NEXT MATCH
Leeds United vs Manchester United - English Premier League
January 4, 2026 • 12:30
Elland Road, Leeds
I'm starting to think Amorim might actually be compromised. There's no way any person with a working brain would change a 4-2-3-1 that worked well against Newcastle back to a back 5 against Wolves with Dorgu as the LWB without being compromised. He's intentionally bringing the club down. There's no other explanation for this kind of tactics.
Worked well against Newcastle??? We defended for our lives for 70mins after Newcastle adjusted. What on earth were you watching?
You didn't watch the game, did you? We dominated them in the 1st half with a back 4 and Dorgu at the RW position. Mount went off at HT and then we sat back in a back 5 shape during the 2nd half.
Did you actually watch the match? We were 4-2-3-1 for the first 45 mins and dominated them. We then switched to 3 at the back (more often than not 5 at the back and even 6 at times) and let Newcastle dominate possession.
It sure felt like Amorim trying to prove that his stupid system works, there was no reason to completely change the formation after that first half.
He is a stubborn stubborn man
He really appears to be. Why's he so likeable though? I really want him to succeed, bit can't refrain from criticising him due to our perfromances, it's annoying.
I mean… c'mon man, just drop your shitty system and strive ffs.
See you in 2027
I’m
Facts
He should have been shown the exit after the Grimsby result, but there are still people left who will defend him. Three at the back doesn't work, we're playing good players out of position to try to play his system. Our squad, while not fantastic, is capable of winning matches if we just played a normal formation. As soon as I saw yesterdays line up I knew we were either drawing or giving Wolves their first win. Martinez looked great in the cdm role when he came on against Newcastle, start Yoro, put Martinez in the cdm role and drive Ugarte to Galatasary should have been the plan for yesterday. Lets also not forget to mention while great, Cunha's hero ball has been a tough pill to swallow as of late, as has Sesko's inability to finish. He's a more expensive Hojlund at this point.
Those of you still defending Amorim, why? Were going to drop another huge sum on players to fit his awful system only to have him gone and be left with players that won't fit the next managers system and we'll struggle to unload them like we do every season. This rollercoaster is not scary, it's just depressing.
Mate there’s a reason he doesn’t play Martinez at CDM or starts Yoro. I hate people that think they know better than a headcoach who’s surrounded by probably 10-20 specialists and analysts while working with the team in trainings every day. Do you really think Amorim wouldn’t start Martinez if believed it would be the best decision? Almost hope United sack Amorim now just so you can see how wrong you are. Who are you even going to bring in? Things like this takes time and requires a process. Have faith.
I am tired of signing managers that need to learn on the job.
I have been saying this for a while but with how much Gyokeres was scoring and if you watch his goals in Portugal. It would have been really difficult to not win the league there. He would man handle 3 defenders and score. There is a reason everybody was saying that he can't score headers, Amorim's team didn't cross the ball.
Sesko is having as much service as Holjund was getting and will suffer the same way Holjund did eventually until we can actually find a manager that know's how to coach us properly.
When Dominic Calvert-Lewin has 8 goals and our striker has 2, the same amount as Holjund last season (with worse players supporting him). There has to be a fundamental problem from the top.
I'm sorry but good managers get the most out of the players they have available. Not surprised at all with a draw to Wolves. Lets look at the squad we had available vs West Ham and Everton.
Almost every player except Casemiro under Amorim has become worse. That to me screams of a tactical issue.
So glad I didn’t watch this,a draw is embarrassing, and another missed opportunity to get top 5
stupid result
Typical result after Newcastle win really... ._.
Still, looking at just this season, I think overall we're not in a bad spot considering our depleted squad. Though the middle pack is creeping closer so we really need a result vs Leeds.
Hopefully Bruno / Mount are back for Leeds, but I'm not really optimistic.
The Newcastle win was lucky. We could have easily conceded at many points.
This team isn't playing convincingly.
“I have the feeling that if we have to play the perfect 3-4-3, we have to spend a lot of money, and we need time. I’m starting to understand that is not going to happen, so maybe I have to adapt.”
This is a direct Ruben Amorim quote before the Newcastle game.
He then starts against wolves with a 3-4-3, I actually like him as a person but I think his confidence is shot because he’s questioning himself from game to game now and that’s more worrying than his stubbornness.
I think people are underestimating just how shit our squad is. Even with everyone fit, we're probably the 6th best squad at best and that's exactly where we are in the league.
