• Redditors are so miserable...

    That title, man.

    Like, yes, but unironically.

Maybe. How does that prove they should have been born? lol.

  • Ohhh so that’s why China kept killing their baby girls cause obviously the morally right thing to do is to not have them at all rather than deal with a natural if painful biological function /s

Fun China fact is that a large majority of children adopted out of China during the one child era were girls.

  • Most of the people in that sub which I won’t name are just suicidal and incapable of understanding that not everyone feels that way. “Actually, most people would choose to not exist” is thrown around a lot. It’s a group of people who cannot differentiate between a subjective feeling and an objective reality.

Yah it's honestly such a depressing place and group of people. They hate everything and so they assume everyone else is like them when in reality the vast majority of humans enjoy living.

Last study I saw about it had over 80% of people being at least generally satisfied in life. Which even that isn't saying the other 20% would prefer death

The Earth did not choose to foster life, and yet it still does. Instead of being grateful that something amazing happened, some people are upset because it was not intended to happen.

I think they’re more upset because their lives suck and they need someone to blame. I mean, I was in that kind of place at 14 when I was suicidal and hormonal and hated my parents because I was a nightmare, but that’s because I was a literal child who didn’t know better dealing with the brunt of mental illness. These are 30 something year olds who are mad at their mummy for giving birth to them, or 14 year olds. They haven’t matured past the point of an edgy teenager.

It kind of reminds me of the meth subreddit where it's just a bunch of people circle jerking bad habits until it's normalized in their head

Oh god I remember that one. People showing off nice looking meth crystals and shit.

It's really bad I thought it was joke at first

"I hate my life so that means that I shouldn't have kids!!!"

    Actually, I'm okay with this.

Not as bad as "I hate my life so that means that no one should have kids"

... Which I think that subreddit really is, if I'm not mistaken

    Eeewwwwwww stupidity

  • Yes, everyone should be asked for consent before being born

    FFS

  • Get pregnant, temporary solution.

“Oh no, that will only bring more people into the world, unaceptable!”

  • Men straight? Yeah, most of them are.

  • There’s nothing wrong about periods. It’s not a death sentence. These losers act like being female is the worst thing to happen to you

  • They might have a point… periods suck

Edit: holy shit I was joking.

I mean yeah, but it's pretty extreme to say they're so bad you'd rather have never been born.

    They can get that bad

Sure, in the moment and at the time. Pretty bold to expand that out to "we shouldn't have children because periods hurt so much they make life not worth living".

    I didn't say that

I just said they can get really bad don't underestimate how bad they actually can

No I know, but that's what that sub is. They're antinatalists, people who belive that the suffering involved in life is so bad that having children is morally wrong, because you are forcing them to suffer and they can't consent to it. I'm not doing down the pain periods can cause, except to the extent I'd suggest that while yes, they can be terrible, I don't think they're so bad as to make death genuinely preferable.

I know about the antinatalism sub and I know how weird they are about people with kids. I'm just saying periods can be hell to where some people end up throwing up or curling up on the floor and crying.

As a girl, they suck but also I like living, so...

  • How long your menstrual cycle lasts, how much it hurts and if its regular or not is decided by genes. Sure if it's from the father's side you never know if the genes are from hell, but if yr the rare type of woman who faints when she gets her period and bleeds like she just had an abortion, maybe, just maybe, don't have a kid. Cus genes. But I assume the case above isn't like that. I was just being a lil educational.

Also she can get her tubes tied or whatever to stop periods.

    Lol...

Also, having your tubes tied won't stop your periods...

Got another reddit eugenist over here

It’s shocking how many people are fine with eugenics on this site. And not even always for genetic reasons either, a lot think if you’re poor or unintelligent you shouldn’t be allowed to have kids. And also that if a fetus has been detected to have a defect or disorder like Down’s Syndrome it should be aborted.

But they’re totally anti-fascist bro, trust them bro. They just believe certain people they deem unfit shouldn’t be allowed to reproduce. I also see forced sterilization brought up a disturbing amount too, like forcing young boys to get vasectomies and reversing them later if they “prove” themselves worthy to reproduce.

