i don't think making a joke comparing an innocuous situation to a movi really fits with the sub's theme of "a person's thoughts/personality are unreasonably shaped by or expressed through a book or book franchise, movie or movie franchise, video game or video game franchise", making a reference as a joke isn't the same as, say, people being like "x group (who's causing reqal harm) are IRL death eaters!!!"
I disagree. Thor gets fat in Endgame as the butt of a joke. That's why he's fat, so the audience can look at his disgusting body and mock it. So responding to a world-class athlete openly talking about what happens to all athletes once they're not on our teevee screens anymore with a fat Thor reference is pretty directly disrespectful.
Idk, I get why people feel the fat suit was a step too far but I‘ve always read it more as an extension of how far he’s fallen apart. It’s certainly played for laughs because he’s behaving ridiculously but i think we’re also supposed to feel at least a little bad for it.
I thought it might be forgiven since his name is Bolt but no

It’s sad that Usain Bolt is getting old and injured. And then to say it’s just like fat Thor kind of down plays it in my opinion.
I get where you're coming from. Usain bolt pushed his body to the limit for years, and his body is showing signs of that, it is insensitive, i agree
Yeah, I wouldn't say this post applies for the sub. The commenter is mostly just being a dick
Yeah exactly. It's rude, but it's not "worldview excessively shaped by a piece of children's media"

Read my other comments in this thread. Basically, "insensitive dick move? Yes. Media bubble? No".

God forbid someone take care of themselves
Exactly. Like god forbid he actually enjoy his retirement and spend time with his children?!
Could probably still kick all of their asses on the track
