Don’t give that shit stain John Henry and FSG a god damn dime. Don't buy tickets, don't buy all the fucking merch, don't watch NESN. FUCK YOU John Henry.
Not a Bregman fan however definitely need a bat in the line up. Now it seems they traded Devers for nothing. Mediocre third basemen yes however he was the Sox only power hitter
Bregman came in the door and got to spring training and the FO, along with the fans, started dogging Devers. He knew right then, he wasn’t taking any options in his contract. And then as it developed further and the Boston media was like “well, thank god we have Bregman, he’s so much better anyway” followed by the dumb trade.
I mean he watched them trade their best piece away, their franchise piece, when he was under the impression and sold on the idea that together they would be a part of chasing a championship. He nope’d right the f outta there.
I’m glad to see Devers put it together out there. He struggled a bit but finished super strong.
How soon people are to forget that they already had Bregman under contract with an egregious $40m/AAV following a season in which he missed nearly 2 months and hit 18 HR.
Yeah, people keep glazing him but he definitely had a mediocre season. He definitely has the ability to be really good but im not spending 30+ million a year on what ifs
Finally some sanity on this sub. I get that we got rid of Devers for one (partial) season of Breg. And that is frustrating. But at this time last year, everyone was up in arms about the conversation because of his trash can band. In 4 months when the season begins and we are playing well, no one will care anymore. And Breg will miss 25 games in starting in June so it won’t matter either.
The funny thing about Red Sox fans being upset about the trash can band is that The Red Sox were name as perpetrators of this as well, and in fact, Alex Cora was suspended for it and considered one of the pioneers behind the specific approach)Joe the relayed signs). Interesting how they won it in 2018 and Steve Pearce, of all people, won the MVP bc they just couldn’t get him out… hmmm.
Honestly I get sign stealing is a thing but to do that at that level of the game in those moments… they are worse than the Astros.
And look I get it, every team had players who were doing it. Once word got around that it was acceptable it was only a matter of time before people like Alex Cora and Steve Pearce would pull it off on the biggest stage of the game.
IMO this should have been talked about more. It wasn’t and why? Would have been awful for the game.
I don't understand the love for Bregman. He's a free agent opportunist who doesn't give two shits about Boston, and he just got paid 40 mil for a season that wasn't worth half that.
You guys are losers. We’re a top 3 cost to go to a game and act like ownership shouldn’t spend like it. EVERY fa contract of the last few years has seemed high… until the cost of similar players gets incredibly higher every single year.
You're telling me that I should boycott the thing that brings me so much joy in this world, one that is increasingly harder to live in? There is not much more that I enjoy than baseball and the Red Sox. If I don't buy tickets or merch or a television subscription it's because life in this world is too expensive, not because I'm going to boycott a billionaire. Life is far too short to be unhappy. Sure, I wish the Red Sox would pay for the best players and make it feel like they're trying to win another world series, but I'm not going to deprive myself from enjoyment because another man has more money than me and he's not spending it the way I want him to. You do you, but I'm watching my favorite baseball team this year. I'm probably going to a game and I might even buy a hat or something because I want to enjoy life.
The only person I stopped watching for awhile over was Mookie and even then I was just honestly busy in line so 🤷 I'm a Sox fan, not an individual player fan. I love a few more than others and I hope management doesn't toss Cedanne but trading a player is honestly so low in my list of priorities to care about in this world, not worth the emotional energy.
OK, since a mid Red Sox is what you enjoy, continue paying. But that's the product you will keep getting. You vote with your dollar, and paying means you are telling ownership that they are doing a fantastic job and may continue their trajectory.
Edit : Downvotes but no rebuttal just means you can't disagree intellectually so you just pout.
Everytime somebody says we have a mediocre product...we seem to constantly over-perform.
I'm looking forward for the young homegrown talent to show up and turn into perennial contenders and not just hoping a couple FA bats make for a one year wonder.
What's childish about protesting? Just keep falling for the lies and drinking the kool-aid. I guess you are a real fan because you like mediocrity. Good for you pal.
Or maybe some of just watch baseball for enjoyment. We don’t invest our whole lives into it to the point we are going to make rage posts about someone who couldn’t care less and will never see them. Fenway will sell out because it’s a tourist destination. People will always buy merch. People will watch NESN because it pretty much the only way to watch games. It’s baseball bud, not life or death.
