• This organization’s grand master plan is just praying all their prospects pan out which is what small market teams do and also, surprise, almost never works.

This is what makes no sense because they're one of the richest franchises in all of sports let alone baseball they should never be in a position where they have to rely on nothing but young prospects

    It’s pure, unadulterated greed.

Yea how’d that work out for Baltimore last season

Dude but at the same time, it’s Roman Anthony. He’s already a freak. Every single metric for him has been him proving that he’s a monster.

  • Doesn’t really help because we’re still down an infield spot. Bichette won’t bring anything of substance defensively if we even sign him

Never fear Mikey Romero is here (I'm dead inside)

  • Not just him. Everyone. And you have to hope Abreu goes back to smashing the ball (and staying healthy). Otherwise Anthony is going to regress. He’ll be easy to pitch against if there isn’t anyone else to be scared of.

Quick question why do you think Roman is gonna regress? There’s no evidence of any of that IMO.

    Reread what I wrote.

Does any of that affect his bat speed or exit velocity or ability to make contact?

Is that especially helpful with fewer runners on base?

  • They still need someone to play 2B or 3B even if he does

They're going to hype up David Hamilton as a legitimate starting 2B and some people here will still take the bait.

  • Yeah, his atrocious D would help....

Yep. That was the only part of his game. Not noted for anything else that would look especially helpful to this roster right now.

  • PLEASE PLEASE hit the ball

  • Not for a second should we consider the starting 3B job his.

  • It’s pretty sad that him switching to #11 is the thing I’ve been most excited about this offseason.

The trades for Gray and Contreras were fine but they could have, and should have, done better for a #2 starter and “big bat.”

Disagree. Gray has the same damn war and is a good pitcher, compared to the dumbass contracts King and Cease got. Contreras is a +6 OAA, which will help us, and he hits about the same as Bregs.

King was hurt and Cease was bad. Having the same WAR as them is not exactly a flex.

Agreed same old lies just a different year. The WORST ran franchise in baseball and it's not even close. Given the fan loyalty, what the fans pour into the team, and they don't do anything to actually win anymore with unlimited recourses at their disposal just too cheap to use any of it. I wonder if Henry, Kennedy, and Breslow sit around and laugh at us fans behind closed doors. Until FSG and Henry sell this team this is how life is. I expected this because ie learned after seven stright years you can't trust a damn word they say. They are an exponentially worse team now having lost Bregman than last year.

Breslow said out his own mouth we are definitely going after a legit #2 starter to start playoff games behind Crochet. Sorry, Sonny Gray isn't it. Sonny Gray is a replacement for Giolito. I can't imigine any Red Sox fan trusting him to be the #2 starting in a playoff series. He said we had to add a power bat. A middle of the order bat to hit more home runs because that's how you win playoff games. Well Breslow actually I guess you did a great job after all because you knew all along this team would be bottom feeders in the AL East again not a playoff team so why add either of the two. Pieces you said we definitely had to have. How does he still hae a job is what I want to know. I guess bc he toes that line like good old John Henry likes much like Chiam Bloom did. So what's next another trade with the Cardinals for their mid 30 year old third basemen? Please by all maeans don't try and sign Bo Bichette why waste that money. Now you get to stay under the second luxery tax threshold which what every fan cares about above all else.

The fact that their the Boston Red Sox and are the only team not to spend a penny on free agency is a joke and an embarrassment. It's a joke and a slap in the face to every real Red Sox fan out there. If you say otherwise I'm. Sorry your not a real Red Sox fan not to me anyway unless you Loe watching mediocrity. They got all the money in the world but won't spend it. Their cheap now have been since 2019 and worse liars. They actually had a middle of the order bat but they disrespected, didn't communicate at all, and alienated their franchise player. Then made him out to be a clubhouse cancer after eight years of never anyone having a negative word to say about him. His defense was so bad he was the third basement for arguably the greatest Red Sox team in history. He won multiple sliver slugger awards, help us win a world series, and was a legit all star. Breslow disrespect and lack. Of communication led to him not playing first when asked. He told him to throw his glove away he would ever play in the field again after they signed another guy to take his postion w/o communicating their intentions to do so. That's the only reason he didn't play first and because he had never played the postion before. I think it was all calculated what they did except they didn't expect Casas to get hurt obviously. They then wanted to to make him out to be the bad guy when front office can't call anyone on the team bad for the team when all they do is lie. Their the real team problem. They trusted him the way they did so they could dumb his salary they never wanted to pay in he first place. They wanted the fans to not lose their minds losing another star if not superstar for nothing. What have they done with all the money their saving on having dumped his contract? They now hae no second baemen or third basement I hope it was worth for one lousy playoff team that everyone knew couldn't win a series. I now believe this is the worse run organization in baseball by far given their recourses. Maybe now finally some fan will see they don't car about the fans or winning. Maybe now some fans will boycott some games as I've said needs to happen especially a nationally televised game to show ownership we're fed up. Nothing that's what besides signing their young talented prospects to team-friendly contracts long term to save money later, or settling with arbitration-eligible players before going to arbitration is what they should have done. That's their job so no they don't get a pat on the back for doing their job. All the trades they have made has it helped make this team a title contender how and if so please tell me who did they add that makes that a reality? Every team in the division has upgraded except the Red Sox. They even a lot worse now having lost Bregman because the offer he accepted from the Cubs the Red Sox should have offered as soon as the season ended. He's was worth it not just because of his on field play. He proved that last year. His clubhouse presence and helping the young players see what it takes to win and acting as another coach made him worth it. I don't care if he wanted 7 years. The no players over 30 shouldn't get more than a three year deal is nonsense as well. Great job Red Sox only God can actually make sense of whatever plan they have if their actually is one beises save money no matter what

