Nah, that will be much unlikely. 874 OPS in AAA translates below .500 OPS in NPB.
For example, Aristides Aquino put up 1.108 OPS in AAA 2022. The very next year he put up miserable .438 in NPB. It's even more deadball era now than 2023.
Oh, hell yes. Went to a Giants game a few years ago, one of the best baseball games I've ever been to. I'll try and go back to Japan to see Bob play for sure.
And is, right now, the same age as Dalbec when he debuted and has actually shown something as a qualified batter. It’s embarrassing that people are still trying this.
Yea Casas is good. So long as he can make his way back from that injury, which I admit was a serious one. I anticipate Casas will have a slow return to action this year. It'll probably take him April and May to shake off the cobwebs and find his groove, but if he's truly healed I bet he mashes in the second half.
Fangraphs says his career is 26% and was over 30% in 2024. He has gotten worse each year since 2023. And BTW injuries matter so he can't even stay healthy as well
Bobby D has never been injured and can’t get a major league job because he can’t make contact with the ball. Casas had an elevated k rate in 2024 after he came back from injury and was clearly playing through pain and not swinging as much. Just say you don’t watch the games.
Watch him hit 50 home runs.
legit think he will crush there
Agreed. Hopefully with a few years of bombs he can get a gig back here if he wants it.
?. “if Bobby Dalbec wants it” . No. Absolutely not
Eric Thames did it. Shrug
Agree. Love this for him

The NPB is not a good league hitter wise. Should be generally considered sub AAA.
When over 1.000 OPS guys in AAA are struggling to hit over .600 OPS in NPB?
Coming for that Murakami single season record. Show the White Sox what they missed out by releasing him.
Won’t even to get half of that.
Now to complete the circle and acquire Okamoto.
What if Okamoto is Bobby D.?
Think he’ll actually do quite well over there. Wish him the best
The circle of AAAA life.
Bobby is a free elf
demonn free
Keep getting checks, Bobby! Thanks for the good times. (Yes, haters, there were good times.)
Bobby D is 30?!
Somewhere there are still Red Sox fans waiting for him to finally hit his potential.
25 at heart
31 next June
He was a rookie at 25
Good for him! I'm glad he's still living the dream and playing baseball for a living
Go get em Bobby San
That's fantastic! He'll get to earn a bigger paycheck over there, as opposed to his minor league salary. Good for Bobby!
He’s going to rake on a steady diet of 91mph fastballs.
More like he’ll see a steady diet of forkballs.
Bobby Bombs gonna light up Japan 👊🏻
Mr. Baseball!!!
Bobby Dalbec theme song
Nice guy. Just wasn’t meant to hack it as a full-time major leaguer despite potential early on. Hopefully Japan provides him a new lease on life.
I’ve been saying for years he’s the perfect NPB guy
Big Bob, I wish him well. I'm surprised the Sox didn't give him a call. He's in FSG's price range, I'm sure.
Too old, right? 🤣
I hope to see Bobby D again one day
He is the baseball example of pretty privilege among this fanbase.
I think this is a good signing for the Giants. I bet he’ll have a great year
I remember being at the game where he dinged 3 against the Twins. Fun night. Gl in the NPB
I was wondering which NPB team to get into, i guess that answers it!
Same!
Well the Yomiuri Giants are basically the Japanese Yankees so take that into account lol.
He’s the first player I can remember this sub actually letting the memes convince them he could play.
They’re gonna write about Bobby Bombs in the history books now
The more miles between him and a Red Sox uniform the better
He’ll be happy there. He’s a solid AAA player. Not a major leaguer. I am happy for him
Say it ain’t so Bobby!
Finally some good offseason news!
Damn, I need to get back to a Giants game. I wonder what his personal mascot merch will look like. Or his bento box meal.
He’s gonna mash in Japan
Oh, hell yes. Went to a Giants game a few years ago, one of the best baseball games I've ever been to. I'll try and go back to Japan to see Bob play for sure.
Who?
Casas will be joining him in the next year or two
Why, is he going to start striking out at a 40% clip?
He was around 30% this year before he got hurt. Before you mentioned strikeout rate, I was primarily going off that he can't hit
Yeah all those guys who can’t hit have a 119 career WRC+. K rate of 24% this season including umpires calling him out on strikes at his ankles btw.
Dalbec: career OPS of .713 and OPS+ of 91. Casas: career OPS of .800 and OPS+ of 118. Casas is markedly better than Dalbec.
And is, right now, the same age as Dalbec when he debuted and has actually shown something as a qualified batter. It’s embarrassing that people are still trying this.

George Valera the Guardians prospect had the exact same injury in September 2024, got surgery, came back and played in the minors for three months before getting called up for the first time. There was a recent interview with him about it. https://www.mlb.com/news/george-valera-discusses-not-giving-up-after-multiple-injuries#:~:text=Valera%20injured%20his%20knee%20on,moment%20of%20tough%20injury%20luck.
This guy is an outfielder too, so is more dependent on his athleticism Casas ever was. Has an OPS over 1000 in three playoff games lol
Bro I’m waiting for this source for “around 30%” or are you just saying any old shit for attention?
Fangraphs says his career is 26% and was over 30% in 2024. He has gotten worse each year since 2023. And BTW injuries matter so he can't even stay healthy as well

lol at deleting your comment, coward
My god did this kid SUCK. 😆
Suckers
Happy for him. He’s gonna get a lot of happy endings out there!!
Thank god.
Adios dude.
Booooo bobby Dalbec booooo
nahhh
This is what he should have done last year. Rumor mill was that he turned down NPB and KBO offers to play minor league ball across the Midwest.
He doesn't have a ton of career time left. He's gonna find a way to get it back and put it on display.
