A prediction based on information he was told by someone who is also in the organization he works for.
It’s not a report and he’s not a reporter, but let’s not play fucking stupid or act surprised that people got upset.
As I said then, I hope he learned his lesson and to never trust that source again. Or to at least never tweet out “feelings” he has based from that source.
In a weird way I sort of agree with you. I mean how many times can Lucy yank away the football from Charlie Brown without Charlie Brown getting up and punching her in the face?
If you or I posted something like this on twitter nobody even notices because we don’t have the following and reputation of sharing Red Sox news. He did and made it seem like some source gave him info when that clearly didn’t happen.
Idk I kinda think people should understand the difference between a sourced report with specific information and a vague prediction based on something he heard that he didn’t specify. An opinion or prediction is not “inaccurate” even though he ended up being incorrect. It’s fine to clown on Will but being genuinely mad that he misled you or whatever is on you, anyone that was needs like 30 minute course on reading comprehension.
He shouldn’t have tweeted it because he was setting himself up for this but we literally have no idea what he heard. He could’ve heard that the Sox are making an offer for Alonso and ran with it. The crazy thing is if he had just reported what he heard instead of making a prediction based on it no one would bat an eye.
Full throttle baby! Yeah, what a depressing offseason after having $$$ from losing Devers to plug some holes and make a solid club… yeesh this aged like spoiled milk
The Pearl clutching when he quit Twitter after this was so funny. He's a public figure that generated engagement and interest in his own brand by speculating on something like this and then gets mad when people notice nl
He wasn't just wrong he was being ridiculous. You can't make rapid speculation that's super optimistic like this. And then be surprised when people call you out on it.
How about just wait until you have information and then report it like a responsible professional?
You don't want to call him a fraud how about this... He's incredibly unprofessional.
Someone stupid says something moronic on Twitter and gets rightfully flamed for it but then uses these "death threats" excuse to then get the blame off of them and onto the idiots who say insane shit on Twitter.
There are crazy people on the internet yep and everyone can agree it doesn't make what Flemming said any less fucking moronic lol. Dude said something so insanely wrong that he tried to blame insane people on the internet to shift the blame. Literally everyone does this
im not crying to the mods. this isn't what fandom should be, alright. fandom should be positive not nasty towards your own. the guy made a dumb tweet. let it die.
Uh, no. Fandom should be celebrating the good and venting about the bad. Flemming is part of the FSG PR machine and he got burned. He deserves to be vented at. This is his “full throttle”. That will stay with Werner as long as he’s an owner and they stay the course like this.
That saying, I agree that people shouldn’t be threatening him or anything like that.
i agree with being positive. if there is a silver lining it’s that at least personally i’m more bullish on the young players and felt years 3-5 of bregman would be subpar anyways. but can see why fans would be frustrated at the lack of anything in an offseason where it was said that wouldn’t be the case.
Didn't we get Gray and Contreras? I'm happy with those 2. Bregman is the first domino. Let's see what happens. Suarez and Bichette are still out there.
You saw that Bichette is thought to be looking for $300M? There’s no chance in hell the Sox will spend that. Eugenio Suarez would be an extremely disappointing consolation prize, but I’d take him at this point. There isn’t any Bregman caliber player left to snag in free agency and Kyle Tucker is a bad fit and probably even more expensive. I’m happy with Gray and Contreras too, but don’t get your hopes up I think there’s a very real chance what you see is what you get.
Referring specifically to this post, Gray happened well before it and Contreras happened a bit after the 72 hours. So maybe give partial credit to Contreras but that's not a heck of a lot to justify this tweet.
Legit curious what Will heard/thought he heard when he tweeted this out.
He heard the Red Sox made an aggressive offer!
They might have even been interested in other players, that’s just as good as signing them!
He heard about how much alignment we have with the free agents
He thought he heard ….
Sort of embarrassing for him
Maybe he just forgot the “/s”
Generational twitter fumble
And then rage quit when people called out his bullshit report lmao
Pretty sure he didn’t even follow through on quitting
yall need to learn what a report is
And Flemming needs to learn what a reporter is.
Hint: He isn’t one.
Yeah he’s not one. He didn’t say he was one. This isn’t a report.
So you could almost say tweeting something like this was a stupid thing to do.
He can tweet whatever he wants. Anyone that decided to get mad at a guy for getting a prediction wrong is an actual idiot because this wasn’t a report

i’m not surprised people got mad but they are indeed actual dumb and stupid people if they did

Edit: and

He would have happily accepted his flowers if this came to fruition

This should surprise absolutely no one. This POS ownership group isn't even hiding it anymore.
Exactly
Maybe we should start a big take over...yeah
Jah, man

Full throttle right up the fans poopers
We should just accept the Sox won’t be good again until 2104
Trading Mookie really was the Bambino Curse pt.2.
Curse of the Bloombino
Well, that seems excessive. 2103 seems a lot more reasonable. 2104 though? A little overreactive tbh
The Pearl clutching when he quit Twitter after this was so funny. He's a public figure that generated engagement and interest in his own brand by speculating on something like this and then gets mad when people notice nl
That whole saga was so embarrassing and then everyone babying him like he isn't a 50yo man tweeting dumb shit
The Red Sox media propaganda machine needs be wholesale ignored by this subreddit going forward
And then he ran away and hid like a child
Not talked about enough how pathetic the media around this team is. Applying ZERO pressure to ownership/front office.
Will Flemming loves himself some Will Flemming. Hate listening to him.
I got down voted to oblivion for calling this guy a fraud. People here worship the guy.
Was he wrong, certainly. But calling the dude a fraud? Overkill.
He wasn't just wrong he was being ridiculous. You can't make rapid speculation that's super optimistic like this. And then be surprised when people call you out on it.

John Henry is the worst owner in Boston sports
he's stooge
Maye is probably nasty at pickleball
Lol wtf wrong article
Will Flemming has bosses to report to and performance expectations to meet. It’ll be helpful to remember that.
yes! The Sox were able to resist the urge to pay money to a free agent! I am definitely smiling now that I know they didn't pay Bregman!
A tale as old as time.

Oh shut up. Leave him alone. God. 🙄
Nah he was a cheerleader for the Raffy trade. Let him take it on the chin
“LEAVE WILL FLEMMING ALOOOOOOOOOONE!”
He made a post he's a public figure. The idea that people are going to forget about this is gone this will be a meme for the rest of his career.
mods?
guys lets not be crappy fans on here.
and now I'm going to get downvoted.
Crying to the mods to delete this is so pathetic
i don’t even know what is delete worthy about this…

Letting a tweet from will flemming live in your heart rent free a month later is pathetic. Save this energy for Henry
Found the FSG burner account
Stfu

Dude
Yes? Is the off-season over? No? Okay. We got Bregs in February last year.
You saw that Bichette is thought to be looking for $300M? There’s no chance in hell the Sox will spend that. Eugenio Suarez would be an extremely disappointing consolation prize, but I’d take him at this point. I’m not saying we have an actual shot at Bichette but just because he wants $300 million doesn’t mean he’ll get it or anywhere close.
Do I believe we will sign Bichette? Probably not but I’d love it.
Do I think Bichette will have to come down majorly from the $300 million wherever he lands? Yes.
I've not seen that. I saw $160 mil.

Ah so you’re the troll
