iirc the only things he transformed into were a wall in the fight with Electro, a sandstorm twice or three times, and the giant Sandman we saw in the final SM3 fight
Fun fact about this scene: the actor for sandman accidentally punched actual rocks instead of the foam rocks they were supposed to use and broke his hand from it.
This scene has excellent effects, coreography, score, and dramatic lighting that favors readability over straight realism (the city wouldn't pay for all that lighting inside the metro tunels unless there were people working down there, it's wasteful, so the lights are for our benefit), aka, style. Old movie indeed good.
Oh shit I had this same one. First exact thought when I saw this post too lol. I had this other Spider-Man toy that was super poseable because it was meant to hang from a web but I just used it when I wanted Spider-Man to get absolutely battered cuz I could twist him into like the family guy death pose
I had this well a similar figure instead of the spike he had hammers and a hole in his chest ripped straight from the truck scene, it also came with a little tube of sand too and I can practically smell this picture.
There was also a venom one with a tube of black goo, I lost it in a neighbours flower pot when I had the bright idea to take it out with me on a shopping trip, never found it despite looking for like two months every day and yes I'm still pissed at younger me for loosing it.
My dad only bought the venom for me when I promised I’d give him the goop right out of the package so he could throw it out. I also wasn’t allowed to have playdoh either. Again, for totally legitimate reasons.
Bruh came to these comments just cause I had a specific memory of a sandman action figure with that exact hand. Thank you for this also I’m mad I lost that thing
The game(s) all used an earlier version of the script/screenplay so a lot of things that ended up getting cut from the final movie ended up in the game. This is also why the first game had a web meter since Peter was going to use web shooters initially before it was changed to organic ones.
I worked in makeup for a while, and it’s so disappointing. You work really hard and kill yourself on something, then it gets cut, or underused. Hollywood is wasteful AF, and I’ll die on that hill.
We usually have 3 stages in production preproduction, production and post production. Pre production we plan what things need to be made and how long tasks should take.
Typically in AAA producers will be assigned to work with each team to see what things need to be done and check estimates based on how long the team needs. The leads of each team will decide how long things should take and cross verify that with the artists working on set task.
After task estimates are made. We set them into sprints and get people assigned. (Either weekly or bi weekly sprints) wed have deliverable milestone we reach within each production stage. Then work through them.
But bottom line it should be based on how the initial estimates should be. If anything goes wrong. The schedule gets adjusted. But each artist/dev needs to update that in their tasks which is tracked
I always kinda feel bad for people making movies when they put a lot of work into something cool that ends up getting cut. I guess it’s not a big deal because they still get paid, but still it kinda sucks
Can’t help but think of the props/costume/effects folks who work on little bits of projects like this that never see the screen. Someone shaped each one of those spikes, you know? Cool to see some BTS shots at least!
Please tell I’m not crazy when I say that when I was kid during the fight between Spider Man and Sandman in the truck there was a part where Peter is on the roof of the car and Sandman turned his hand into a spike a kept trying to stab him thru the roof am I fucking insane
We did get the fist a few times.

Also, I NEED that photoshoot so bad. It's so hard to find good promotional art for this movie. Every Venom art I find is super low res and old.
come to think of it, i'm surprised they never used the spike hand design for Sandman in No Way Home
Oh yeah thinking about it, he never morphed his hands into spiked balls or hammers, did he?
If no one really noticed until now I guess it wasn't that important but it would be cool with modern CGI
iirc the only things he transformed into were a wall in the fight with Electro, a sandstorm twice or three times, and the giant Sandman we saw in the final SM3 fight
He makes a Big hammer in their first fight
So what you're saying is, you need photos of (someone similar looking to) Spider-Man.
Fun fact about this scene: the actor for sandman accidentally punched actual rocks instead of the foam rocks they were supposed to use and broke his hand from it.
Yeah. Sucks.
Yo honestly these two short shots alone look better than the entire home trilogy.
Now dig on this. I need to do the rest of the fight but I'm busy these days.

New movies bad, old movies good

Yes
i can't see the spikes
I said fist, not spiked fist. Big FISTO

The left photo in OP's post is AI.
I think it was on his action figure though, if my memory serves
Correct

That's the one I had! Thank you for the nostalgia trip.
Man I remember when I found black suit Spider-Man and felt like I found a grail figure. Good times.

You lost the symbiote?!
He pulled a fast one on me
My parents wouldn’t let me have the sand or symbiote goop. They said I’d get it in the carpet. They were right.
If it makes you feel better I never had the goop either, but that sand did indeed get everywhere.
My dad only bought the venom for me when I promised I’d give him the goop right out of the package so he could throw it out. I also wasn’t allowed to have playdoh either. Again, for totally legitimate reasons.

I loved that figure. Most of the Spider-Man 3 figures were underwhelming, but this was one of the few good ones to come out of the line
Yeah, it definitely was. I vividly remember having one with it as one of the accessories.
I think it was on
His action figure though, if
My memory serves

Yeah thats kinda wild, the toy got the upgrade but the actual movie didnt. Feels like they mixed up which version needed the cool stuff honestly
What does it matter to you anyway?!
EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
EVERYTHING!
EVERYTHING!
E V E R Y T H I N G
EVERYTHING!!!!
Always bothers my brain that he doesn't say what does it MEAN to you anyway? Makes more sense to reply with Everything.
A lot of Sandman content was cut. Venom was going to manipulate him by going after his daughter at the park where Flint was going to be a sandcastle, and Sandman would also force a doctor to cure her (the money stolen at the bank heist was to fund this cure, not to pay for conventional health care)
The sand castle scene was reinstated into the Editor's Cut, but so much else was left out.
They did that in the game oddly enough.
The game(s) all used an earlier version of the script/screenplay so a lot of things that ended up getting cut from the final movie ended up in the game. This is also why the first game had a web meter since Peter was going to use web shooters initially before it was changed to organic ones.
Ah yes, what we all wanted to see. Sandman's spiked balls.

There’s more
Noooo
Man, that's, like, his signature move!
release the 3 hour cut!
Cowards
Yep thats the creative industry for you (im in it rn)
I worked in makeup for a while, and it’s so disappointing. You work really hard and kill yourself on something, then it gets cut, or underused. Hollywood is wasteful AF, and I’ll die on that hill.
What do you do?
Im in the games industry. Work as a environment artist. I make the art for game environment
good luck
How do you make accurate time estimates for tasks?
We usually have 3 stages in production preproduction, production and post production. Pre production we plan what things need to be made and how long tasks should take.

His arm transforms are so iconic though. I wish we got the spike ball hand. Sandman is actually really cool and I wish he was the only villain in sm3
End of the line Spider-Man
Genuinely would've loved to see this
I always kinda feel bad for people making movies when they put a lot of work into something cool that ends up getting cut. I guess it’s not a big deal because they still get paid, but still it kinda sucks
Bro this is ai, why isn't no one pointing this out or the did I miss the satire
the first is definitely ai but the second one is true

how dudes be when they get their first sleeve
That’s a sand mace.

Because it looks stupid 😂
Wouldn't mind seeing John Cena take the Sandman role tbh