Now we have 8 first team players out that starting 11 is horrific. Dalot is one of the worst RB in the league, Dorgu is an awful LWB, Case and Ugarte is one of the worst CM partnerships in the league, Zirkzee is awful and Sesko is like Bambi on ice and needs 10 chances to score one.
That's 6 of our starting lineup who are just not good enough. And our bench didn't have a single player who can make an impact.
Yes I agree the formation doesn't help us but with the players currently available, that team is bottom half standard.
The players available (excluding bench) are top half of the league quality. But they can’t function in this 343 formation. When they were given half a game against Newcastle playing 433 they awoke from their stupor playing a system they’re all familiar with
Did you watch the first half with Newcastle. Only mount wasn’t absent who didn’t have a great impact. Why did we play well? Because the 4-3-3 worked better and for some reason Amorim decided to change it up
I agree we played well against Newcastle but a large part of that was catching them by surprise and they weren't set up to play against our 433.
I also agree that we should've played 433 last night. I'm just saying looking at the big picture, there is no magical formation that will turn our poor squad in to a good one.
A team consisting of Dalot, Dorgu, Ugarte, Case, Zirkzee and Sesko is a mid table team.
We prob have the 7th or 8th best squad in the league and we're currently 6th. The squad is performing to level they are.
Player ability is not set in stone, my biggest concern is how we currently make our squad look so much worse then everyone expected it to be. With successful managers you usually see something opposite. We can't just expect to buy better players all the time, at some point we got to be able to develop and make more of what we have. And Cunha, Mbeumo, Ssesko and even Zirkzee wasn't exactly seen as some average players when we signed them.
"how we make our squad look so much worse than everyone expected it to be"
Then people have unrealistic expectations. Who out of the teams above us have a worse squad than us?
The players I named wouldn't suddenly be better under another manager. Dalot has been shit under about 5 managers. Case is done at the highest level. Ugarte is crap as he showed at PSG but we somehow decided to sign him. Zirkzee isn't cut out for the PL. Sesko is just far too raw right now.
Cunha and Mbeumo have been good overall this season.
Our league position is starting to look flattering. We've won 3 of our last ten games, while losing to Everton and drawing to Bournemouth, west ham, wolves, forest etc. Our squad should definitely be better than that.
You can say the same thing about every team around us.
Who out of the following teams do we have a better squad than and should be above in the table: Arsenal, City, Villa, Liverpool, Chelsea
There is also an argument that Spurs and Newcastle have a better squad than us.
Comparing us to teams nine points ahead while ignoring teams two points behind with a game in hand doesn't really give a fair reflection of our current position.
Can we expect them to be better than the ones from Grimsby Town?
We were closer to losing this game than not. Thanks to some excellent saves from Lammens, we managed to salvage a point at home against the worst team in PL history. Their 3rd point in 19 games. On average, they score about half a goal per game and concede two. We were poor enough to make them twice as good as they normally are. So poor that they scored double their average goals per game and conceded half as many as average. Think about that for a second. We were so awful that we made the worst team in PL history perform at 200% of their norm.
Same season where we lost to Grimsby, and lost at home to Everton who had a player sent off in the opening minutes of the game.
How is it even possible for Amorim to still have a job? It defies all logic. I legitimately don't think there's any other club in the world that wouldn't have sacked their manager after being so astonishingly terrible for his literal entire time at the club. MUFC must stand out as the one and only sporting institution anywhere that is willing to let itself be dragged through the mud like this. Some people like to say that it's the hardest job in football, but it's starting to look like the easiest. You can be the very worst there ever was and keep your job. Pure insanity.
This walking to the right decision not running to a wrong decision won't work for ineos . Champions league football is a must next season, how the hell are they hoping to win the league in 2028 if the situation is so bad now . We need to start buying players in January if we want any chance of ucl qualification. Either you trust amorim and back him with money or make the decision instead of writing this season off
People expect us to be higher in the league and performing better, but at the same time will sit and tell you how bad Ugarte, Zirkzee, Dalot, Fletcher, Shaw, Dorgo and Casemiro are lmao.
I’m not Amorim in or out, I’ve wanted the system changed for long enough and I’m not impressed by how’s it been. I’m content on the league position though and it’s basically been the season I expected so far.
What an awful result. Only thing not wanting him to be sacked asap in my eyes is the injuries to our main cb’s & afcon players out.
