Looks like we’ll be seeing at least one of Mbeumo or Nous back after the 9th.

Naturally I’d prefer to see Mbeumo back as a preference.

  • I dint watch afcon or know how strong any teams are these days. Odds of ivory coast and Cameroon losing thier respective games?

Amad's been a starboy for his country and having a decent tournament. Cameroon is more likely to get knocked out first because they have a pretty tough path. So it could very well be Mbeumo, Amad, then Maz in that order. It would be nice to be wrong and they all lose in the RO16 though.

It's weird hoping our players get knocked out early. I'm glad they are moving the tournament to every 4 years. The flipside of them returning early is does an knock out / poor tournament impact them when they get back. I get why it's played when it is, but it's awful timing for players at European clubs.

The best you can hope for is our players to have amazing tournaments but be let down by their teammates.

I've read every 2 years is ideal for CAF as the afcon makes them the majority of their money. I agree it's poor timing for European clubs though.

If both Ivory Coast and Cameroon get through the RO16 games (where they're favourites) then I think both will be underdogs vs Egypt and Morocco (provided they get through) in the QFs. Could get Amad and Mbeumo back after 10th Jan.

    Back for Man City 🙏

Ivory Coast have a horrible draw. Top bracket stronger than bottom bracket and they have to face Salah in the QF most likely.

I’ll preface this by saying I have watched zero AFCON matches so take this with a pinch of salt… but STATISTICALLY Egypt have been poor, they’ve scored 3 goals in 3 games and 2 of their wins were by 1 goal with the other result being a 0-0 draw. Think Cameroon have more to worry about if they beat South Africa, potentially coming up against Morocco/Algeria/Nigeria who all topped their groups… as I said I’ve watched no matches so I could very well be wrong but wishing the best for our boys Amad Mbeumo and Mazraoui

South Africa are very good right now, didn't have the smoothest group stage but they played some decent teams anyway. That will be a tough game for Cameroon, it's probably the hardest draw of the RO16. Then if they do win that, Morocco are massive favs for the whole tournament so I can definitely see Mbeumo back soonish and obviously Maz probably all the way to the end.

Ivory Coast against Egypt in the QF is likely and will be very close.

But again, this is AFCON and teams all have quality this year, so really anything can happen as far as upsets go.

If you go solely off FIFA rankings then Ivory Coast and Cameroon should win but the rankings are close. N

  • Why do so many people refer to it as afcom? It’s the Africa Cup Of Nations. AFCON.

It was unintentional in my case. The ‘m’ and ‘n’ are right next to each other on the keyboard and hit post without checking.

I’ll let you off! A bunch of people doing it verbally too

Same reason people still call Amorim "Amorin." Ignorance 😂

If you listen to his name he pronounces it with an n

Then his first name should be Huben

I think that's funny cos it sounds a bit like Hammerin' which is usually what we're on the receiving end of

I think they mean to say AMoron

An unknown fact about it is that it was founded by a group of masons in the olden days so therefore it’s als called afcom.

Another fact is that that was a complete lie.

  • Today I am Burkina faso, Tanzania and South Africa.

Come on Bafana Bafana! (This would be a double win for me 🤣)

Hosted one of my favourite World Cups in my memory (apart from those damn Vuvuzelas lol), good luck!

Maybe wish for our players to have success even if they miss games so they can come back with winning something. I guess I’m different

I care for Uniteds success and my nations success above all, we need our top players back.

  • Mbeumo subbed off at halftime today.

What’s up with that? Hope he isn’t injured

Already qualified and wasn’t worth running them into the ground perhaps?

Baleba too, very strange given they were 1-1 at half time.

To protect their legs. They had already qualified

  • Mbeumo coming back on 9th Jan it seems

  • So we might get two of them back if Ivory Coast falls to Egypt. We absolutely will get one of them back after Jan 9th (Cameroon likely playing Morocco).

  • South Africa gonna beat Cameroon.

Even if Cameroon win they likely play Morocco the round after that.

  • Would be good to have Mbeumo's mojo back. If it is served by helping his country get ahead as far as he can and get a confidence boost - so be it

  • Bit of luck have Amad and Mbuemo back Jan 7th🤞🏻

Personally I'd love to see one of them win it. Not good for United obviously but how cool would it be for them to reach the finals. Having an AFCON winner in your squad could do wonders for morale

    Let it be Mazraoui😂

    Haha completely forgot about him

Eh? Ivory Coast play on the 6th

  • It’s coming home.

  • Respect the name AFCON, please OP, next time ehh, don't sound stupid please....

“Don’t sound stupid” is so unnecessarily douchey. Maybe take your own advice.

It was a typo. The ‘m’ and ‘n’ are right next to each other on the keyboard.
