" without having to put in the negation. It just chances form into "dăcât". "Am dăcât 5 lei". /s