What happened to these fans? I’ve been a fan of the Sox since the early 80s and my goal the whole time has been to enjoy watching baseball. It’s not my worry how much they spend on who, I could give a 0 fs about that. I don’t consume myself with a sport so much that I need to rant online to strangers about it. Maybe that first part about fans could be directed at you…
We have an awesome young core out there and a good starting rotation. You all freak out every time someone isn’t signed. I don’t concern myself with the business side because it doesn’t interest me. I root for whoever is on the field. It’s THAT simple. Do I like it when someone comes, yep. It’s not much more than that. I’m not going to keep going back and forth because you don’t like how I enjoy baseball.
When did I say I don’t like how you enjoy baseball? I just find it curious that you can detach that side of it and not be curious about it. The way you worded it before didn’t seem too far off from someone enjoying shiny objects with no concern with how they got there or how they got shiny.
Am I upset about it? Yep. We're a big market franchise that can eat these types of contracts when we have so much of the lineup on rookie deals. Our 13 position players should be guys that would start on smaller market clubs.
Are they really wrong to not eat the contract? Eh. I'm not eating it in OOTP, I'll say that.
Cope all you want. It’s not your money and Fenway will always be filled so this is a slap in the face. Arguably the 5-6th slap in the face lmao. You think you’re so smart because you can read contract value sheets while the team sinks time and time again BECAUSE WE REFUSE TO SPEND ANY MONEY
Typing in all caps is a meltdown I guess. I don’t pay for sox games usually, but when you’re charging me $15 a beer yeah I’m going to complain when you let 5-6 star players walk in a row and refuse to spend money because you never want a negative asset. This is a baseball team, not John Henry’s stock portfolio
I watched maybe 15 games last season, listened to 15 more, and listened/watched the playoff games. Once they train you out of caring it gets much easier to drift away.
It’s a shame because this young core is exciting. There’s just little to support them outside of Crochet, Gray and I guess Story? Anyone buying he’s going to have another mostly healthy summer?
Im not sure how delusional fans want things to change when they themselves aren't willing to change.
If you as a customer keep paying for poor quality food at the restaurant, the restaurant has 0 incentives to change (hire new cooks, spend more of fresh premium ingredients, etc).
So if fans are just going to spend money on merch or tickets, then that's just a vote for FSG to keep doing what they are doing. Ie, enjoy a mid Sox every year.
Please boycott. Nobody will miss your constant bitching and complaining. We will be too busy enjoying Anthony, Mayer, Abreu, Rafaela, Duran, Crochet, Campbell (I hope), Story, Contreras, Tolles, Early, Gray, Chapman, Narvaez, etc etc etc
Don’t watch them play the Yankees. Don’t watch them in the playoffs. Just keep bitching and moaning. You will not be noticed in your absence.
The 1st 4 game win streak in May will make us all forget about Bregman. That is what the team now banks on. Because we will keep coming back. As much as everyone says they are done with the Management, the 1st Anthony walk-off will get us in a frenzy, just like it did last year and everyone forgot about the ridiculous Devers trade. Every year they will give us a little less but we will keep eating it up and when we sweep a double header, the slop will taste like Prime Rib. But it get's to taste a bit more like slop year after year.
So, let me get this straight. You don't like the way management handles the roster. You think it's "slop" that we just keep eating up. Okay.
But when the team performs well, when Anthony hits a walkoff, or when we sweep a series, that's... somehow proof that the team is bad? That they've been mishandled by ownership?
You don't like ownership, and when the team does well, that's a cover-up for how bad ownership is?
Help me understand that. Because I don't give a shit who they sign or don't sign as long as we're winning.
No, it’ll make half the fanbase forget. Not the ones that are rightfully bullshit because Henry fucked us again. Betts too, don’t forget what he’s taken from us for being a cheapskate
Only in American sports do fans just roll over and let owners do whatever they want. International soccer fans would make noise consistently shitting on ineptitude, but for some reason in the states there’s this “hey be grateful, consume product” mentality.
So both fans and ownership realised this and not willing to change, then we just have to embrace the suck and keep paying money for a mediocre product but with history.
I am been saying the same thing for years now. Don’t buy tickets or merchandise but people still go. Maybe FSG would do something if Fenway was filled with the opponents fans instead of Sox fans, but I don’t know if that would matter as long as they sell the tickets.💰
Not buying merch or tickets again this year until this changes. The priority right now is on saving ownership money and avoiding paying taxes, look at all the teams above us on this list. It's pathetic.
Boycotts do nothing but allow other fans to purchase more tickets to Fenway. I guarantee you John Henry does not care where he’s getting his revenue from