Would it not be irresponsible to have a child if you’re poor? If you’re considered poor alone you’re probably not going to be able support a child in addition. /gen

This just assumes that the person has always been poor. Also, sure it’s irresponsible, but forcing people to not have kids just for being poor is different than letting them do it but disapproving.

“Do not reproduce if your genes are inferior”

do a little heckin wholesome eugenics as a treat

reddit comments advocating for social darwinism

    a lovely day

What in the French fried fuck did I just read?

    Yay eugenics!!!

Eugenics over heavy periods is crazy. I’d get the sentiment if you were talking about severe endometriosis, but generally heavy bleeding isn’t something considered to be so horrible as to make someone’s life overall not worth living

Suggesting aborting your child because of periods is absolutely disgusting

Reddit moment in the reddit moment subreddit

    Ok adolf calm down

So we should selectively breed people with the most desirable traits? Something like tall, strong, smart, blue eyes, blonde hair?

Where have I heard that before...

Getting your tubes tied doesn't stop periods. I have horrible periods, but I've always wanted to keep living despite that lol.

Let's hope I have boys I guess because you can't live a happy life with bad periods evidently. /s

The way I howled at “get her tubes tied or whatever”. Couldn’t even have the decency to ask Google a single question about tying tubes and whether it affects periods. Just another ignorant man assuming they know better about women’s bodies than women themselves.

there's actually a German word for that Lebensunwertes Leben, it's from the 1930s

    Bad women’s anatomy.

Periods are uterine lining shed, not shed from the fallopian tubes. I’d call you a LLM but even LLMs aren’t that stupid.

What?? So youre saying gastric bypass surgery doesnt stop periods?? But theyre related!!

Firstly, let me say that I fully recognise the sarcasm that your comment was dripping with but I'm going to "erm, ackually" you and say that gastric surgery can indeed stop periods. It happened to my ex-partner (bypass) and her sister (band) for at least a few years -- I have no idea if it ever returned to normal. It also happened to some other people, where various systems failed up to and including several deaths.

This incident occurred in the UK at an NHS hospital. Yes, I could provide links to the media coverage of the event to verify, but no, I won't, because it's just three or four steps from there to photos of my house on Google Street View using publicly available information. The surgeon simply permanently disabled me rather than killed me which is why there's lots of info out there plus I am literally the only patient in the country with my particular issues. I was again literally the case study for it, which is another reason I'm not doxing myself to that level.

I went to provide proof privately to DizzyDiddyd but they've disabled private messages. If they want to see the proof, I'll send it over if they whitelist my username and let me know.

its ok man you dont have to, i believe you on this 👍

That's a shame, I'd already typed it up and cited my sources. :-) Stripping out the links, the sources I provided were from the following places:

    Medical Sources:

    • British Medical Journal
    • General Medical Council

    Press Sources:

    • Evening Standard (x2)
    • Daily Mail
    • International Business Times (x2)
    • Two Local Newspapers

I'm not specifying the names of the local newspapers here because it greatly narrows down the area to a few miles. The menstral cycle issues happened to my ex and her sister and it happened to the six women specified in the news articles. After their cycles stopped, the other six women's other systems started shutting down until they literally starved to death despite eating.

My ex and ex's sister had their surgeries at a different hospitals with different surgeons so these cases weren't down to one specific surgeon. Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure that irregular cycles was identified in the pre-surgery disclaimers as a potential side effect of any weight-loss surgery.

Anyway, I just didn't want anyone to think I was "acktully" posting without being able to be prepared to cite sources. All the best!

oh ok thx, also dw about coming off as "um akshually" because this is actually really interesting stuff and i learned something new today thanks to you lol, cheers friend

You don’t stop the periods with just tying the tubes, you need a hysterectomy. And it’s definitely not just the “father’s side genes”. Jesus Christ you need some education.

    Nein, schlechte Meinung.

I dont think you can grasp the amount of shit you just said

“Because you happened to get fucked by genetics and suffer a lot during periods, you shouldn’t be allowed to find some joy in having a kid of your own. Also go get a physically traumatic surgical procedure done if you don’t like it, are you stupid?”

Also getting tubes tied doesn’t affect periods, dumbass.