But really wouldn’t be sad to see him go at this point
the main thing about reddit is if you have the most downvotes, you're usually right
Drawing at home against the worst epl side in history. Let's see how amorim fans spin this result. Well we had more passes than wolves, that's proof that Amorim is the man. We had higher Xshit, so that must be progress, and so on. And don't blame the squad, Eth in his 2nd season had the entire defence injured and a forward line consisting of jogford and garnacho.
It's always the squad. We can sign two of the best goalscorers in the league and still have fans defending the manager for getting close to relegation due to having a mid table league one squad at best. At no point it's Rubens fault for making the squad look so shit.
Amorim is just going to every match to prove he is right. That his 5 at the back system is right. He thinks it's him against the world, as if the world has no eyes to see that it's not working. Plus he makes weird subs and changes CB every game for the fun of it. I swear he has a CB quick sub button set up.
It's not even about getting the best out of the team anymore, it's about him proving he is not wrong. And then we have owners that don't want to take accountability that they appointed the wrong person so they just stay silent and make us sink deeper into the hole
So thats Edwards, Frank, Ange and Silva who have come out and said they set up to counter our formation as they knew Amorims tactics and strategy as he never changes. ... Telling!
You could literally say the same same thing about a manager that plays back 4 every game... why would an opposition manager randomly prepare to play a back 5 against Pep one day when he doesn't play that way?
Amorim has a lot of things you can blame him for but going for stuff like this is just silly...
Rangnick>ETH>Amorim fucking hell what a run!
Ole's last 10 games before his sacking: LLWDLWLWDL.
My how standards have dropped.
Get me Solksjaer back.
Honestly I was OGS out near his end. But bloody hell what a fool I was, i would have him back in a heart beat. It was wild and he had issues but we were going somewhere and he was building something.
I kid you not it's the only time I've been sad to see someone sacked. I really wanted him to stay
Let's pray he gets a 2nd chance
Finally more people are seeing the light when comes to how awful Ruben has been managing our club. His ego is way bigger than his talent. Sack him before he drags us back to where we ended up last season.
throwing more money at this manager would be the stupidest thing we could do
so I fully expext us to do exactly that
But another £200m+ of players will surely fix this!
Exactly, some even blaming the squad is not complete thats why couldnt win against Wolves. LOL, if we cant even beat the most bottom team in the league which only had 2pts before meeting us, I don't know what to say already man.
When I watched ralf ragnick managing us, I thought that was rock bottom, Amorim is just way worse.
Missed 3 matches in a row (I overslept) because of the 03:00 AM kick-off.
Woke up just to see this embarrassing result. What happened, pros and cons?
Woke up with 15 minutes left. Kinda starting to think I should start skipping Man United games. They are not worth it.
Pros? Lammens
Cons? Everything except Lammens
Pros? Lammens made a few saves that prevented it being a loss. Cons? Literally everything else.
Case has been brilliant since the Everton game.
We are on target to match the points ETH got in his last full season when everyone wanted him sacked. Only an FA cup win kept him in the job. That was also our worst ever PL finish (8th) until last season.
The standards at this club are collapsing. We obviously dropped off after Fergie, but the fall off has accelerated in recent years.
Am i the only one who wasnt really impressed by the newcastle game? yes the first half was okay but the way its been touted it seem like we dominated them and created loads of chances
LOL go to the post match thread from the Villa game and this sub was praising a mediocre performance that gave us no points.
2 matches later it’s Amorim out.
Funny stuff man, and I got downvoted for saying standards are shit even with our fans.
We played waaay better in Aston Villa game. The Newcastle game was basically Park The Bus and hope for the best. And we could have easily lost the Newcastle game. It's the Villa game that should make fans happy.
I swear “why’s the manager subbing in Fletcher to play on the wing when he’s a CM? Fletcher is the manager’s secret son” is so 2003 that I’m typing this from my Windows XP and broadband Internet
Amorim has to go. He’s the worst manager post Ferguson.
I said he should have gone in the summer after finishing 15th and losing to Spurs in the EL final. Its absolutely bizarre that he has survived for 14 months with only 1 winning streak that lasted all of 3 games.
I remember when people in this sub used to downvote all these types of comments. Wait for his "system and his players" shit guy and shit manager
and calling that a streak is a fucking embarrassment for a club like Manchester
Idk about you guys but drawing at home to one of the worst teams in prem history deserves a sacking
Genuinely came here to say this. I hate seeing all these comments about firing a manager, but this is a low point. This wolves team might be the worst in prem HISTORY. Anything other than a win should be unacceptable
Almost his whole tenure has been a low point, to be honest.