What really bothers me is the Sox bragged the money saved by dumping Devers and his crazy contract was that it would enable them to pursue free agents with their spending. Contreras is not what I had in mind
Breslow added an ace last year. he’s added a number two and number three starter this year and he’s got great young pitching talent that is ready to help in the next year. We have never ever ever had pitching depth like this. There are talented kids at virtually every position.Put Rafaela at second. Mayer at third and sign the guy from Seattle for two year to DH for clutch pop. Campbell and Romy can be the utility guy. Your outfield is excellent. Your infield defense is good You have a good starting catcher, good starting pitching. Good closer and plenty of kids for bullpen depth. You guys act like this is a crisis. We made the playoff last year, and this team is young and is on the rise. What the hell is wrong with you guys?
Your boycott will have zero impact. Fenway will always be full and enough people will buy merchandise to fill their coffers. I understand the frustration but boycotts won’t make any difference.
Yeah that boy pulled about $40-50 million more than he should have for a contract of that length and at his caliber IMO. Good for him. Definitely his last long term contract he’ll receive in his career and it’s nice to see somebody fleece rather than get fleeced.
So my thing is this, to alll the people criticizing this post, it was a childish and shitty way to present OPs case. But in my opinion, this isn’t about “losing BREGMAN.” I wasn’t a big Bregman fan, and I think the Cubs overpaid for his services. But I’m petty bothered by the routine losing this front office seems okay with. And I don’t mean games. The Sox overperformed last season and helped mask some of these egregious miscalculations of value. This front office is cheap… WITH THE SOX. They’ll go out and spend half a billion on Liverpool, capital raise from the penguins, but still somehow be the only team in all of baseball to not sign a free agent yet. This is the stuff I find completely inexcusable. It’s about the message it sends. Why we still have 4 outfielders and zero 3rd baseman is beyond me. We acquired the worst pitcher in all of baseball for Devers. I agreed we should’ve traded Devers. But the ROI is sickening. Again, Bregman doesn’t super duper excite me. I’m not sick about losing Bregman. I’m sick about the fact that we don’t have the willingness to spend. If SS was our most critical need, we still wouldn’t legitimately attempt bichette. The offer to Alonso was an offer you make alonso in 2010 money, maybe, but definitely not 2025. The front office is feeble, afraid, and needs to get absolutely fucked. I havent fallen for any of their shit for years now. When we win, it’s in spite of their shortcomings, not because they really want to. I hope to god this team doesnt win 80 games this year. Last year fucked us. They fell for the idea that this is a “competitive” team. Bull fuckin shit its competitive. Good enough to make the postseason isnt good enough. I DONT want to become the MLB Pittsburgh Steelers.
The problem is the unwillingness to spend what they need to get what they need, sometimes you do have to overpay, you will never win if you think you can build a team with only good value contracts
what did he do that you didn’t like? let’s be clear on what we’re screaming about today because what ever people are screaming about changes so quickly I lose track without a scorecard.
I have generally learned I just skip baseball season most years. My GF says I'm not fun to be around when the team is bad and losing like crazy so now I just find better things to do with my time, go on a walk, watch a movie, play a game. All are better uses of my time than forcing myself to watch a middling roster slog through the season.
Ill never root against the Red Sox or root for another team and I'll always wish them well but generally I'd rather do things I enjoy than watch them suck ass. Invest that time and energy in a hobby instead.
I very casually watched last season only because I mistakenly believed maybe the ownership had turned a corner on taking winning seriously.
The roster as it stands right now is much worse than last season and it's a massive step back in terms of taking winning seriously.
FSG are treating the Sox like a business trying to maximize profit and so I've decided to treat my fandom like I would my loyalty to a business if I don't like the way the business is being ran they lose my business and I'll spend my money elsewhere.
It’s insane behavior, legitimate toddler level IQ stuff. After going thru this with Bloom, not sure when it’ll dawn on these fucking morons that the GM doesn’t get to choose how much of their boss’s money they spend
Being upset with the GM because he analyzes the game is an odd take. His job isn’t to crush beers and have a great time at the ballpark. What do you want him to do if it’s not analyze the game?
General management activities? Building relationships?
Dealing with other humans on staff?
His job responsibilities go far beyond the data in an excel spreadsheet.
There have been constant reports of the guy being a stiff. This Bregman deal should have been resolved before the season was even over. He's in your camp. You have a year to negotiate and use those relationships to your advantage.
Instead we hyper-analyze the $/WAR like each contract must be a home run or its a failure.