Hello bottom of the AL East we missed you last season but we're back. Cora was foolish for signing an extention with what they do to his roster and what they give him to work with. They can't sniff winnning the division even had they got Bregman back but they damn sure can't now. Baltimore will be back as well so we get to watch Alonso himself best us at least a couple of games if not more especially after the low ball disrespectful offer the Red Sox gave him. No free agent trust this organization anymore. Why should they? They also definitely can't win a playoff series either. That playoff season of 2025 was great now let's not go back for three more years. Breslow and the entire front office are clowns and should not have jobs.

Why some fans care about contracts or money I'll never understand because it's not their money. MLB has no salary cap and the Red Sox have all the money they could ever need. GOOD THING MLB IS GOING TO TRY TO GET A SALARY FLOOR SO THE RED SOX DON'T GO. UNDER IT. They can print their own money if they want because of us Red Sox fans and our love for our team. So much so most will still support the team and ownership knows it. Losing draft picks or spots doesn't matter if they spent money like they did when they card about winning in the early 2000s. They went and got what was needed to feel holes with top free agents. That's why they won finally. Prospects don't matter except for trade chips again if they will spend money. Let a prospect develop in in team like the Rays orgization then once they can't pay them then they go sign them or trade for them. For every Roman Anthony there's a Rousney Castillo, Blake Swihart, Micheal Chavis, Bobby Delbec, and countless others. No prospect has ever helped a single team win a World Series. If they have they are no longer a prospect so no I don't care about loading up. On prospects either. I care about MLB proven players only. I guess their going to expect a guy who's never played a full season in majors to now carry the team in the Middle of the order. Thats a lot of pressure on Roman Anthony's shoulders. Then again no 0ressure no 9ne will expect the team to win 70 games in 226 so just go play and learn every day to work on your weaknesses. Wins sure don't matter now. What a total waste of young talent!

  • His two major injuries were the same wrist injury: the first time he chose to come back and play through it and rehab during the offseason; this past season, it flared up again so he shut down and had it repaired surgically.

The narrative that he is constantly injury plagued is highly flawed and misleading, and the chances of that particular injury reoccurring now that he’s had surgery are minimal.

    Yeah. I don't get it.

People are freaking out about a young, ascending player with one specific injury because we didn't re-sign an older player who missed significant time this season with a recurring hamstring injury. It makes no sense.

One specific injury? What about his back issues that was part of him missing chunks of time in two different seasons? What about his shoulder issue that took a bunch of time in 2023? He’s missed as many games as he’s played in over the last 4 years…that is severely alarming.

It’s not highly flawed. He joined the league in 2021. In 2022-2025 he missed significant time every single season.

Wrist and Back issues in 2022, left shoulder issue in 2023, lumbar strain in 2024, and wrist in 2025. Dude is always going to be a health concern. He’s one of those types of players. If he’s getting injured this frequently as a young adult, it will only get worse as he ages.

  • Rafaela will be the starting second basemen

Honestly, it’s a better option than Hamilton or Gonzalez. At least we have better bats in the outfield than either of those two. Anthony, Duran, and Abreu with Rafaela is better than Gonzalez, Anthony, Duran, and Rafaela. Rafaela is still a very high level defender at 2nd and Abreu vs Gonzalez bat wise isn’t even in the same conversation.

My big concern is with the Red Sox having no real options on the bench, Cora will have to dramatically change is approach in how he manages the squad.

  • Red Sox are cooked if relying solely on this man

  • I was thinking the same exact thing! Haha please stay healthy

  • And hit left handers. Not being negative, just hasn't shown ability to do so , so far

  • That’s a very tall ask. Dude has been injury prone his entire short career. Since he entered professional baseball in 2021, he’s never played 100 games in a season, 91 is the most. It’s far more likely he misses a chunk of games than he doesn’t.

  • Eugino Suárez. Perfect stop gap guy for this team

I feel like I’m the only guy that really wants him. He is a 3B, righty power bat that we desperately need. His defense is meh, but if he can hit 45 homers, I’d much rather have that than praying Mayer can make a massive leap forward. One that he’s never really taken before.

I watched Suarez alot last year and he's VERY frustrating to watch at times. ESPECIALLY with the Mariners. It seemed like he hit all of his HRs when the AB didn't matter then he struck out when they did.