It's a valuable point if we are going to avoid relegation
Even if you completely ignore last season, there has already been 5 different stackable performances this season, but for some reason this clown deserves more time apparently
There are no words left anymore
Such a weird prem this season, but the only thing i can think of is that with a different coach and a “normal” system we’d be in a guaranteed top4/5 position
Squad lacks literally the most important players for Amorim’s style of play. Dalot, Maz or even Shaw would cover at full back so much better than in these advanced positions, and our aged and weakened midfield could hide their issues much better in a midfield 3, where it would also be easier to integrate the youngsters that are clearly thrown in deep end right now
Got downvoted to hell for calling Amorim the Portuguese Avram Grant after the Villa game and everyone's switched up after today? What happened to the process? Back your manager.
you deserve all the internet points brother! Now jerk off to your wonderful take!
I was starting to think that maybe Amorim could turn this around, but there is no nice way of saying this, he might just be the stupidest cunt I have ever seen manage this football club.
To go back to a back 3 at home to one of the worst teams in PL history is pretty close to unforgivable.
Amorim openly admitted the other day that he couldn't and wouldn't change the system while the press or fans were calling for him to do it. His reasoning was "how would it make me look?".
It's difficult to have words for someone with a mindset this stubborn, that they will automatically rule out what is best for the football club, if the press are telling him to do it. Never heard of a Manchester United manager basing their system on what the press are saying. I mean, wtf?
Amorim is a clown and if you support him so are you. We’ll finish 10th this season at best
But we're joint 5th! Haven't you heard? We have all the excuses in the world with injuries and afcon and blah blah blah. Ruben will do an Arteta just you wait and see.
/s
Bad result. That better push Ineos to sign players this window
Amorim out. The worst manager we ever had.
I keep watching that Sa claw off the line. wtf was Dalot doing? This is why he’s so frustrating
This pissed me off. I know he's a defender, but you've got to braindead not to chase that instead of just holding your hands up. Even if you're offside you chase for the rebound. Sesko got closer to the follow up than Dalot did.
I was there tonight, abysmal performance, however 1 positive Heaven was immense again, and there was a huge chorus of boos when he was taken off.
He (Heaven) made a forward pass about 2 minutes before he got subbed. I said to my mate next to me, that's him dropped for the next game, sarcastically. And then... He actually got substituted. At 1-1. Against a team who had two points. This manager is absolutely unreal.
I was there too, I think the frustration was about another pointless change of CB rather than anything particular about Heaven or Yoro when we're needing a goal. He really has to stop doing this.
Why is this guy always subing the defender in around 60 min , it's like this default setting
We're now in a period of playing a game every 4-5 days. No time to mope. That one more goal we could have gotten. Get the timing. Get the run. Get stronger.
These are just words on the screen at this point. No meaning behind them.
Compared to yours? Or many others in the sub? lol look around first man
Fulham, Forest, Spurs, West Ham, Bournemouth, Wolves
6 games where we've had a lead and ended with 1 point and in every one of those games we've switched off and allowed the opposition back into it, given them confidence and in 3 cases gone from a winning position to a losing one.
I'm not expecting to win all of them but even with 3 of them being seen out like West Ham, Bournemouth and Wolves at home we'd be comfortable in the top 4.
AM is not serious about a rebuild. He is still desperately trying to win games with players not for the future. Understandably Kobe ain’t it at the moment, but him or someone else should have been there learning the ropes. I don’t think there has been any growth
What does this comment even mean, are you drunk? He has a squad that he has to work with. Since he came in we have bought 4 of 11 players. Are those 4 players not for the future?
The smartest are always the loudest. It’s pretty obvious. Just like a national team and like he promised. He should have been developing the players and the system with a 2/3 year vision. It’s the short term thinking. Heshould cut losses and run with Heaven, Fletcher, Mainoo and the boys now. Let them grow together. It’s half assed, unfortunately demonstrated by us not selling Bruno
That would be a terrible idea. Just so you know.
Ya, actually growing a squad bad idea👍
Is that what you are saying? Im sorry, it reads to me like you are saying get rid of a load of first team players and hope the academy is good enough to replace them… oh, sorry, that Amorim should have been coaching them to replace the first team?
I have no idea what you are suggesting
Nah he desperately tries to prove his 3-4-3 works.
