Oh boy what an intelligent looking fellow I sure hope his family he's at odds, and who has a dark past and CIA connections doesn't get rid of him or any of his cousins, to then replace his legacy with an ancestry of degenerate scumbags.
This wouldn’t even be the worst thing they’ve done to public schools. Abbot is trying to get TPUSA chapters in all public schools. Abbot is also running on eliminating school property taxes for homeowners, which would make public schools basically have no funding.
I really do need to get the fuck out of this state.
The fucked thing is that property tax is making home ownership impossibly hard and schools need diverse sources of funding. That said, eliminating it would only bring about a new tax forced on homeowners to pay for private religious schools anyway and would end up being more and worse for way worse educations and a lot more molestation.
Is this to make education only for the rich through private schools or to keep public education as shitty as possible and to keep kids as dumb as possible. I see no advantage to defunding public schools. I do see an advantage of defunding Abbott though.
It seems like all of your reasons are right. I bet politicians have a lot of distinct reasons. As for the voters who keep voting this, I bet they want Texas to become a christian theocracy and a fortress for their perverted ideals. I used to try to argue and find ways to change people’s minds, but I’m too tired now. I’m just going to move to a state where I won’t have to put up with this anymore.
They will be told that things like depression are just not praying hard enough and that the Bible says that trying to get away from abusive parents is not honoring your father and mother..
I was abused by my brother with knives. My therapist said I was allowed to be angry about it. My father said I am not being spiritual enough and to use holy water instead.
He doesn’t seem to know very much about his own bill. It’s as if he’s a just a puppet for some special interest group. Or, in other words, a typical politician.
Politicians and religious leaders work hand in hand. The “separate church from state” saying was always just an Idea to these people. Religion is Control, and with their hand picked chaplains they get exactly that in a classroom full of children who are living sponges. How better to integrate the kids of their own people into their own bullshit than to implant the ideas in a school setting.
According to the legislation they are not supposed to proselytise however the government has made a habit of looking the other way. The majority of these "practitioners" were originally without any appropriate qualifications, the situation now is that they have to be affiliated with a recognised religion, secular practitioners were explicitly banned in 2014 (note that this applies to schools which are notionally secular). The situation was challenged in the courts in 2014 so the federal government backdoored the arrangement by passing the management of it on to state governments. On paper the ban on secular practitioners was removed in 2023, but in practice the situation on the ground is unchanged.
The entire arrangement is disgraceful but unsurprising given the increase in public religiosity in Australia over the past couple of decades.

Is that Trump Kennedy? Of the Trump Kennedy Centre fame?

TPUSA is literally a terrorist organization.
Just 2 days ago, a speaker at their conference said this about antifa and trans people:
Republicans call all liberals "radical leftists" and accuse them of being antifa members without evidence.
No state is safe, but you might want to get the hell out of Texas.
Religion is the worst thing that has happened ever.
This is not a Christian nation, it’s a nation in which you are free to be Christian.
The moderator was flabbergasted at the end lol
I really hope this guy runs for President
Oh boy, I'm sure all the untrained chaplains given authority over children will be totally normal and not insane, predatory Father Picard-types!
You know they’re doing it to get access to children for nefarious reasons.
They will be told that things like depression are just not praying hard enough and that the Bible says that trying to get away from abusive parents is not honoring your father and mother..
“Please lord, make me seem less sexy to my guidance counselor…”
Also important to note Talarico is studying in seminary- he’s looking to receive a pastoral degree and in the meantime calling out this b.s.
Integrity in action.
My experience in Texas is the response to these criticisms is “Yes but Jesus.”
Surprised the guy actually answered the questions without shouting down Talarico
MAGA get cornered and you see they don’t have common sense answers
"Government Define Chaplain"
So lets go with the Military's definition, and as such Muslims can be Chaplain and a child could meet the Muslim chaplain without prenatal consent.
James Talarico is pretty dammed entertaining to watch

I love this guy. I need him as a wing man
He doesn’t seem to know very much about his own bill. It’s as if he’s a just a puppet for some special interest group. Or, in other words, a typical politician.
Not only that, but he’s been allowing nefarious people to provide input to create the shitty bill he knows nothing about.
I hope this guy runs for president.

Huh, just like in south park
Heck, I'm an ordained minister, and all I had to do was pay $16 to the Universal Life Church.
I don't recall
U of OK has entered the chat.
Unfortunately, this went through (I thought) during Covid. Either this is old or the measure was temporary and they’re trying to make it permanent.
Welcome to the current situation in Australia...

Wait until the smart ass kids start coming up with 'problems' that are highly embarassing.
Texas is wild sometimes
