We arent here to bash either specific religions or religion itself, because there are plenty of rational actors who happen to be religious. So if your post is "Christians are sTOoPid", or "Religion = dUmB", you're in the wrong sub and your post will probably be removed.

Specifically Matthew 22:21 I keep three different Bibles handy for double checking religious fruitcakeery. Two of them specifically use the word Emperor instead of Caesar to make it more clear that it's meant to be paying taxes to the government. The one that was my mother's has that particular verse highlighted like she was yelling at somebody. Which considering my mother was the sweetest lady on earth oh boy she must have been very pissed at somebody to highlight it like that. And I'm going to guess that it was somebody trying to make the argument that you shouldn't pay taxes when she was literally dying because that's when she was given this particular Bible.
Oh the Bible says to do both. When you see somebody who is poor you yourself are supposed to help them. Also you're supposed to pay your taxes so the government can help the people you can't see. But a lot of protestant and Evangelical groups in the United States believe that they should use charity to make converts. Even though the Bible specifically says you're supposed to help them first and then when they ask you then you can tell them about God when they ask why you're doing it. Kind of the make sure their basic needs are met before you try to bring them to God so they are of a good mindset to accept him. I was raised Christian and I was raised to believe that you were supposed to do both but I became an atheist when I saw people not doing it. And I fully believe in boundaries, consent, and choice which was what I was taught using this information you should respect the person who you're giving charity is boundaries ask for their consent before trying to help them and let them have the choice of how they continue with the information you give them. And that includes choosing a different path including atheism.
If there had been a way to give to people globally best believe Jesus would have done it. He was kinda just a chill monk-like dude who gave away all his belongings and preached radical compassion. VERY anti-capitalist.
Also he said rich people could not get into Heaven so they should be happy to be taxed.
Why stop at Healthcare? Why don't we also abolish paying for roads? If people want roads to get to their houses and businesses then they should fund it themselves. Then you will just have to pay the road owner an unregulated extortionate fee whenever you want to use it. People shouldn't be able to use roads they didn't pay for.
And why stop there? Get rid of schools. Schools should be paid for by rich people, who also get to decide what is taught. Then, only rich people who can afford good education can get good jobs. Everyone else can just be happy in uneducated, ignorant bliss.
And why stop there? Defund the police. People don't have the right to their health, so why do they have the right to protection or possible justice? If you are too frail or sickly to stop someone robbing you, then you deserve it.
Interesting. Finally some people say the quiet part out loud. They seemingly don't get mad about helping the poor. They get mad about not being able to decide who deserves their help. Almost like you want to use your charity as a way to feel superior to others, rather than to help others.
And if the government didn’t provide, do you think any of these people would donate?? No way! That’s what they say but you know their actions never match their words.
Churches have an awful track record when it comes to feeding the poor. The mega churches turn you away and the ones that do feed the poor usually only help you a couple of times a year. Don't forget those churches that turned away that woman on TikTok with the crying baby. They called her a witch and then quoted the Bible passage on what to do to witches.
There's a reason why we have programs like SNAP and WIC
Yeshua was actually kind of an asshole, almost every single one of his acts of kindness or miracles are done within the context of validating his own authority.
In one story he straight up calls a Canaanite woman a dog, and refuses to help her until she passes his bullshit test of faith.
Jesus gets whitewashed by non christians all the time when he was a massive narcissist. The Buddha taught everything positive Jesus does, but without the ego or dogma.

Jesus himself said "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and render unto God what is God's." Talking about taxes and tithes

Yup.
Also, govt doesn’t make us poor. Our economics do; “artificial scarcity” is literally the root of it.
My favorite example of this is the cheese caves in Missouri. The price of milk isn't real.
You're supposed to let the poor come into your fields so that they can harvest the crops in the corners.
From what I've seen of Abrahamic love, shooting them for sport must be in there somewhere.
Lo, God sayeth unto you, "Don't lead the women and children as much when firing upon them."
I think it's in 1 Samuel 15. God said kill everything. Saul didn't. God fired Saul.
And what's wrong with charity funded via tax? That's literally how society and civilization works.
It doesn't force people to grovel for scraps from a church.
Social welfare and public healthcare were established by Bismarck to break the church monopoly on social services.
And they'd like to undo that.
Especially because if you’re going to wait for the chucklefucks in the post to donate? You’d die quickly!
You risk that people you don't like benefits from the tax funded charity
Motherfuckers like this aren't civilized

When Christian conservatives benefit from taxes, it’s because they deserve it. When anyone else does, they’re “stealing” from Christian conservatives.

Dollar for dollar taxes provide more direct support to social benefit then churches or charity.
Umm, render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's?

Back to the 1500s with us all!

But surely, surely that can't be the case.

Tell me you have never read the Bible without telling me ....
Im guessing that's a Qanon thread

Wasn't there just a pastor outed for refusing to help someone?
These folks need some reading comprehension support...
I wonder what they think money laundering means.