I don’t understand what’s wrong with this fan base. Or is it this subreddit? The most negative overreactive people I’ve ever seen.
I sit with people and watch the football and they turn red screaming and spraying saliva at the TV and I just don’t get it. The same with screaming into a reddit thread.
We didn’t lose. We didn’t have the best game of course. But we played quite well all things considered and we are still top 10 on the table. Also Chelsea drew which is fantastic.
Find some festive spirit you lot. Holy shit. Miserable pancakes.
Just downvoting me because you can’t handle some truth? Sure. Keep screaming into your TVs and scaring your kids.
go back to the Liverpool sub man
We just contributed to ⅓ of wolves' entire prem points
This is why Amorim still has a job.
We didn't play well.
When did top 10 become acceptable?
And we played against Wolves. The worst team in Premier league history. At home.
Becomes acceptable after a decade+ of meritocracy and a rotting club. We are playing way better than I’ve seen in a long time. Even if the results aren’t 100% at the moment.
Try another sport, not sure you are getting anywhere with this one
Criticise the formation all you want, criticise the players. Understandable.
I do not understand in a game like this criticising the subs.
I implore anyone who criticised the subs to just name a real, existing Manchester United player who could have come on from the bench. Who?
All good saying the subs suck but who comes on when good players on the bench don’t even exist? How is that something to complain at the manager about? Is he responsible for generating new players to play?
Our three absolute best players (maybe four including Mount) are out. We played Mantato and Fletcher, neither of whom are up to this speed at all yet. Who else comes on and changes the game?
Um maybe not subbing our goal scorer so Fletchers son who has been as useful as a traffic cone every time he’s come on to play wing when he’s been a CM his whole life is a good start. I implore you to give me 3 reasons why Amorim is not a fraud. (Trick question. He’s a fraud)
Not OP, but Zirkzee looked pretty poor. I wasn't surprised he got subbed. We do lack quality subs. We lack them in general, but more so right now.
Stop doing subs that change nothing tactically, take off a defender and put on a midfielder, etc
We just play the same from start to finish because the subs are replacing a CB with a worse CB, a midfielder for a worse midfielder, and so on
Which midfielder are you talking about?
We put on two academy midfielders who made the game significantly worse and left a massive hole in the midfield.
Oh, it was the third academy midfielder who would have solved everything? My bad.
I'll say it again, a defender for a midfielder, and change formation
Don't even have to sub someone to try that
That’s formation, not subs. I said you can complain about formation. We had no subs to improve that situation in a different formation.
Most of our defenders and midfielders are out. You can’t add an extra man in midfield because it doesn’t exist.
Instead of swapping Yoro for Heaven, bring on Lacey and put an extra body forward. Simple. Why play Fletcher out of position?
If Lacey coming on for his second ever game is where you’re reaching to complain at Amorim you’re reaching too far.
You don't have to reach very far to complain about him. But in what world is Heaven off for Yoro better than this? Or Fletcher playing in Lacey's position?
But the argument is the subs specifically are really not something to complain about. We have no subs. Lacey is not a solution.
If Lacey had come on, we’d probably hear “why not give Mantato a game?”
Yoro has more experience and can drive up the pitch, fresh legs to deal with the gap left by the academy midfielders.
If you can't see that Lacey is more of a solution than keeping 5 defenders on the pitch at home to Wolves, I can't help you.
More of a solution relative to what?
So the only option Amorim had to manage this game successfully in your eyes was Lacey? As I said, if Lacey had come on and the game had failed, we’d hear about Mantato.
The formation is a separate issue. We barely even have 3 midfielders for a 3 man midfield.
Relative to getting attacking intent in a game where we had none. He's a wide player. Fletcher coming on to play wide right was a bad sub.
It's not ideal, sure. But Amorim somehow made worse out of a bad situation, as he often does with subs.
He very easily could have played 4-4-2, but didn't. Cowardly 5atb at home to Wolves.
Yeah, this is a very valid criticism of his subs.
New year same shit
Everton who won at Old Trafford make Nottingham Forest away look as comfortable as it should be. Amorim's football makes a home game against Wolves — the worse premier league team going— look like a chore. It's not going to work here is it ?
I’m a season ticket holder. This is where we are right now. It will be a while before things get better. I can’t help feeling there’s a decent 4231 in this squad, but the manager is willing to die on his hill, so we will see…
So this is life with bruno right
Fucking Hell. This comment section reads like it's run by Liverpool fans. Bunch of toxic "fans". This club was 15th last year, and they earned it. What the fuck did you expect this season?
