Just patched Google Photos 7.56 and installed it, but the Sign-In page won’t open. Every time I tap it, the screen just flashes and nothing happens.

Do I need to install microG / GmsCore, even though I already have Play Services?

Complete noob here.

  • yes you do, the patched app needs microg / gmscore to be able to login your google acc

  • you have to install mirco g and sign in there first

  • because google photos (including youtube, yt music, and google news) are patched for non-rooted users like us using GmsCore support patch, you will need microG Services by ReVanced from here: https://github.com/ReVanced/GmsCore/releases

unless you root your device and go for the mounted installation, you will need to deal with this

even though I already have Play Services?

Google Play Services and microG Services may be identical apps in terms of functionality, but what makes them different is that microG is an open-source reimplementation of the closed-source Google Play Services

    Alright. Thanks for the explanation.

  • We have a mod for Google Photos as well?!

    Sssttt..!!

Is it like unlimited free cloud storage or something like that?

Every photos and videos that uploaded from the app, will not count against your account quota. So its basically unlimited.

Sorry, but isn't it enough to remove the backup to have unlimited space? When needed I save everything on an external SSD.

I have a question about the Google Photos app, since it uses Google's own storage even when patched? And is it safe to store your photos?

It tricks Google's servers into recognizing the upload as coming from a Pixel 1. Photos uploaded from a Pixel 1 do not count against your account's storage quota.

    Is it safe?

Well, this spoofing technique has been abused for years, yet documented bans specifically for the spoofing itself are rare.. account suspensions are far more often the result of serious content violations (for example, CSAM) than of device-identity spoofing.

That said, always prepare for the worst. I use this method only as a fourth- or fifth-layer redundancy: my primary backups are kept on multiple external drives, and I treat this Google Photos as a final fail-safe in case all physical copies are lost.

Interesting, but in this case, I was researching and one tip I saw would be to create another account and enable the option to share with third parties.

But, as you said, it would be good to store it in local storage and another in the cloud, right?

Yes, keep local copies on multiple devices and follow the 3-2-1 backup rule: three copies, on at least two different media, with one copy stored off-site.

You can treat this Unlimited Google Photos trick as the off-site copy, but DON'T rely on it as your primary backup, that would be treading on thin ice.

Always maintain local copies across multiple physical storage devices.

Woah, interesting, thanks for explaining, I am gonna do more research and maybe use it too. Google Photo revanced is crazyyy