Been looking for a replacement for the Chaim Bloom clown photo for a long time and you've provided. Well done!

Edit: clarity
What a stupid mess. Something is very flawed in the organization right now. Cora must be stewing.
Suarez hit 45 dingers and can play third
And yet, he actually hit 49.
45+. Well take the 4 extra
We're the clowns...we keep giving this man money despite the constant gaslighting and mediocrity
Were you like a diehard Bregman fan or something? Lol its gonna be okay
And had the worst fielding of all third baseman in 2025. He’s had one gold glove in ten years.
Yeah, it’s nothing we haven’t seen before…
Finally some sanity on this sub. I get that we got rid of Devers for one (partial) season of Breg. And that is frustrating. Seriously. Not spending to make sure we have a great squad is really frustrating, but the Chaim Kids are top notch.

Another Henry boot licker. If you don’t understand it’s not just about missing out on Bregman it’s everything else around it.
Naw man you got it all wrong. Being a fan of a team is actually about hating that team and boycotting them. That’s what real fans do. /s
Buy yeah I totally agree with your comment. Not likely to “boycott” the Soxs might boycott this sub though.
Being a fan isn’t about gobbling up everything they serve you.
LOL sucker.
Be mad 🤬
About what, dummies slobbering a billionaire who is unwilling to pay for players in a pay to win sport? That's laughable, not maddening.
You do realise "over-perform" means that they do better than expected, and is not the expected value yeah?
Also, key FA signings in championship years, and payroll
2018 - JD Martinez; Ranked 1st in payroll 2013 - Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino ; Ranked 4th in payroll 2007 - JD Drew; Ranked 2nd in payroll 2004 - Mostly via trade; Ranked 2nd in payroll
2026 -??? ; currently 11th in expected opening day payroll
Acting like Napoli and Victorino were big FAs is wild lol. They both were nothing throwaway contracts.
Most of these teams were built on the homegrown talent and giving them big dollars. As you just notated lmao.
And how about the inverse? What about the years the Red Sox signed big contracts for big FAs that didnt work out? Or even the mid level FAs
Like...Gonzo and Crawford? Ramirez? Hill? Punto? Pierzynski? Sandoval?
Hell Price sucked outside of 2 playoff games in his third year.
The second young homegrown talent shows up, we'll sell them for a couple AAA catchers.
Well, what the fuck else are you going to boycott? Something you already don't enjoy doing?
What a childish post. Grow up.
What's childish about protesting? Just keep falling for the lies and drinking the kool-aid. I guess you are a real fan because you like mediocrity. Good for you pal.
I enjoy watching baseball. Why would I deprive myself of that to prove some kind of point that will accomplish nothing?
Or maybe some of just watch baseball for enjoyment. We don’t invest our whole lives into it to the point we are going to make rage posts about someone who couldn’t care less and will never see them. What happened to these fans, hey as long as the guys out there have fun right?? Thought the goal was to win world series championships.
What happened to these fans? I’ve been a fan of the Sox since the early 80s and my goal the whole time has been to enjoy watching baseball. You can enjoy watching baseball but give zero fucks about how the team is built? How does that work?
I turn on baseball, I watch them play and turn it off…pretty simple actually…
Watch who play? Or is it strictly about man throwing ball / man hitting ball and not learning the players names?
Does sound rather simple.
We have an awesome young core out there and a good starting rotation. You all freak out every time someone isn’t signed. I don’t concern myself with the business side because it doesn’t interest me. I root for whoever is on the field. It’s THAT simple. Do I like it when someone comes, yep. It’s not much more than that. edited I didn’t like my last sentence.