Support the club if you support them.
People still support this club that's why they still go to the games or tune in every game. It doesn't mean fans can't be critical about the performances.
Oh dear, another one of these "being an optimist is the only legitimate way to be a real fan" weirdos. And I used a nice word in optimist, another word is delusional.
[deleted]
I wish we had agreed to that Amazon doc cause I really want to see what the fuck he is saying to these players that has them come out looking so disinterested and nonchalant
I would be there.
Is there genuinely anyone out there who can see what Amorim is doing? Am I missing something? I can’t get my head around any of his decisions.
I can't get my head around seeing the team turn a corner and then immediately shifting into reverse back around that corner for no fucking reason.
People going after Jack Fletcher are absolutely pathetic. Seeing comments calling him a nepo baby, do you know what it takes to make it to the United first team, how many years goes into standing out at each age level in the academy and the number of matchday squads you need to get into to be trusted at this stage? You can’t fake it to this point whatsoever. It severely concerns me that during a time when fans were crying out for more involvement of the academy players in our first team, this is the reaction to when they actually make it and are genuinely trying their best to serve a role in an otherwise depleted team with not enough senior guidance around them.
No dig at Fletcher but he isnt ready yet. Maybe 10 minute cameos but not sub on for a full half. We needed someone that could change the game and Fletcher strikes me as risk averse player
I think Amorim got wrong today. Put Martinez in Midfield, sub off Ugarte and put Yoro and Lacey on.
And then you’d complain if Lacey struggled to impose himself into the game?
Fletcher has been making it into matchday squads since the second half of last season while Lacey has struggled with fitness even in academy football. He played a half of Premier League football in the last game. He was the more physically and mentally prepared player to contribute at this level. And I don’t think he even played badly, you need to give these kids time to establish themselves at this level. Lacey’s time will also come, people need to show patience which it’s clear that they don’t have for pretty much anything nowadays, going by the reactions to Fletcher’s performance.
Mate, i can only judge what i saw on the pitch today and what the game dynamics needed against wolves. Im not saying, Fletcher is a bad player, but subbing him on when we needed a creative spark, wasnt the right move. Amorim realised this when he switched Fletcher from right mid to centre mid. Some youth players have the quality to start and get big minutes right away and some need to be slowly integrated. Fletcher is still adapting to the speed of the EPL, and also playing in a double pivot just makes his job even harder.
My point is that you need to give some consideration to the situation of this squad and how many options we really have on the bench to impact this game the way you would have liked. If the only critique you have regarding subs is of Lacey not getting minutes instead of Fletcher and Mantato (in a game where Wolves were winning more duels and therefore we needed more physicality which Lacey for all his attacking spark is not at that stage yet to contribute like that at senior level), then that’s heavily speculative at best and not rooted in logical reasoning. Fletcher currently plays because he’s further along in his development to last at such a level for more minutes than Lacey.
I just said what I would do. Put Martinez in CM, sub yoro on and put lacey on RM, better yet dont sub off Zirkzee. Fletchers game isnt really based off physicality, more of a conductor/distributor that plays simple passes. He is still very hesitant in hid decision-making hence my point is to slowly integrate him. Once Wolves neutralised Cunha- only attacking creativity, we were lost. And putting on Fletcher, evidently achieved nothing. Again, i stand by my point , this wasnt the game to put Fletcher on. Yes, there were no guarantees that Lacey would make a difference but i would have taken a risk there rather than take a risk in the middle of the park
I just don’t think it works that way where you can choose not to account for the physicality of the game when deciding which players to put out there or not. Also the Zirkzee sub was completely understandable, he got his goal but was absolutely woeful again with his general play and failed to commit himself well out of possession.
If your whole arguement is about us drawing because a lack of physicality in midfield. Sooo youre telling me that Fletcher has more of a physical contribution then Martinez and Ugarte?
Huh? Ugarte was still playing in midfield for most of the time Fletcher was out there. Martinez was needed at CB. Yoro and Heaven has been a shaky partnership itself of late because of the former’s poor run of form currently, so you need more experience at the back which he has provided.
Id still take pick Yoro and Heaven at CB then subbing Fletcher on. And my mistake about Ugarte. But still doesnt answwr my question, does fletcher have more physical contribution then Martinez in CM?
The academy players shouldn't have come on.
