I think it's cool af people like you know how do stuff like that. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Be proud dude you've done what tons of others couldn't šš
I use chatbots Google Gemini to teach me, they're hallucinating constantly, but eventually I learn how to do it in 6 months. This is a proof of concept. I plan to build a one megawatt laboratory/refinery
Yes, eventually I'm in the middle of connecting, I gotta reconnect my battery cells, cause they're not balanced right now. Gotta make sure they're all balanced, then check inverter, and then I'll rewire all my house wiring to a sub panel, and it will run from batteries always. battery will be charged from the solar panels and at night, I'm going to get free nights plan with reliant 100% truly free nights plan, and charge the batteries for free, I thought I could also get away with the smaller battery.
I'm going to rewire the cells because they're not balanced so I have to disconnect all the wires that's why I didn't connect it yet and A arrived only a few days ago when I was doing the connection I didn't have the breakers and fuses. Right now only a charge controller is connected, but I'll be disconnecting and reassembling it to balance the cells easier.
I feel like you could find more reliable information through traditional searches, unless you're really bad at evaluating search results, but you do you.
Gemini is much faster, like 10 times faster than trying to find research. I did traditional research before chatbots were available and it takes much longer. chatbot you can just ask a question and instantly tells you the answer instead of having to search for hours
Every time I tried to get ai to do electrical circuits for me it was way wrong. Theres a reason its so much faster. It skips a lot of important information.
No real grass, backyard full of solar panels. You've found a great solution to not needing lawncare. Though I bet weeding can be a pain due to Texas weeds.
I sprinkled white pebbles where I don't want the grass and like mud so I can walk. I don't really weedeed the backyard I just shift panels frequently and it just kills the grass anyway
You are correct. If mishandled, this is extremely dangerous. It could arc weld things if shorted, look at the styro pyro using 100 car batteries in parallel. This is comparable power https://youtu.be/ywaTX-nLm6Y?si=eaQGI2tI1NHXK-Ym
I have to be careful to not overcharge the cells. If I have some cells that are higher than the others, it's not good. That's what I mean. I have to balance them. So I have to make sure they're all very similar. If I overcharge the cells, it becomes swollen and destroys the capacity and starts making hydrogen gas, which is much more explosive than methane gas aka natural gas, which a spark can trigger from anything like a motor or a computer or a power supply and rises so you must have ventilation
The ones I found I'd have to buy 24 active balances or passive balances and it becomes too expensive and it doesn't make sense economically. My whole point is to make it as economical as possible. Plus I need to quadruple the size of my battery. I need like 200 kilowatts raw capacity. I think I'll start getting a Tesla car battery and disassembling and rebuilding it so it takes less space, and make a custom bms for it
Looks like individual modules are indeed ~23V nominal so I stand corrected... Except for the part where you actually go and disassemble the battery pack to begin with.
individual cells is 2 volts 1400ah gel vrla industrial telecom. I assembled it and now disassembled it I need to balance them using I want to do it with car jumper cables. I tried to balance them with ground cable but I only did it for three days so I'll try to do it again by combining the most charged and the least charged so it does it faster
Just be careful, please bro. I love shit like this but don't rush it. Do extra digging and reading and field it on here and maybe 4chan if this gets taken down so somebody with knowledge can chime in if they see you're about to do something catastrophically stupid.
Valve regulated lead acid gel. 2 volt 1400 amp hours cells, 24 of them in series make 48 volts, 67 kilowatts about. I need like at least twice as much for 1 day my house, and like 25 kilowatts of solar I haven't installed yet. Total finished system size cost with twice as big battery about $15k USD, diy
a bms would be nice but not required for that acid. Those batteries you got for $75 each sell, so getting a BMS would probably triple the cost or something.
I like to advertise the phone because i like the phone, and if people want to get similar, they'll know what the name is. I do hate advertisements on the web browser, so i have ublock origin.
Just wanna put this out there, I see it a lot. DC can shock you, most people assume because a 12v car battery generally doesn't, that all DC is safe, but when wet or the batteries are in series, they absolutely can.
Yes, this is extremely dangerous. i must be very careful. If I drop a wrench across the + and - terminals, it will instantly vaporize creating an arc flash and explosion. The battery themselves have water inside, so they don't have thermal runway unlike lithium, but the danger lies with shorting out something and causing an arc flash, which is extremely difficult to extinguish, and it basically becomes an accidental uncontrolled welding reaction. Also got to be careful with hydrogen gas, must have ventilation. If I overcharge the cells and they create hydrogen gas and it's an enclosed room and there's a spark that will cause an extremely violent explosion.
I was going to say it might be some Redneck Engineering, but it Looks like a Bona Fide Professional fire/explosion and corrosive fume bit of work. But you are aware of that so carry on. Just make sure you have some good fire suppression available along with a safe exit from another part of the house.
This and hopefully it is far, far away from other people's homes and any form of wildlife that might get injured. I'm all for people doing their experiments safely out in the wilderness.
I have never installed solar before, but I'm pretty certain the batteries need to be in a well vented area. They emit explosive gas. May want to look into that.
Thanks, it's 24x 2V 1400Ah valve-regulated lead acid gel industrial telecom batteries, combined 67 kW raw about, usable 80% dod like 50kw. I'm currently trying to balance them before I connect to my inverters to pain in the ass. I have to shuffle around cells with spares to make sure they're all the same voltage.
Grass? What grass? I don't see any grass. š unfortunately, I don't have more space to put panels. I have access to thousands of panels. I'm looking to buy land at least 10 acres and cover everything with solar Per acre I could fit 1000 panels
Yes, I want to put it on the roof using micro inverters easiest and cheapest for residential. On my ranch, I'm going to build DC pretty much. It's much cheaper than micros. I'm going to use thin film high voltage panels. Yes, and I also have HOA that doesn't like so I gotta keep a low profile
My goal is to only pay $5 for electricity instead of $300 right now. Then it will be a business anchor for like 10 businesses. And it's also a proof of concept for scaling up my lab to 1mw
Just proof of concept. I use 80 to 100 kilowatts of per day and assuming 80% depth of discharge, I only have 50 kilowatts, so I need double the size, so when it's cloudy I have one day of buffer battery. Right now I only have half a day of buffer.
Those are a different kind of battery, with the 6 poles like that. Off hand I would venture if you used a center pole and an end pole, you are using only about half the plates and you might get just 6 volts or something less than 12, but the simplest electricity can be a mystery to me sometimes.
Each cell has three terminals for negative and three terminals for positive, but only one cell inside, not three, is just 3 terminals makes it easier for connecting.
I need to at least double the battery to cover one day of my house consumption.
I think it's cool af people like you know how do stuff like that. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Be proud dude you've done what tons of others couldn't šš

