I minding my own business and getting off the train. There were 3 teens very young trying to board the same coach as me, Suddenly one of the kid, in a very racial and stereotypical Indian accents said “Doordash for you sir” to me, the group laughed and immediately stopped when I looked at them. I didn’t want to escalate the situation. Even before I could say anything the kid said “I like your shoes”, in response I said “You’re not funny mate” and kept walking. This incident scared me as I am myself in my teen years and was faced with a very racist comment just because of what I do or my skin colour. I am now a bit paranoid that this might happen again at an escalated point sometime in future. I really hope the local law enforcement can take necessary steps to help diverse people from racism and educate people about harmony and coexistence.

If I’m unlucky, I’ll make sure to record it next time so be safe and have proof. Idk guys I am very paranoid now. I know this might not even be serious but I’ve never face anything like this ever before.

  • Happened to me after a long day at work - on the way home with bus, two very young teenagers started giggling 2 rows behind me. Then throw stuff at me but missed, landed on my side. Then I heard them saying “fcking Immigrants” thinking that I don’t understand what they are saying (will not specify which language or where did I lived, it’s irrelevant now), fortunately I speak the language well enough communicate at work and daily.

I was soo tired and have 0 fck left - I ended up leaving the bus on the next stop and walked home crying.

But now I realised, they must learned that behaviour somewhere. I want to believe that they don’t know any better.

I’m so sorry that happened to you man :( it really sucks. I’m pretty sure internet is to blame just look yourself how casual is it to call someone any slur on Instagram. Shit is whack out there man.

  • That is a shame that happened to you. Surprised racism is the worst. It’s like stepping in poop through no fault of your own. Unfortunately ugly, evil people exist, which is why we have to work diligently to surround ourselves with good, kind people.

  • You don't do nothing wrong op. Aussies learn other ethnic groups through extremist channels. F that shit kids.

  • Stay strong brother and no dont be dependent on police or law, this might sound egdy, but be physically strong, learn some martial art, ur in australia, racism there is so strong you might get attacked, be responsible for your own security, ignore them, ur reaction is thier fuel, be physicall strong and know some martial art, in case they take things physical

Thanks man I have been away from gym and fitness for a while. I will start looking after myself. Thanks for the advice.

  • You handled it pretty well imo. Never be afraid to confront racists, no matter what age group they belong to

  • Sorry for this incident. Yes racism is real. You did a great job confronting that offensive behavior.

No one is immune to mean people. Sometimes people use racism to bully others. It's a sad fact but true.

Continue to advocate for yourself and those people that use racism to intimidate you and others will remember that racism doesn't scare people. Racism is just a great tactic of weak-minded people.

Always confront bullies and they will flee.

Stand tall and proud. You aren't a victim.

Tell others and make an example of this situation so others learn not to bully.