If an academy player does come on, at least try to prove yourself. Fletcher was backwards passing even when there were easy forward options ahead that even Ugarte can pick out (and Fletcher is supposed to be a 8 or a 10).
Sure Mantato's attempt at bypassing a defender via dribbling didn't work but at least he tried and he also seemed like he had lots of energy to press.
I felt bad, there were boos when the players were going round, some of them deserved but Lammens, Heaven and Sesko did their best, Fletcher and Mantato don't deserve to carry the can for the first team and the manager
Again we're being too reactionary.
Shit result. But we're having a good season and pulling in the right direction..if we'd drawn with Newcastle and beaten Wolves everyone would be fine.
As it's Man United everything is magnified.
We're having a worse season than 23/24 btw. "Too reactionary" with a 42% win rate this season, as a fan I've only witnessed 13 wins in the prem the whole of 2025 like wtf.
If Ugarte was Iniesta, he would also be fine.
A 'good season' for this club is not what we are seeing.
Could it be looked back on as a small, but positive step (with some January transfers) yes, but we aren't there yet and 'progress' can only truly be viewed positively once the true goal is achieved.
We didn't deserve to win today is the issue
We have won 3 out of the last 10…
Still feel there's been an upward trajectory in performances. If you look ar 2021-22 to now, each season aside from 22-23 felt a bit like "death by a thousand cuts". I think in the main performances are good and as i said before...I'd rather a result like this and finish 5th than beat City away like last season and finish 15th
HOW can you still back this, we have 0 wins vs Everton, Bournemouth, West Ham and Wolves at home and you’re concerned about upwards trajectory?
Genuine mental illness, this manager is actually awful and we’ll never win anything under him.
Performances are ok at best but that’s only because last year was so poor, I think giving time is only wasting time, he’s not a United manager he’s not a premier league manager
Why is an upward trajectory the only acceptable metric? Climbing up the table doesn't scale linearly. Amorim isn't going from 15th to 6th and then 6th to 1st or 2nd. There's a huge bottleneck on managerial quality to actually become a Premier League champion - it's not just your squad quality.
The big problems are his insane tactical inflexibility and in-game management. There's no point in continuing with a manger just because he's not doing as bad as his god-awful 15th place finish the season prior.
I saw this kinda thing a lot after the Newcastle game, the performances are not good. They are not even close to being good performances.
We have had maybe 2 actual good performances all season but most of the are dogshit snoozefests. The manager is absolutely out of his depth
when paul scholes said amorim isnt a manchester united manager this is what he was talking about a back 3 vs a bottom of the table side
Some people really show their true colours after a loss, such bitter angry people here
You are either numb or dont care. Maybe this sub isn't for you. Check out r/aww instead.
That's pretty stupid. You assume that because I'm bot having a meltdown over the draw like some? Can I not think it was a shit performance, be disappointed but also keep my head?
You're more upset about my comment than the performance of your team.
Again, just assuming dumb shit so you can have an argument 😂 I only remembered your comment when you replied
I'm sorry you've been charmed by Ruben, and can't see what a mess he has made and therefore have to attack others.
That's not the case at all, you dont need to make something up about someone because you disagree with them
Are you content with the performances? tonight aside because of who was out. Have you seen enough in his decisions to say that he can bring us to where we should be? Genuine question, not trying to kick off, because I can’t get my head around any of his choices.
No, it was a shit performance, we're counting on our bench players and youth, it wasn't going to be great, but it should have been better than that.
The thing is, I've disagreed with a lot of decisions or things said by Ruben and if he gets sacked he gets sacked, but he has improved us and it shows in the table and stats, plus I do think he has done a lot off the pitch to reset the dressing room and their mentality (It's not perfect but much better)
I didn't really want Ruben, but I'll back him till he's not here because him doing well means we do well which is all I care about.
Get rid of Amorim. The only thing worse than a poor manager is a poor manager that thinks he’s a genius and has to prove it to everyone. There was no need to go back to the back 5 after stumbling upon the 4 atb and us looking better. He just wanted to prove his tactic was still the best and that he’s a managerial genius who should never be question.
What a joke
He's inept. Should have never come here.
I’m 36 and have supported United since 1999. Has there been a worse year to be a fan? Losing to Spurs in a final, no trophies, finishing 15th in the league, getting knocked out the second round of the League Cup by Grimsby, drawing against the worst ever PL side statistically. I could go on.
