I mean, you would have to be an idiot to think we don’t have big tech censorship or propaganda pushing here too. China’s is just more overt, but it absolutely happens here as well.
Before anyone says anything: fuck China, fuck the CCP, fuck Winnie the Pooh, the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre was both real and horrific, etc.
The US is very overt too. Remember 5 years ago when we were all freaking out about AI facial recognition in China? We have it too, in the US. There are 80,000+ Flock cameras installed nationwide and they absolutely do not follow their stated privacy policy on their website. They are also very vulnerable and multiple cybersecurity experts are concerned about the issue of a license plate reader being easily accessible via the internet or in person.
Whenever I get people like this for any negative comment I make about China(and I mean any), I just ask "What's your opinion on Winnie the Poo? Oh sorry, I meant Xi Jinping."
Miraculously all these people arguing with me disappear.
This isn’t one of those stories, this is like pasting the June 4th Tiananmen Square copypasta in a game server. Everyone in China will drop from the server in seconds. 30 second video of some guy testing it.
China basically cuts the connection when it sees certain keywords. “Winnie the Poo” and “June 4th Tiananmen Square” are popular ones. Using these is a test to see if you’re speaking to a member of the CCP PR team or an actual person.
He’s basically saying all of the pro-China comments come from inside of China.
It’s bad and getting worse everywhere with the internet getting fragmented and centralised.
I don’t understand why OOP is surprised that the Chinese foundational models won’t get into spicy stuff. The company management is still in China and accountable for stuff their AI says.

I mean, aight, the bear is cute but I wouldn’t go that far. At least take him out for a honey date.
There are two Winnie the Poohs. One is the cute yellow bear we all know and love. And the other is a monster known as Xi Jinping

And then everyone clapped?

Idk, I can't see what everyone is doing
Because you’re making a racist joke?
How's that racist?
Oh let me guess, you think people make the comparison because Xi Jinping and Winnie the Pooh must look similar?
No, it's just a meme that people use as a form of resistance against China. Any use of Winnie the Pooh like that has been banned in China since 2017.
Yes, you as a westerner comparing a Chinese person to a yellow bear is racist
Oh boohoo, am I offending you by taking pot shots at a Dictator?
I think you're racist for assuming I'm white just because I'm from a Western country
Weak sauce
Looks like you attracted tankies
