Hey everyone! While updating my resume in preparation for the job hunt, I couldn't help but think that my overall GPA is sort of underwhelming at 3.3. The thing is, my GPA from my last 3 semesters sits at a much more appealing 3.8, and I wanted to figure out the best way to highlight that growth without seeming like I'm being deceitful.
The best I've come up with at the moment is as shown below. Is there a better way of wording this?
Edit: Thanks for the advice, everyone! I've just decided to take my GPA off my resume completely. After applying to several places, I'm just waiting to hear back from them now!
Employers don't give a shit.
Remove all GPA mentions from your resume. Employers don't care. Why would you want to draw any attention to your 3.3 at all?
It doesn’t matter
what country do employers care to see GPA? that seems like an irrelevant factor after you graduate. you got a degree right? alright next question.
Thanks for asking! I'm based in the US and just graduated with a degree in biology this semester, so this would be my first real job aside from a part-time position I've held this year.
As sad as it is to say, my degree its one of my only selling points at the moment. I'll probably not need my GPA to carry much once I have about a year of full-time experience, but right now I have to sell myself as best I can.
I’m in a STEM field.
No one cares about your GPA. And in the rare cases they do, that’s not a good enough GPA where it might boost your chances, in fact, the opposite.
To an employer your GPA is hardly relevant.
so i’m from the US. i’m not in the biology field but to my understanding most employers do not care about GPA. don’t list it.
instead focus on padding out your resume on the real skills you learned through your course work. look at jobs you are trying to go for as an example for how your resume should flow. build targeted resume’s using key words from the job postings.
add a projects section.
volunteer in academic labs for more experience if you’re still lacking. look for contract lab positions.
get an OSHA lab certification if that’s on a lot of the job postings you’ve been looking at.
