Very good NFL linebacker Shaq Thompson was drafted and signed by the Red Sox. He played one season in rookie ball and had a 78.7% k-rate. He put the ball in play twice in 47 plate appearances and then quit to go do what he was supposed to do.

I’m just saying people who say hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports have never gotten mauled by a 350 pound o lineman and then the reward for beating him is meeting Derrick Henry in the hole.

How would Garrett get walked though. The pitchers would know he’s a football player and throw him strikes by taking a bit off the gas. Every MLB pitcher could do that
Garrett would go 0 for his career at the plate which is probably worse than Bregaman getting pancaked on every snap. At least Bregman’s body would be a tripping hazard.
If Garrett has feet for hands like some football players, Story would absolutely have more value on a football team... or at least he would cause less harm. Having zero talent at SS is hard to understate how bad it would turn out for a baseball team. Even if Trevor sat on the sidelines and you had to play with 10 guys, that's much less of a detriment than a disaster at SS. Think of all the balls that have to move through the middle infield.
That being said, if Garrett has played a little ball as a kid and is at least somewhat natural, I'd take my chances teaching him than overcoming Story's size limitations, yea I agree