It is hilariously childish.
Boycott what? For refusing to overpay a 31/32 year old player?

we see a variant of this post (or 50) literally every offseason now, nobody's actually going to do shit so i guess we just let them vent
Let’s start our own! With blackjack… and hookers
I agree, some fans dont see the vision or why stuff dont go in our favor every time
Or the fact that Bregman was hurt half the season and it would’ve been a stretch to give him a 3 year deal.
I actually really like bregman but 175mill is a little too much for him. Just hoping theres better things to come. Also yeah it sucked he got hurt
Sorry if I haven’t enjoyed watching the Red Sox act like a poverty franchise the last 7 years.
Oh I hate how they are acting too but im not posting it like everyone else in this sub. The Red Sox have been acting broke for awhile now
The vision being putting out a mediocre product year after year.
We've gotten better though, last year our rookies shined

I’m absolutely thrilled that Chaim can continue building on his success building out the talent on this roster
And Bellinger wants 37M/yr for 7 years. Some of this stuff is absolutely insane.
Maybe it's for not signing ANYONE AT ALL.
I dunno. That could be it, maybe.
Am I upset about it? Yep. We're a big market franchise that can eat these types of contracts when we have so much of the lineup on rookie deals. Our 13 position players should be guys that would start on smaller market clubs.

unsure how to explain to you that having an online meltdown over your favorite sportsball team's free agency activity is actually the cope

I’ll stream it illegally
I won’t watch.

They design this team to win 81 games with the outside chance they win 90 and get a wildcard

Pretty much, Liverpool spent over $400 million players
All this over Bregman? Who cares? He’s not that good
Imagine boycotting a team because you didn't get a free agent... Weirdo
Unfortunately, tourism to Fenway alone negates the idea of a boycott.
Still a good idea not to give the corporation money if you can avoid it, but it’s not gunna move the needle.
So both fans and ownership realised this and not willing to change, then we just have to embrace the suck and keep paying money for a mediocre product but with history.

