It’s that time of year again where we Recap and share with you all the awesome things that happened on Reddit over the last year.
For those of you who are new to Reddit, Reddit Recap is our yearly experience that enables you to view a compilation of data - sometimes measured in bananas - about your activity on the platform over the past year.
How to Recap
In order to access the user Recap experience you must be logged in on desktop or our mobile apps.
To check it out, tap or click on the banana icon at the top right of the screen on iOS and Android, or near the search bar on Desktop. Don't see the banana? Try updating the Reddit app. You can also get to Recap by tapping on your avatar icon or the community drawer at the top left of your homefeed (the three lines), via your inbox, or through the banner at the top of the home feed.
This year we’ve revamped the experience by bringing a new Recap to the forefront: Community Recaps. Community Recaps are data driven information nuggets about many of your favorite communities on Reddit. They can be accessed by simply tapping the Recap banana banner in the header of participating communities. Additionally, in the Reddit app you can view a list of participating communities you've joined (plus trending ones) by tapping the banana icon at the top of your Home feed.

Skill Cards
At the end of the user Recap you’ll get your very own Reddit ability card that shows your top three communities, along with a skill power. Based on the karma you earned throughout the year, the rarity of the card and skill will be more powerful… Remember, with great power comes great responsibility. You’ll also be able to share this card while hiding your username and/or avatar creation if you wish.
We hope you enjoy both the user and community Recap experiences this year and we can’t wait to see you all next year to do this again!
Hey mods,
For those who have community recaps for your subreddit - as you can tell, they’re now live!
If you’d like your qualifying subreddit to have its community Recap, no action is required. Just get ready for even more Recap action. As a reminder, only a subset of safe-for-work (SFW) subreddits will be eligible. You and your mod team will have the option to opt out of this experience ahead of Recap going live, by going to Mod Tools > Insights on mobile or Mod Tools > Safety > under the Discover section on desktop (not available on old.reddit).
Keep in mind: data for community recap cuts off on Nov 1st.

Ironically, I can't get a recap because I'm not using the official app. Hooray!
[deleted]
new reddit. no installation required.
And then quickly switch back to old reddit.
Yep. Absolute worst year for reddit so far. The site seems a lot more lackluster ever since, like it lost a lot of its more passionate and recognizable users.
Not to mention their end-of-year ui redesign for mobile users that’s also terrible.
Really? Gross. I haven't kept up with that. There's one mobile app that was made really early on that was grandfathered in somehow, so if you want to ditch the official reddit app, RedReader. It's not a good app, but I still prefer ANYTHING that isn't owned by reddit itself. (I usually use desktop, to be fair, so I'm not sure RedReader can be considered a total reddit solution, but I still enjoy doing some mindless scrolls on it.)
Will it include all the people who swore they would leave reddit but are still here?
Absolutely worthless, got shown a bunch of random posts i dont remember and meant nothing to me, plus i got shown some subreddits i dont use. very cool recap, reddit
lists 3 subs I unsubbed from months ago
Mine was so lame. Nothing made sense and lots of errors after checking.
This.
Absolutely shite recap this year.
Reddit screwed up the recap this year. Just a bunch of random shit and subs i never even joined before. Not cool.
I dunno about you, but that's what I got last year, too.
yeah it's just worthless
Recap bears no relation to what I’ve done on Reddit this year.
I earned 55k karma this year and got a common card. Is that normal? 🤔
there is a rarity?
Yeah, upper right corner of your card.
It goes from Common to Legendary I think.
i got epic, i guess. this is kinda dumb
I like the concept tbh, hehe.
It's useless I agree but that's a little something Reddit has and other platforms don't.
I joined 150 something days ago and got just over 30K, you’re okay mate
I joined 11 months ago and I’ve earned over 154K karma and I was given a common card. I’m very curious on how the algorithm works.
I joined
719 months ago and have 74K karma. I should have a common card too, right?absolutely not! I have an epic
This whole thing is just broken if I can get a better card with less karma
and a newer account.EDIT: My top posts aren't even that popular in comparison to yours!
EDIT 2: I actually made a miscalculation. I added months from May 2023 instead of 2022, so my account is older than yours. Still, it only proves you're better at being popular than me and should deserve a better card.
34k, my account is 7 years old and I got an epic as well
Then there might be some randomness in the way you get your recap card. That, I can understand but I’m just a bit surprised that the official communication is : « it’s based on karma ». No, it’s obviously not, or at least not only.
I have waaaay less karma than you and I got an Epic card. No idea.
Maybe if you posted original content might help? (Not a dig 😂)
Hence why I said I’m curious on how the algorithm works. If sharing original content is a defining factor, that would make sense. But they specifically said “based on the karma you earned throughout the year, the rarity of the card and skill will be more powerful.” There’s clearly some inconsistencies.
What did you get though? A common one?
Yup I got common
Wow. How many should you earn to get a rare then? I remember having another account last year and I had like 33k karma. Got an epic card. That’s why I’m asking.
Is it not just total karma, I don't think I've gained much karma in the last year and I still got legendary.
I got rare and basically have never posted anything
What is the card for? I got an epic. Is it just a picture of a card? What do I do with it? 🤔
That’s funny you got an epic with less karma. Something more must be involved in the rarity you get.
It’s nothing but a fun pic, basically. You do not get extra perks.
Oh okay. Thanks
What’s interesting tho is the Recap Collectible Avatar that follows. :D
Yeah I got rare and my karma ain't great, had account nearly 9 years
I also got a rare and have had my account for 9 years. So maybe it's got something to do with age of account too.
Is there a way to show it again? I read through it and closed it and don’t seem to see it there any more.
There’s a banana on the right top corner. That’s the recap.
Weird, it disappeared for me after using it, but restarting the app got it back. Guess it’s just Reddit being Reddit.
Try clicking your profile and looking for it there.