Hum... Vibe engineering.
I would make sure the installation is rated safe by a professional at some point.

I insist. You should change the "eventually" to "certainly when I am done". This is a potential risk for you and others.
Not doubting is always a prelude to disasters.

Which model did you use? The gemini fast one, which is extremely stupid, or the pro one, which is smarter, but you can also make mistakes.
Do NOT trust AI models for critical tech knowledge. The hallucinations will cause you to make errors.
I know they hallucinate. Even within the same conversation, if it gets long enough, they hallucinate. I verify with different sources.
Wiring batteries is child's play. He'll be fine.
Why the monochrome?
better low light it's an infrared camera and it looks cool

I was just thinking of those dang giant thistle plants we have in central TX.
Seems dangerous

Sick garage
lol thanks, in progress, I am trying to organize it better.
That place is full of energy.
lol nice
Any issues with offgassing?

Aren't there usually controllers that balance cells in this kind of application?

I mean you can do things really really cheap if you entirely disregard safe design and best practices yeah
I would not fuck with 400V battery cells but have fun
I am going to use DC fuses and breakers.
its 48v

How intense is the sun, where you live? Is it still good enough to recoup your nightly usage during the winter?
I live in Spring, Texas. I should have enough production as long as I put enough solar panels I have extremely cheap solar panels so I just gotta get more land https://youtube.com/@arthurjamesdorovskikh?si=vWEcWGGdPS9woVzP
My other battery post got taken down for some reason by moderator.

I spent about five months doing research daily.
I call it The House Burner 2000ā¢
I call it the accidental hand warmer.
What type of battery chemistry are those cells?
Valve regulated lead acid gel. 2 volt 1400 amp hours cells, 24 of them in series make 48 volts, 67 kilowatts about. a bms would be nice but not required for that acid. Those batteries you got for $75 each sell, so getting a BMS would probably triple the cost or something.
Don't need one for lead acid.
Iām confused because you have the skill to build this which is pretty cool but not the skill to turn off the camera advertising watermark.
I like to advertise the phone because i like the phone, and if people want to get similar, they'll know what the name is. I do hate advertisements on the web browser, so i have ublock origin.

Yes, I know. They usually don't vent it, but if you overcharge them they do.
I posted that before I read your other comments. Comment was based off the picĀ
Itās looking great!

Check out my channel I post research daily. https://youtube.com/@arthurjamesdorovskikh?si=4NSsLudnpVmqcmdq
How do you cut the grass? That's a lot of panels!

I was thinking of some racks on a pole.
But I'm guessing your neighbors wouldn't love that.
-So this is really a proof of concept. temporary test vs long term setup. gotcha.
What do you plan to do with this setup?? Just power your house for a day?
My goal is to only pay $5 for electricity instead of $300 right now. Then it will be a business anchor for like 10 businesses. And it's also a proof of concept for scaling up my lab to 1mw
Neat.
What are you going to do that draws 1mw of power?? That's a shit ton.
one megawatt solar array do Bitcoin mining daylight only small buffer battery
"It ain't much" BUDDY, YA GOT A WHOLE P O W E R G R I D IN ONE SPOT!!

That looks like something I know of, and I nearly asked if you were my friend Iain, but then I saw your hands and there is no way that you are Iain.
And here I thought... on the first picture... it was a vape mod
Do be aware of hydrogen production of batteries in enclosed spaces. Other than that this is sick!
« Jarvis Iām low on karma, post my setup for the 7th timeĀ Ā»
Why dont you buy an AC solar power storage?
That is a lot safer and probably cheaper
What do you mean? like ac coupled battery? those are like 10x more expensive an enphase 10kw battery $4k usd