Trolling and attacking other users is not prohibited. Your post has been removed.
I already live outside of the NESN area. I'll get my games for free with MLB.tv on TMobile. Not going to give them any money regardless.
I’m mad but let’s see what the opening day roster looks like.
I will for sure be watching. And so will you.
Get over it.
I am been saying the same thing for years now. Don’t buy tickets or merchandise but people still go. Maybe FSG would do something if Fenway was filled with the opponents fans instead of Sox fans, but I don’t know if that would matter as long as they sell the tickets.💰
I agree that 5 yrs was too long, but who really knows what was one the table. Can we believe anything anymore?
You're 6 years late, should have happened the second Mookie was traded. If that didn't turn you off, nothing will
NESN PLUS MAX BABY!
Not buying merch or tickets again this year until this changes. The priority right now is on saving ownership money and avoiding paying taxes, look at all the teams above us on this list. It's pathetic.

Already have been since last year
Absolutely!! I support this 150%
I wasn’t that high on Bregman and I lost a bunch of weight and need new clothes, so I’m still buying merch lol
Boycotts do nothing but allow other fans to purchase more tickets to Fenway. I guarantee you John Henry does not care where he’s getting his revenue from
Trade for Nolan and sign Suarez trade yoshida
Nobody is making anyone be a Red Sox fan. You’re free to leave.
I really would love if you guys followed through on this and I didn’t have to read the trail of tears everyday for the whole season.
Bregman played for one year, its like the Yankees fans who cry about Juan Soto still. What they shouldn't have done was trade Devers
Your boycott will have zero impact. Fenway will always be full and enough people will buy merchandise to fill their coffers. I understand the frustration but boycotts won’t make any difference.
I DEMAND THAT OWNERSHIP IS RETURNED TO THE YAWKEY TRUST! EVERYTHING WAS SO MUCH BETTER BEFORE THIS OWNERSHIP GROUP!
Bregman is our number 1 priority my ass
I'm just starting to accept that we are funding the Fenway Corners project - not team building.
Also, I know that FSG diverts funds to other ventures - but if I think too long on that, I just stay pissed off.
I haven't been it's you fools who keeps funding them
Bregman was not worth that cash. People need to stop crying. Sox will still win 86-88 games next year, IMO.
Yeah that boy pulled about $40-50 million more than he should have for a contract of that length and at his caliber IMO. Good for him. Definitely his last long term contract he’ll receive in his career and it’s nice to see somebody fleece rather than get fleeced.
I'm serious and not trying to be sassy, get MLB tv and root for dodgers. You will be happier and your life will improve.
I've been doing this since the Mookie trade. Join me my friends
This, again?
Glad we didn't over pay for Bregman! And glad Devers is gone. Now... they need to spend some money wisely.
I’ll always love the red Sox. Life’s short.
what did he do that you didn’t like? let’s be clear on what we’re screaming about today because what ever people are screaming about changes so quickly I lose track without a scorecard.
Hear me out, john henry wasted money on florian writz (Liverpool) and realized Im done wasting money on players anymore
I’ve been doing it for a couple years. My kids want to go but they know why we don’t
No thanks.
I'm excited to go to my first fenway game this spring. And seeing them 2 other times this year.
Hopefully the team is crushing it with the young guys.
Never. I will never BOYCOTT!!! SORRY NOT SORRY. LGSox. Business is god damn business. LGSox.
I’ll watch on tv, but yeah Sox consistently have one of the highest revenues and spend so little for it. Henry needs to sell
it's like i want to do that, but I can't, I'm too weak.
Same lol I need to buy a jersey every month…. I can’t control it!!!

John Henry is a domestic terrorist. Hopefully is reign of terror comes to an end soon and we can be good again.
But they were good last season?
I very casually watched last season only because I mistakenly believed maybe the ownership had turned a corner on taking winning seriously.
The roster as it stands right now is much worse than last season and it's a massive step back in terms of taking winning seriously.
FSG are treating the Sox like a business trying to maximize profit and so I've decided to treat my fandom like I would my loyalty to a business if I don't like the way the business is being ran they lose my business and I'll spend my money elsewhere.
Need to throw blame at our nerd GM.
The guy can't enjoy a ball game without having his laptop open. He overanalyzes everything
Blaming Breslow is what he was hired by Henry for you to do.