Love how mine said I loved a channel that had banned me.
To be fair, I did love it, my posts are just "low quality" :/
I cant even view my recap. I click it and I get sent to the subreddit
Same -.-
Enable desktop site on your browser before you click the link. Pass it on.
still doesn’t work
Well I’m offended that 2023 is over , 25 days early! Never even got the tree up. Decorators are still here and I’m still 60 🙄🤔
My (user) recap is hilariously off
...It seems literally every other sub is being pretended not to exist in a user's activity too.
(So one of my top 3 subs is r/ModSupport) :P
Wtf? This recap was so shit it literally had nothing in it?
Once you put that banana on my header reddit always freezes up for me. I have to exit and come back in and it freezes again. reddit becomes a bigger trash heap every day.
How to mute this? I dont give a shit about the recap
Epic
Reddit recap is nice
You need to goddamn tell what posts you enjoyed and everything
God motherfucki-
recap breaks
Spotifty Wrapped
lol my city in NA's sub third most visited from country is Russia. Thats suspicious.
Wtf does Research Grant mean?
My one is completely broken. I have 1.5k karma, I clearly have scrolled.
Yet apparently I've scrolled '0 bananas' this year. Says so in the website, and says so in the app
Apparently there was a cutoff date for data collection and as your account is only a month old you must have missed that cutoff
So what does the cards rarity mean?
https://i.redd.it/yv2q3yoe4q4c1.gif
aint no way you put the whole episode as a gif
My "Top Post" isn't even my top and it doesn't even show how many hours I spent in my top subreddits. It sucks this year
I got a rare card, why is that ?
Meh.
.
It was absolutely arse.
recap deez nuts
cringe
Shitty recap, do better.
Shit as usual cause it excludes subs that reddit doesn't like

73,924 bananas. Kewl.
I haven't been able to access my recap for years. Just sends me into a loop of please login, redirect to please login, redirect to please login
Is there a way to hide this thing? I'm gonna have a fucking aneurysm with it being at the top of every SR I visit and also right above "My Profile". I want to see my posts and that's it.
It's disgusting and annoying as every year and I hate it (as I hate you for making that irremovable from my devices).
*Just sayin'*
Most of what look at on Reddit had boobs, nothing in my recap showed this
Cool idea
I don’t have the banana icon. Updated my app and I still can’t see it. Any advice how to see it?
I don't have it either
Why do you use Bananas, that seems pretty random 🤨
I hate the recaps. It's crapshoot.
I clicked link and got sent here how do I find it lil
Don’t understand the Research Grant skill. Is there a list that explains these or is it just for fun and giggles?
Our sub didn't get a recap :c
I am unable to use Reddit, because I have really low karma, so I am unable to post in certain communities making this website useless to me. I have no way of making karma. I don’t know how it works, it is so stupid that I can’t just post, but I can make a post and I can waste my time writing out of really long post, just to get told that I can’t post it after posting it.
This website is so frustrating, it doesn’t make any sense and the karma system is stupid.
Using the most up to date version and there’s no Banana
Thank !