Jeez, what’s with all the comments about a young 18 year old kid playing his 3rd game for us?
Jack Fletcher is not the reason that this manager cannot beat Wolves at home. He couldn’t beat at Everton at home with ten men with the whole team including Bruno , Mbeumo and whoever .
It’s a combination of a very bad manager and an even worse ownership that we are and will continue to be in this state. Once you have accepted it , lif/ much better
Amorim fans prefer to blame an 18 year old being played out of position than our worst manager ever. They don't understand the club.
apparently we are one of the top creators in the league where was that today? please watch our games with your eyes and not with stat sheets
Hes sitting in the stands injured. And the other 2 are at AFFON.
Cmon dude its not that hard
How many players were wolves missing and what's their squad value
Cmon dude its not that hard
Your eyes would show you how many players were missing. Not to take away from the terrible performance, but we're without so many players
£450m of talent starting today including 5 Amorim signings, by the way.
I'm not so fussed about the price, the media does this to us. The players should have done so much better, they didn't put the effort needed in.
In that case let's also account for Wolves also missing 3 or 4 key players too whilst potentially being the worst PL team in history and playing away on an 11 game losing streak.
I reckon wolves worst first team player is better than the YA lads off the bench
we were dogshit vs everton, west ham, spurs away, forest away with almost a full squad
I love Cunha as much as the next United fan. He was Wolves’ best player. But that’s what he is : Wolves’ talisman
Back in the day, the best player of a midtable side , used to be a cameo player for us. We cannot sign midtable stars and expect anything better than midtable
As for Sesko, said it on the day he was signed. He’s better than Hojlund. I see a lot of potential in him but he’s a second striker / off the bench option. A top striker must have something that he doesn’t : goal volume . He’s simply never been the type to bang in 20-30 goals per season .
Overall, this entire squad minus a few players is “whelming” at best.
Why. He's been a meh signing so far. Let's be real, he lack output and he's very selfish and hangs on to the ball too long.
Jury is still out on him.
We signed Roy Keane from a relegated side.
And Rooney and Rio from midtable sides . The point is , prodigies like that don’t count.
I’m mainly talking about signing established 25-29 year old midtable talismans
On course for a 60 point season, which would have put us 9th last season. We deserve everything we get. Players and manager are crap. Youth players are crap. Ownership is pathetic for decades now. And our director of football is a footballing legend... for Blackburn Rovers. No United legends giving any input to how the club should be run. We are a joke of a club. Alex Ferguson fucked this club by picking his under qualified Scottish mate to succeed him and letting the squad age out and diminish in quality before he left. He should have called out the owners for lack of investment before he retired. The fans would have backed him to the hilt and forced the Glazers out but he chose the easy option.
David Moyes was far from underqualified.
A decade of PL experience with a CL finish with an Everton side. The problem has always been the American leeches . Nothing to do with Moyes.
I think he was underqualified to manage one of the top teams in Europe. He managed Everton for god's sake. They finished fourth once in his time with them, right? Hardly world beaters. It was Fergie's ego that made him choose Moyes, another Scotsman like himself and Busby before him. He wanted to keep it with the Scottish mafia! But times had changed. There was no top British manager to succeed him, and anyways we didn't need a British manager at at time when football was becoming more global, but he insisted on Moyes when we should have been going for Pep (who was on sabbatical), Klopp (who had knocked Bayern off their perch and been in a CL final), Mourinho (who was out of Madrid and ended up back at Chelsea), even Ancelotti was available. How the hell was Moyes, with a thick Scottish brogue and no experience at the very top of the game, going to appeal to a top player, foreign or British? We needed a modern manager, not a throwback; a multilingual, cultured manager, who knew the ins and outs of European football. Of course we got that the following season, with an over the hill Van Gaal. Then we get Mourinho when his peak is over, and the rot has already set in at the club. Funny really. It's like intentional sabotage.
A fitting end to a terrible 2025 for this football club.
Every victory under Amorim has been down to the players. Sometimes just having better players than the opposition works. Sometimes you get a bit of luck. But he has never contributed or created a team that is his or an idea that is his. At the moment he is not bigger than our best players. There was never a time when any player was bigger than Sir Alex. Never a player bigger than Pep. Here having 3 injured players is way worse than playing without a manager.
I have unsubscribed to all of the games now. My New Year's resolution is to stop watching United games
See you at Leeds United. Ggmu let's gooo buddy. Ain't no time to give up now. We still got more games to lose mate.
